How Well Will Padrew do at Saints?

  • Didn't he once start off well, beat his old club 4-0, but then get relegated anyway?
  • He wont do as well as Parky will at Charlton and thats all that matters
  • Not sure, would pardew have presided over the worst winless streak in the club's history? I doubt it,
  • Thought we were talking about next season not the past.
  • Fine, I can only fairly compare parky and pardew on their respective performances on last season rather than speculating on next season.
I anticipate that he will give a short(ish) feel good boost to southampton and we will struggle, though I hope that I am wrong.
  • who cares
  • If you are comparing them on last season dont you think a lot of reasons Parky took us through that record breaking streak was because of pardews F**k ups?
  • they will do the double over us!
  • so will millwall
  • the blinkers are off!

    and ducks for cover.....

I suspect that parky's evian guzzling platitude and absence of footballing ideas and tactics might just have been a factor. 19 games without a win is stretching the blame a little bit to far on pardew, surely?

    A post by RU1986:
I cant believe this man can leave us to go to a club with no morals in the same league when he was partly the reason we were relegated (not the full reason but a big part). So he goes to a club who are clearly paying him more than we were for a job were he could have been with us ridiculous have lost any small amount of respect i had left for the man with this move saints are one of the most sucky clubs in this country (Leeds Wanabees). Ha ha

What a stupid comment. Whilst I respect most peoples views on us appointing Pardew as our manager, this one made me chucle. How on earth are we one of the most 'sucky' clubs in this country and Leeds 'wannabees'?

Oh and RU1986 - Your other comment you sound very bitter that we have been taken over by a billionaire. 'Why would they buy saints over us' etc. Markus (New owner of Saints) fell in love with the club the moment he stepped foot into the stadium and made a firm offer. He loved the passion of the fans and the love we have for our club. And our debt was smaller than your current debt (If papers are correct).
  • No one at Southampton will ever been as impressed with Pardont as the "Big Time Charlie" is with himself.

What the f**k has Evian got to do with it ????
  • You're speaking c4fcdenmark to someone who i believe may know a tiny bit more about the ins and outs than you!

He may not but I believe what he says has a lot of truth in it!
  • Who is Padrew?

    Ha ha ha Quality
  • I think they will struggle under him and finish midtable. PP knows the type of players that you need to get you out of League 1. Alan Poodoo will have no idea and will completely fcuk it up again. With the money that has just been injected into Southampton, I'm frankly gobsmacked that they have recruited a manager with such a poor recent track record.

Saints fan, I would be a bit worried if I was you. Charlton fans are not particularly known for their vitriol and most of us are fairly good natured, indeed almost reasonable. The fact Is that the vast majority of us think Pardew is a complete turd who never let poor results and terrible performances get in the way of his inflated ego. Whatever he might go on to tell you about charlton his time and performance at this club were woeful.
He may do a job for you. But IMHO unless he has recognised that he was truly awful with us then he may well screw you over like he did us.
    You have been warned.

Sorry mate, but if one of our fans started spouting all that nonsense about a foreign (or even British) buyer or player falling in love with the passion of the fans, I'd pick them up on it. He fancied owning a football club and he saw an opportunity to get a club with a decent infrastructure and support, at a reasonable cost. Hope it works out for you, wish someone had taken us over: but don't be kidding yourself about the motive.

Pardew has clearly done well elsewhere - and did OK for us in the first half season, so clearly has ability: but there's two areas to watch. His signings for us were mostly terrible, particularly the string of forwards from lower leagues and abroad. His training was supposed to be terrible and fitness was poor. Too much pandering to the players rather than treating them as professional athletes (that's just my take on it). I don't wish failure on him, or anything, but I just don't think he's a good manager. Bear in mind this is a bloke that was whining because his chairman gave him Tevez and Mascherano.

Like Dowie before him, tactically he was poor. Curbs spoilt us in this regard.

    HA HA HA

Yet you went into Admin and we have only been "reported" to be close to it!
  • In Pardew, we were looking for a saviour. Instead we got a sinner. He'll be there for you when times are good - he'll run a mile when times are bad. A vain coward with a tremendously inflated opinion of himself, who built a team without a spine, without balls, without a backbone; but with bulging pay packets and shiny new cars.

Mick Collins has a good line in his When Saturday Comes feature on us - "he never knowingly passed a mirror without a pause".

Agree with everything you said apart from this- he wouldn't run away, that was part of the problem.

Our debt lasted for years until we went into admin, there was always talk about it and it happened out of the blue.

And up until the end of last season, you were still getting your payments for getting relegated from the PL.

I would be delighted with a midtable finish, considering we are bottom on -10.

The problem was that he went into denial when things went wrong, blaming everyone except himself.

He was interviewed on R5 on Monday night, the gist of the interview was that he "has learnt a few lessons".

One thing he has in his favour are low expectations after a couple of poor years and administration and most Saints fans are going to be happy that they are still alive and kicking. Realistically his success is going to be based on how he's going to lift a squad that are starting with a ten point penalty, that will take at least four games to erase and more likely seven/eight, and possibly as many as ten games. If they start off poorly then any chance of direct promotion is zero.
