How good are we...too good for the six teams we've played this year and probably too good for the rest of the division with the exception of Leeds.
We've dominated several of those games and have managed to instil confidence and determination in the team, which was sadly lacking for most of last year. Even if our form over the last dozen or so matches last season was ok the performances on the park looked laboured and joyless. We have the total opposite this year. A dollop of confidence is the real difference and may also be the difference when Southampton come calling on Saturday and agianst Leeds etc.
The defense is still a weak spot, but anyone with a brain banged on for three plus years that the defense has no chance if the midfield doesn't compress and compete. Now we have at least four midfielders willing to compete and one winger who is positionally solid. It's no real drama is it?
Did we score plenty of goals in the last fifteen matches? We were OK but many games it was Bailey then lose. This team without confidence could easily get sucked into a relegation battle in the champ. It has similar weaknesses, a left full back who is improving but still positionally kamikaze and the lack of pace up front that can become crucial in tighter champ matches. With confidence this team should challenge the play offs in the champ, but don't forget Burton will struggle to score goals in the champ so again it's crucially down to Bailey and how the defense is. Youga will be a liability in the champ, hopefully Richardson will not once he's bedded in.
We are where we are, and pretty good at the moment. Im enjoying this more than I can remember enjoying anything since our last promotion....so for entertainment value...Im really happy
