[cite]Posted By: BBClaus[/cite]maybe we just feel like winding up scally.
You know what I think you're right.
that would be further bad PR on the part of the Club. Fans are disillusioned enough at the moment without us suggesting a signing just to wind-up Scally.
[cite]Posted By: MrLargo[/cite]Not delighted with any of those options. Even if it's Jackson, we are still swapping a player with proven scoring ability in League 1 for a player who has only proved himself at League 2 level. McLeod had a great season in League 2 with MK Dons but clearly ain't good enough for anything above that.
Can't understand why it's on the OS, preferred the days when transfer business was conducted in dignified silence.
But it's Dickson in the swap deal, not Mcleod?
What I meant was that when we signed McLeod he was, like Simeon Jackson, on the back of a great season in League 2 but couldn't cut it in higher than that. Would rather keep hold of Dickson who's already shown himself to be a good striker in this division than take a gamble on swapping him for a player who isn't tried and tested at this level.
Barcham seems a bit small for Parky#s preferred type of striker. I think Dennis Oli is injured, so I hope it isn't him. Can't see them letting their best striker (Jackson) go. Sounding more like big Mark - it was Curbs let him go wasn't it.
Gillingham chairman Paul Scally believes his newly-promoted League One club is capable of getting promotion to the Championship this season.
Gills manager Mark Stimson has previously stated that his aim for the new campaign is simply survival.
But Scally told BBC Radio Kent: "We're giving ourselves the opportunity of have another go at the Championship and that will be the task this season.
"And who knows? We might even get back in the Championship first hit."
Responding to Stimson's cautious approach, Scally said: "I think all managers will look to survival first, because they always want to get past that comfort 50-odd points and I understand that.
"But the reality is I think we've got the basis of a team that, if we can keep people relatively injury free, I think we've got the possibility of taking quite a long way.
Scally revealed that he is still working hard to add to the squad before their first league game of the season on Saturday at Swindon Town.
One man he would like to bring back to the club is Charlton striker Chris Dickson.
"I've never worked harder on two or three deals and not got anywhere," added Scally.
"It's been a bit frustrating but we'll keep working and persevering and at some stage in the not too distant future, we'll have the result we're looking for."
"Gillingham have been talking to us about Chris all summer, and we keep telling them he's not going there. We've now said to them that we'll let him go there if they give us one of their strikers in exchange. I won't give you the name of him, but you might be able to guess. If that deal doesn't happen, then Chris isn't going to go there."

Got to be Jackson then hasn't it.
My thoughts exactly and it reads like we are getting pissed off with their efforts to get Dicko for nothing and so we are trying to get them to back off.
I suspect that this is our way of winding them up without actually being accused of "tapping" Jackson up. It is also a retort to the Gills want him so badly that they are prepared to pay £50K to get him.

certainly reads like that on the OS.
This is going to be very different if Parky does this all the time.
I really think we should keep Dicko as i think he'll do well in this league (providing he doesn't just come on for the last ten minutes every week). At least give the kid a chance before you decide he's not good enough. Why do Gillingham want him so badly if he's crap.
I don't think it's particularly smart man management to be honest. Basically he's saying Dickson can leave. Most managers big them up and claim that they won't be going anyplace, until the ink's wet.
I like the way he's talking up the valuations though, something we've not done enough of in the past.
Generally I agree with Bex. We've never really put him in a system that suits him.
from what I've seen I'd prefer Jackson over Dickson. Bit worried though that we have two strikers in Gray and Dickson who know that the manager is willing to offload them and ,in the case of Dickson at least, probably has no confidence in them. Dickson in my opinion showed against Ipswich why I'm happy if he went. Looked disinterested, didn't want the ball unlike Fleets who at least went looking for it and when Dicko dis get it it was always an attempt at a trick or a flick whereas I'd actually rather he tried to control the ball and then either do something himslf or bring someone else into play.
[cite]Posted By: mart77[/cite]Mr. News Shopper, if you had a guess who do u think the Gills striker is??? cheers
I'm guessing it is Jackson Mart. No proof though.
Cheers for the reply fella, and apologies for BFR's rudeness in the other thread. Without your stories we'd have had very little info and a bit of gossip is always exciting!

Nope, Gillingham's top scorer in League 1 the season they got relegated, despite only playing about 15 games.
What is in it for us?
