Now Ive held back for almost a year on this becasue i didn't want to influence other potential charlton fans...
But I have nothing but trouble from this bloody thing... never been ablee to watch a single highlight properly, the main thing I bought it for is the commentary and that has been great and I'm delighted with that... but the video thing just has never worked at all...
So now they have changed it over to a new one and the thing wont even accept my passwrod and just goes to an internet cant find the screen page!!!
So I follow all the direction that basically pulls doen the security of my computer and the thing still doesn't work!!!
So I'm dreading this weekend when were twenty minutes in and Im still f*cking around on my computer trying to get the thing to work!!!!!
Rant over...

However the previous credit card that I used for subscription was recently stolen and as my subscription to CAFCTV is due in a couple of weeks for renewal I emailed and asked them what to do.
They stated that I had to unsubscribe and then re-subscribe! Strange, but I did so. It did not work ... plus I was forced to change my User ID ... and neither of the ID's allowed me access!
After a few more emails they informed me that I can now use the old ID - which is about to expire!
So I am back where I started and still trying to get this fixed.
And, the interviews where the £5 camera is pointing at a lightbulb and the wind is blowing on the microphone.
Only for the commentary It wouldn't be worth it. The goals will be on BBC this year anyway.
Just got an email from them - they will phone me this afternoon to help with setup, so hopefully resolved.
I hope this year will be better as I can't get any UK channels anymore except Sky News.
Anyone who is experiencing any problems should contact customerservices@performgroup.com, and I would urge subscribers to log on to the new Player website and sign in to test it before the weekend.
Obviously, while it's important to launch the service before the start of the season, only a few days beforehand isn't ideal - not least because it involves a huge workload at the busiest time of the season for us.
We were actually the last Player site to launch, so there has been extensive testing on all the other sites which all use the same technology. Charlton staff have also assisted with the testing on our site.
I would lying if I said that hadn't been problems, mainly due to the fact that we are the only club of the 70-odd signed up to FLi that doesn't have the full FLi agreement as we try to preserve our independent status and uniqueness. We are therefore completely different to their usual practices.
But these seem to have been largely resolved - although there may be a few teething problems, which is why I would encourage testing and letting Perform - which runs the website - know asap.
Regarding Saturday's game v Wycombe, there will be full commentary, and we don't envisage any problems because the actual system that gets the audio from BBC LONDON and redirects it to the website hasn't changed, although I'm told the audio quality should improve.
We tested this (on the old CAFC TV website against Barnet - when the problem on the day was from a bad phone line rather than any issue with the commentary or system - so, hopefully, things are ready for Saturday.
We're currently transferring as many of the old CAFC TV video features across to Player manually as possible, because the archive service isn't up and running, so there is plenty of content.
And we also have a new camera (!), although this only arrived the other day and we haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
This should improve the quality of the video markedly, and also makes it much easier for us because we will no longer have to borrow the academy's video camera every time we want to do something........
Hope that helps. MW
I suggested that you offer all of those who paid last season a free month's subscription this season as the service was so awful. You never gave a proper reply if I recall correctly.
Why do you think otherwise that we would subscribe again? Because as football supporters we are mugs? Please treat us as proper paying customers. We deserve a refund.
Despite the temptation I'm going to either go out and come home to read the reports or listen to talk sport.
You've lost a customer in me unless you do something to get me back.
I'm very thick-thinned, so don't worry about that.......
Let's be clear, the club is doing all it can to try to offer a service - audio commentary of games - that a large number of fans have asked for, and complained about when it was absent.
We now provide a service, for a fee, which fans can choose to take up or not. What's more, the club only gets a very small percentage of fans' subscriptions, so it's not as if we can pour the proceeds back into making improvements.
That's not the end of the contract, of course. We (Perform and the club) have a duty to make sure it works, and the club has a duty to provide additional content, of a sufficient standard, to the standard match highlights and commentary that are offered automatically to ensure the service is value for money.
However, I also have to juggle the resources, both in equipment and time, to achieve that.
We have a new camera, so things should improve on that front if we ever get time to learn how to use it!
On the subject of replies, as I've said in my postings before, although I'm an occasional lurker, it's not my intention to post regularly here, but I will do so if I have something to contribute. Now, back to pre-match preparation.....
I will contact you guys.. the truth is Im an absolute lemon when it comes to computers and as soon as cookies get involved and security cards and all the other absolute rubbish these stupid bloody machines start spouting its game over and the thing is lucky it doesnt get tower kicked in....
but anyway that aside I will contact my highly intelligent Danish mate and hopefully he can help... as off now it is next to useless... and ive followed the instructions and, of course, its still next to useless...
its gonna be an 8 hour job as it alwasy is whenever its technical....
and i know its probably because im a bit sh$t with computers...
What a surprise - they never phoned despite 3 emails assuring me they would.
Crap customer service - have chased them again this morning.
the truth of the matter is that i have never been able towatch any of the vids on there... ever...
I reckon it might be because I am a very long way from the origin of the source nut to be frank i havnt got a scooby... i just know it doesnt bloody work...
and ive got a worrying feeling about Saturday....
Why Charlton used a third party to devise a platform that does NOT work with current mac platform system software is bizzare!
I understand that a third party software application may work but that is by the way against bbc policy!, in that it is discrminating against a section of the community, but using it's resources.
I checked with Charlton last season, who confirmed this and had no plans to change this! I would be happy to just hear the audio as a short term solution.
Appreciate that mac users may well be a minority, but there are only two platforms........
Spoke to the club's commercial manager who claimed last year September that they had no plans to do this shortly after the launch..........
'
I will phone them up to confirm that my 'imac' will work, not surprised as the bbc would not normally allow this, and they are the partners with Charlton.i.e. they own the rights.
Tht's the problem I have Shrew. As mentioned above still waiting for them to phone me and sort it out.

If you mean Suthers (there isn't/wasn't a commercial "manager"), I'm sure he would acknowledge that he is not really well placed to comment on technology platforms and would only have been repeating what he had been told. In any case, the platform is completely outside the club's and the BBC's control. The feed is routed through Perform and they have a monopoly of supplying online commentaries under FL licensing arrangements. The club has no option but to use the platform provided or opt out of providing online commentary entirely.
Just need to be sure they haven't charged me twice!
New CAFC TV
Matt, would it be an idea to decommission the old site or redirect the link to the new version? My login still works there BTW but I assume that won't do me any good come game time:
Old CAFC TV
Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
It's probably best to follow the link to Player from the front page of the O/S, and update bookmarks etc.
Log ins should indeed still work on the old site, but you're right, there won't be (or shouldn't be, anyway) any commentary there on Saturday, presuming the old site still exists then.
This can be done by, having accessed the new Player site, pressing 'control' and 'F5' simultaneously.
Well the gentlemen was introduced to me as the commercial manager, that aside Charlton I was informed they had no intention or being in a position to accomadate my request as a mac user!. It was the package they had contracted to use. I am not saying Charlton were wrong, just following there contract.
The machine I use is a bbc machine! in fact, that was the issue I cannot install third party software, and in any case as I stated the bbc does not normally allow third party agreements with plug ins, to stop this very problem occuring. Leeds United do not have a bbc contract by the way, Bates runs his own set up, or did last season.......
In short I did not expect Charlton to sort out an issue for a few people like myself which I accepted.
