Slightly or very obscure bad/short-lived ones....Mike Small, Simeon Hodson (remember him?) Danny O'Shea, John McDonald (although he did play in wins at Cheslea and v Everton!) Jim Stannard, John Vaughan (dropped Trevor Aylott's shot over his head a Palace equaliser at The Valley), Martin Duffield.
Obscure ones on whom the jury is still out.....Ricky Otto, Kevin Scott, Leroy Rosenior, Lee Power.
Matt Jackson was a good one too, not to mention Neil Heaney who of course played his part inthatgame and also probably the strongest run in to a season during the Curbishley years.
Add Jason Lee to the "jury's out" category. Not sure that's the best term for it, though. Likely to make Ricky nervous...

I don't think it's over analysing to point out that no club has confirmed these two players have left, or other clubs to confirm they have signed them.
We could still sign them or we might not even want them, we could have other targets that are close to signing.
You're right though, we need to sort out the squad as soon as possible. If any of the main players get injured we don't have enough cover at the moment (thats including Sam, not just the defence, Wade Small could provide that cover and competition).
Seeing as Parky mentioned his liking of Mvoto, and indeed our semi interest in getting him on loan during the summer of last year, at one of the Q&A's, i thought i'd just update that Southend fans really liked him and are hoping that he'll sign on loan again before the end of the window.
