I sent this to Steve Waggott earlier this evening just after the deadline closed. Hope it hits the spot for most of you.
Steve,
You're probably starting to become aware already, but today's events have seriously rekindled some of the faith that fans have in the Board.
Keeping the current squad would probably have been enough in its own right, but adding some depth with the new recruits is a real bonus, even though most fans recognised how thin the squad was.
The Club has had a fair battering over the last few months. In contrast, please pass on the thanks of the supporters to all involved at Board level and beyond for keeping and adding to a squad that we can have faith in.
A great few weeks work culminating in today's efforts has seen optimism reach a peak.
Can't say i'm too bothered about the takeover now.Thought it was neccessary to keep the likes of Shelvey and especially Bailey at the club but obviously not.Maybe would of liked a couple of better quality additions but beggars can't be choosers.
Yes, great news. Just what we have all been asking for after the perfect start (we all asked for). Can we extend our unbeaten run now to at least nine games please? Going unbeaten against Brentford (h), Southampton (h), Norwich (a) and Exeter (h) shouldn't be too much more to ask for should it? We could then afford to have a real go away at Colchester and Leeds.
Absolutely fantastic stuff. Pulled out the stops again, when it counted. Exceeded my expectations by a long way. There's been a lot of errors (for which they've suffered more than any of us) and I'm very grateful.
Mr Irvine - that "gag" (in it's many tedious forms) got tired a long time ago, hows about just letting people enjoy the positive vibe. With the benefit of hindsight we've all been proved wrong at various times, so there's no need for it.
Well done the board? Hmm, well yes, but primarily it's well done Parky surely?.
Would we really be getting excited about 3 free transfers if he hadn't inspired the team to this brilliant unbeaten start?
Not to mention the excellent players he has already brought in; the united dressing room; the respect of the players etc.
Could it be all of that be why our quality players were apparntly happy to stay?
Just my opinion.
Surely it is a team effort - Board/CEO(s) and Manage? Despite the problems of the past few years and the clear lack of any more investment available from our current Board, it does, at long last, seem as if we may have turned a corner and the "togtherness" which ran through the club during the Curbs years, certainly from where I sat, now seems to have returned again. Neccessity/adversity or realism may be the catylist but it is good to see. (Wipes rose-tinted spectacles)....:o)
Well done EVERYONE, say I. And that includes the great support we, the fans have given so far this term, and as a whole, the loyalty Charlton supporters have shown.
Of course, the 100% start to the season has been the catalyst & agree wholeheartedly with Six as to the influence Parky has had on the dressing room.
It's now time for the casual fans to commit themselves to the cause and really make The Valley that fortress we often dream about...starting with Brentford.
Let's make it difficult for the commentators on Sat to be heard above the noise from the "terraces" and show those armchair fans that Charlton IS back !
[cite]Posted By: cafcdan18[/cite]Yeah well done, so pleased to keep Racon, Bailey etc, worst news of day is seeing Leeds keep beckford and snodgrass that would have put icing on cake
I've had the picture of Jonjo i took at the sponsers do on my phone since that night & i thought to myself if i kept it there he'd stay. Yipee! Am one happy Addick! Thanks to the Board, Parky & the team. That picture aint going nowhere! LLL&BH! X
As I mentioned elsewhere, a special mention to Parky who must have been working under conditions that many of us would have found intolerable. I didnt think he was up for the job, but never disliked the man and Im really happy to be proved wrong.....long may this renewed optimism reign.
Also, a big thank you to the fans who have turned out in numbers that I wouldnt have expected at the end of last season.....take a bow yourselves.
i'll say well done once we're back in the mighty championship...
spent yesterday with 4 palace fans, it isn't that great being a charlton fan with them c**** taking the pee but that serves me right for mixing in such company(and taking the pee when we relegated them)
we are where we are and unbelievably we could be so much worse off due to the recent mismanagement of our club
so fair play to the people that have kept us with what looks like a promotion winning team(not squad)
each to their own but i'm not as easily pleased and wont get too excited with a victory over nobody fc , sure i'll enjoy it but give me one more top flight victory over arsenal(in my lifetime) than a million wins in this league and then i'll be excited;-)

Very well done to all.
;-)
LOL
The squad needed stengthening and it was, and a couple of players who didn't fit into Parky's plans have been shifted on.
always sticking up for the board no matter what.
Bought two crocks and a scouse reject. Bet the only reason they never sold the players is that no one wanted them.
And that parky. Used to be Pardews no. 2 so he must be rubbish.

Any news on their losses or gains?
MINUTES FROM THE LAST FANS DIRECTOR'S BOARD MEETING
DC: Well I'm afraid we are going to have to replace the Fan's Director with a representative 'Forum'
RM: I'm with you on that Derek - I don't see what they bring to the table.
BH: (tugging forlock) Yes Mr Chairmen, absolutely agree Mr Chairmen, waste of time Mr Chairmen................
:-))))

Agreed especially Beckford
Per ardua ad Astra.
After three years of not knowing whether we were coming or going, finally it is good to be a Charlton fan again. Long may it last!
So the rumour that we are bringing in RAFa Benitez is true then?
When is the stadium going to be extended to 40,000?
If we get him I'll spitfire.
Also, a big thank you to the fans who have turned out in numbers that I wouldnt have expected at the end of last season.....take a bow yourselves.

This is good and Im enjoying it but i'd enjoy it a whole lot more in the top flight.
I seen us have 3 spells in the top flight and I will always believe that it is possibke for us to have another.
