Hey guys new here, and please don't shoot me down too fast. I live in Eltham and think it is high time I support a local my localish. Also id like my son to grow up knowing football by attending games rather than watching on TV. So I'm going to take him to a few Charlton games starting in the next few months and was looking for any tips or useful information, i.e. looking at the Oldham game any idea when tickets will go on sale? Also which stand and seats would people recommend? Any kind info will help greatly.
Cheers guys.

Don't take any notice of my ramblings.

Choosing charlton last season would have been soul destroying!
Depending on your child's age, think about the North Upper and the language.
NW Quadrant is a fairly good introduction to charlton.
Try different areas throughout the season and you will be able to come back on here with your thoughts on the fans around the valley?
keep us up to date on what he thinks of the games he attends please! :-)
welcome to the best CAFC resource on t'web - listen to me and you'll go far! :-)
Nice touch!!
Not since BDL's been on the register ;-)
Explain that one. I for one have never actually consumed a child. I've been a season ticket holder in the East Stand, Block G, Row P Seat 36 for 15 years now. And I'm 15 years old and 8 months. So there.
Set yourself up for a consumation now. :~(
;-)
WHUT? I don't wanna be consummated just yet! Hell, I'm not even married!
Great point and something I alluded to the other day. C'mon guys let's all play nice now.
BTW welcome aboard Aaron plus his soon to be Junior Red. Great choice fella.
Reckon East blocks C-E are best for view of whole game and atmosphere in east is decent. North is great for atmosphere but language can be near the mark. also the hot dog stall near to block A of east is one of the best about.
Welcome Aaron. Hope you enjoy. I'd recommend, as said above, the NWQuadrant for families. You'll both enjoy it I'm sure.
Sounds great, take him on it and your son will think you're the mutts! That's the kind of Club this is.
Atmosphere's best in the North Upper, but depending on your son's age he may find it a bit too overwhelming, and a "what happens at football stays at football" warning is essential if he has even the faintest tendency of parroting new and interesting language. The view's better in the East, but the atmosphere is variable - I'd go for block F or G, so you can see the play pretty well, but the songs from the North Stand Covered End are less likely to be drowned out by the away fans in the South Jimmy Seed Stand.
Other tips:
Programmes are 3 quid - opinions are divided as to whether they are worth buying or not, but it's probably worth it as a souvenir of his first game. Bring a couple of plastic soft drink lids with you, if you're going to be buying him a soft drink, as they're meant to take the lids off when they give them to you (it's a safety measure, don't ask).
If you are going to be sitting anywhere near the front of the stand, make sure you have decent waterproofs, because you WILL get wet if it rains.
Might be wrong but I think all matches (if not most) will be priced the same. There might be a few cheaper and a few more expensive, can't remember. Most of the time it'll be between £17 and £25 for adult tickets though.
BDL is the stadium announcer bloke....
so do 'whisper' him some details via the 'Whisper your comments to' box..... nobody else will be able to read them
I think that's a great gesture by the way BDL - good man!
NW is good for getting some of the atmosphere and still not being too close to the drunken language etc....
he'll love it!
Get him announsed and thet will be it I reckon, he'll be Charlton!
*unless you are actually a spanner fishing for info on how to get a red card.
Glory hunter...only starts going now we are top of the league...

It might have something to do with the policy of deleting threads that aren't agreed with, deleting and editing posts on people's behalves and the general sniping that goes on when alternative points of view are aired ?
What you talking about ?
I totally disagree with this and you !
I hope you and the littl'un enjoy your days at the Valley.
