  • Stu, do you have a problem with any female football fan daring to express an opinion, or is it just me?
  • I have still seen little from Gray to suggest he is a £million + striker. He's given opportunity after opportunity on here, and lots of patience and understanding given various personal and injury circumstances. Afraid I simply remain unconvinced by him as a footballer. Burton cost nothing to sign, and is probably on a fraction of his wages - sums up the difference for me between a Pardew and Parky signing.

I'm with you Weegie on this one.

Problems not with you, or females, I happen to quite like the fairer sex ;-)

It's more to do with slating a player who's featured in one pre-season game and clearly not 100 matchfit who I happend to think did quite well on Saturday and tried his best with that particular shot on goal, however the keeper and defender both did very well, which is what stopped the ball going in, not Gray's lack of ability. It would have been much easier to have simlply cheated and fallen over, I respect the guy for not doing that.

Your post just happend to be the last one on the thread and the easiest quote button to click.
  • A fit, confident Andy Gray will get us goals in this division. Sadly at the moment we've yet to really see a fit, happy Andy Gray since he signed for us.

Fine, but don't call me clueless, then...

    ;-)
  • It wasnt aimed at just you.
  • Barnsley boss Simon Davey had admitted his patience is wearing thin in his pursuit of Charlton Athletic striker Andy Gray. A deal with Charlton and the player has been agreed for a couple of weeks now but with the Addicks still in the process of a takeover and under a transfer embargo, the deal still cannot go through.

    Davey told Barnsley Player:

"We are still talking to Charlton about Andy Gray but they remain under a transfer embargo until their takeover is completed. We were expecting it to go through yesterday but again there have been more delays.

"Everything is agreed and we are just waiting on Charlton saying that we can push it through. Our patience is wearing a little thin though and we are coming nearer to the end of the transfer window. We are very close to taking the deal off the table and going elsewhere. We will have to decide very soon when we draw a line under the whole thing and go somewhere else".

One player who should sign this week though is Icelandic internation

he seems to know more than us
  • I can't see why here should be a transfer embargo on players LEAVING us..........signing for us I can understand, but why and how can any consortium/group etc etc dictate terms when they have no power and don't own us ?

I'd tell 'em to stick it and continue with any team changes that are necessary. I can see Sept 1st coming along, not signing anyone and then the takeover falls apart............then we will be f****d !!

  • I can Golfie, maybe they want to have a say in who stays and who goes...a new regime might want to waste more wages....sorry I mean invest in Gray

Erm, this should be obvious shouldn't it? If I was looking to buy a business I wouldnt' be keen on them selling off major assets during the negotiations. If they did I'd be lowing my offer by that amount every time.

Maybe because even if he does go, Charlton are being asked to cover some of his wages??
  • Come on, who is going to be the first to say:

"How the hell can we get more information from the Barnsley manager than from our own Board?"

    Hold on, I am.
  • perhaps its a ploy by Parky et al to let us know what is going on ?

He chats to managers all the time re buying /selling players and lets it be known that he wants the fans to have certain info that he himself can't divulge...........that way we get to know how the takeover is progressing without anyone "officially" telling us.

    canny or what ?

Perhaps he isnt telling the truth
  • Praps.
  • I hope he goes for whatever we can get.

I've never seen the guy leave the floor, retain possession or score a goal (the last one might be a lie but I can't remember).

There you have it, official or almost.
Golfie has implied that Parky is canny.

    Seriously Golfie, good perceptive post.
