[cite]Posted By: Barn Door Varney[/cite]I do find it amusing how people are happy to disassociate Parkinson from the Pardew era and happily accept that Parky apparently sat in a broom cupboard for over a year with no input into anything.
OK, so that would be Keith Peacock then during Curbs' time. What a ridiculous comment. So what are you hoping to gain by trying to associate Parky with the Pardew disaster then? Does it actually change anything at all?
An anecdote. We were on a campsite in Devon when Pardew and family booked in using a motorhome that belonged to the Caravan Club. Pardew strolled around in pristine all white gear standing out like a sore thumb. In conversation, there had obviously been a disagreement between his wife and Pardew, in that he had made full use of the motorhome's toilet and stunk the motorhome out. (Most people only use the toilet for nightime piddles and the campsite facilities for everything else).
This cracked me up - funny story.
Pardoo is so arrogant he probably thinks his shit don't stink.

I'm not "trying" to associate Parky, he was associated, fact! What is "ridiculous" is trying to suggest that he wasn't.
Not trying to gain anything simply making an observation.
Pardw was a huge, huge disappointment but I'm not intersted in scapgoating him for the mess we are in, he didn't do it on his own. As far as I'm concerned this season is a clean slate and on saturday, I'll concentrate on supporting the manager we have rather then throwing pointless insults at one that's gone.
I think we should all put our energy MASSIVELY into the team tomorrow. Put as much positivity into our team and ignore the money grabbing ego on legs.
I have to disagree with Afka on Pard's, I think he's been found out. At WHam if anyone saw them it was unbelievable how many weak willed 'great touch' players he had, who went missing during a fight. He even left out Mascherano who after 5-6 matches became one of his most reliable players, but kept Reo Choker in. Virtually every player he fancied for his best 11 at Charlton were chokers. He's gone to Soton who still have some great but lightweight youngsters. What does he do? Sign no big characterful players, but get's another striker; albeit a good one but they desperately need rock hard defenders and midfielders. The man's an idiot to stupid to learn from his mistakes, put him in the Jon Barnes manager bin.
"I will be going back there with mixed feelings because there's a lot of regret there from both myself and the board," he told the club's official website.
"For whatever reason, it didn't work out there, but that happens in football. It's also one of my old teams on the playing side, and I like to see them do well.
"There are no hard feelings on my side. I will just go back there as a professional manager and look to get a win for Southampton."
Sorry but what has he said that's out of order.
My reading of it is that both he and the Board wanted his appointment to be a success and they both regret that it wasn't.
What do you expect him to say?
Forget about Pardew, he's gone and we've moved on. Lets concentrate on being positive about our team and manager rather than negative about Pardew.

The man deserves all the names he's been called in the above 78 posts - and worse.
BUT ... I couldn't help noticing today that the now celebrated midfield we've fielded in all seven games this season were in Pardew's starting line-up at the beginning of last season...
Semedo, Sam, Shelvey and Racon were all picked by Pardew for our opening game v Swansea, and he then bought in Bailey in time to start the following week v Watford.
So when he talked before the match about the good players he left us with, I begrudgingly have to admit he has a point. Shame he didn't know what to do with them and ruined their confidence, though !
Would have loved McLeod to come on and score yesterday as for me he sums up Pardew's signings. Lots of potential and hefty fees but poor man management and usage. Needed a run in side and time to get used to Championship and new style of play. In 2007 against Norwich McLeod virtually won us that game but then was not used again for weeks. When he finally broke his duck against WBA, this would have been perfect game for him to get a start and really kick on but remained on bench and rarely seen again till last year. Why Pardew loaned him out and preferred to spend so much on a 30 year old is still beyond me. Then last year, Izale got one start against Burnley when he was clearly not 100% fit and players like Dickson were desperate for a game, did not do himself justice and again not seen again under Pardew. That is not to mention Varney
Could we not think of an alternative name for Pardew? Defoe is widely known here as "Judas", Millwall as the "Spanners". Surely there is something similar we could think of for Pardew?

This post is spot on.
