[cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]Jesus, this thread is priceless. What the f*ck does it matter what they do? They have jobs and one must assume that they are doing them otherwise they wouldn't have them any more, would they.
A judgement not shared by any member of staff whatsoever, to my knowledge.
Ha ha - I bet there's at least one person who thinks each of them are doing a decent enough job.
Fact is, I don't know and I don't really care. It just seems to me that some people constantly want a witch hunt and these three are the latest targets. Pathetic really.
Sorry Off It, but something is wrong in the House of Charlton.
I believe it is fair comment to raise the issue that the Club employs both a CEO and Deputy CEO, particularly as one of them has gone on record asking for as many people as possible to renew their STs to assist with the negative finances we have.
Cut backs are being made across the board, people have been made redundant, yet we still continue to employ a CEO - who we've heard NOTHING from since the season ended and a Deputy CEO who is obviously making the CEO's tea now that Suzi's left.
northstandsteve wasting your time mate certain people love to kiss arse my old son we had 11 players on the pitch last year that did fck all last year and they are still employed.

Agree whole heartedly. It's people burying there head in the sand that have allowed us to get in this mess.
Haha regarding the tea - not on your nelly would dep ceo be making it! That's really tickled me. Mr capelin is a lovely fella but making tea is not one of his skill sets! Anyway, this is a lighthearted slant on a serious situation.
The dep ceo title is out of date and capelin doesn't support waggott in that way. He's responsible for legal/corporate/insurance issues as well as some financial gubbins which is a bit of his role but its not really deputising for waggott.
To put on record here the notion that we should, indeed do, love the sinner hate the sin. The sweetness of the individuals is not in question, there is not really scapegoating or witch hunting going on so much as incredulity that possibly three individuals are employed for the same cost as running a whole football club. One can't be suprised if people want to take their wage and keep their heads down, but in the case of at least one person they should also not be suprised if some of the things they do attract criticism. If it's then a case of 'don't shoot the messenger', then we're back to my personal obsession as to how much non decision makers should be paid. We are sloshing around in a vacuum at the moment, and it is no suprise if that space is not filled with speculation, criticism, worry, rumour, hope, in-fighting and the like. We need the football to return so as to focus our attention on the team winning matches, in the mean time all we are left with is our worries.

Surely that's the remit of SK as the Financial Director?

That was my thought exactly.....dont suppose we could get a straight answer if the question was asked......
Erm no, financial director ran the accounts dept, oversaw wages, management accs etc, more football club stuff, dep ceo did plc stuff incl shareholder stuff. I can't list job descriptions as I don't know fully obviously!
Every FD I've worked with has dealt with Corporate and Insurance issues as well as oversaw legal matters.
As a shareholder, the only contact I've had with Capelin is either notification of the AGM and the Annual Accounts - both of which do not have to be dealt with by a Deputy CEO.
For all NSS's ranting (You really must calm down mate a ball has not even been kicked yet this season) I do think he has a point. The term Too many Chiefs spring to mind.
PS Have we seriously only got one pro Centre half on the books ? IF so that is a F****in disgrace.
[cite]Posted By: chingfordjim[/cite]are we not being guided to the lower leagues by these three?
What specifically is it that you, and others, think they're doing that you'd handle differently?
just stating a fact...
Well, not really. What I mean is that you could argue that Murray, Varney and various managers have had more influence over the club's direction. Most people on here are guessing that they don't do much, but you are saying that they're responsible for our demise, so I'm interested in whether you've got a reason for that, or if you're just guessing.
Personally I don't know, and I suspect most of those speculating like experts really don't have a clue either.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend Millwall as a role model for us but the delectable (in some peoples eye) Heather Rabbatts is no longer there and has not been replaced according to my Spanner shareholder colleague.
Do we really need three CEO/MD type people in division 3?
In the Prem it was Varney and Capelin I believe.
In division 3 it is Waggott, Kavanagh and Capelin.
It does seem strange when so many others have received the tin tac.
It wouldnt be so bad if all three had taken a pay cut to reflect the club's reduced circumstances and needs, but that hasn't happened. Cuts in this area would help to fund a decent playing management team. That's one reason why this question is important to us, and its legitimate that we take an interest in it.
It's odd that some people believe waggott spends a lot of time writing articles for the programme - you know we have a communications department don't you?

So are you saying that the Executive Director's column is ghost written?
Next you'll be telling us that the Manager doesn't write his programme notes, either!
Or the Junior Reds page!!
I've heard that Steve Waggott personally does the "Spot the 5 Differences" photo captions which are so much fun. So, obviously, he writes his own programme notes.
Afterall, he is a former football journalist.
