Smaller than Ashley Cole?
About 5 ft 6 or 7 I think.

[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]Said it was a decent run out, no injuries or problems. PP wanted to have a look at the trialists and give the younger players a good run out. Wexford had one chance all game. As AFKA said PP was raving about Solly. No1 said Llera looked better than at Welling.
The boy leaps like a salmon! But he may later move up to a wingers role!
Yeah he does, not saying he definitely won't play in the Prem, but it's probably the main thing about him that might put managers off buying him.
I thought he looked good a year and a half ago in the youth cup against Blackburn, really good to see he's carried on progressing well and that Parkinson seems to really rate him.
There have been plenty of good defenders who have lacked height, good defending is as much about anticipating and reading the game, his lack of physical prowess might encourage him to develop those skills.

Of course, and I agree with Oggy about his attitude as well. He seems pretty decent at reading the game and he could well be very good at it later on in his career.
Though it's why I find Mambo harder to judge, he's never been matched physically or come up against a really good striker whenever I've seen him. Would be interesting to see how he does against better and physically good strikers.
[quote][cite]Posted By: Swisdom[/cite][quote][cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]PP asked that the names of the trialiists not be given out on here just now.
Sure they will come out eventually but not the same as welling and two experienced league players[/quote]
ok lets play guess who......do they wear glasses? does one have a big nose? Does the defender have a moustache?[/quote]
How can we even be sure that it was PP that asked? For all we know it might have been a Shape Shifter from THE CONSORTIUM!!!
the voice of reason WSS well said , it sounds like a pointless exercise playing a really poor team that we can beat, it's something we aren't accustomed to and wont be for a long time yet ;-(
I am reliably informed one was a Mr C Tevez and the other a Mr S Eto............but I could be wrong. My "source" was in Ireland but the connection back via mobile was not too good.

with Youga and Basey in the building I would have thought left back would have been one of the last positions we are looking at. Unless of course the rumours of Youga to Real for 27.5m are correct.
Charlton Athletic became the first ever English side to play in Ferrycarrig Park on Sunday evening when they strolled to a 3-0 victory over Wexford Youths. Deon Burton opened the scoring with a 14th minute penalty and his goal was followed by a brace from second half substitute Chris Dickson who scored in the 65th and 88th minutes respectively.
The game was being dubbed as The Mark Kinsella Charlton Challenge and Charlton fielded a side filled with a blend of experience and youth team players. Wexford started the better team with a performance filled with passion and spirit. Richie Fitzgerald stood out for Mick Wallace's men as he gave full back Chris Solly a horrid time.
However, Wexford Imploded in the 14th minute when reserve keeper Pa Doyle rushed out of his goal, but Irale McLeod tipped the ball around him and Doyle pulled him down in the box. Charlton were awarded a penalty and Ex-Derby County and Jamaican International Deon Burton stood up and slotted it away neatly. The goal really knocked the stuffing out of the Youths and it took them a while to get going again.
Captain Matt Spring was fantastic in the middle of the park for The Addicks and was well supported by Ex-Arsenal midfielder Graham Barrett. Charlton had a great chance to double their lead in the 26th minute when McLeod ran at defender David Breen and he smashed a shot across the box that just whizzed past the back post, Burton tried to reach it, but narrowly missed.
The Youths best chance best chance of the first half came in the 28th minute when captain Conor Sinnott sent a free kick down the mouth of the Charlton goal, but Bray native Darren Randolph saved comfortably. Charlton seemed content with their lead and they started to play a bit of keep ball, but in the 39th minute Graham Barrett missed the chance to double their lead when he headed over a Kelly Youga cross.
Charlton deservedly went in leading at the break.
Wexford had the first real chance of the second half when Conor Sinnott laid a free kick off to Johnny Flynn O'Connor who sent a rasping shot towards goal, but Randolph made the save. Charlton made numerous changes in the second half including new signing Miguel Llera and 17-year-old starlet Jonjo Shelvey.
Shelvey has recently been linked with a host of Premier League teams and it was clear to see why. His passing and vision was beyond his tender age and he stroked the ball around the pitch with ease. Charlton did get their second goal in the 65th minute when substitutes Chris Dickson and Nickey Bailey combined. Bailey ran down the left hand side and fizzed in a cross and Dickson got ahead of Anto Russell and volleyed into the bottom right hand corner, leaving Doyle with no chance.
In the 82nd minute Dickson had a chance to get his second of the game, when Doyle dropped the ball and Dickson looked certain to score, but credit to Doyle he got back and made up for his error. Wexford had a chance to get a goal that their performance deserved when second half substitute Muzzi Mullen found himself one on one with Randolph in the 86th minute, but the Ireland U21 keeper saved well. Wexford were punished moments later when Dickson did get his second of the game when he ran onto a Shelvey pass and smashed the ball past the helpless Pa Doyle in the 88th minute.
The game finished up 3-0 and was great preparation for Charlton who begin life in League One with a home fixture to Wycombe Wanderers. For Wexford it’s their second defeat of the weekend and they will be hoping to bounce back against UCD next Friday.
After the game Wexford manager Mick Wallace said “I felt the score line didn’t reflect the effort my team put in. We had a lot of U18 players out there tonight and this is huge experience for them".
Wexford Youths: Pa Doyle; Johnny Flynn O'Connor; Keith Kearney; David Breen; Anto Russell; Conor Sinnott; Gareth McCurtin (Muzzi Mullen, '75th); Richie Fitzgerald (Garry Sheahan, '66th); Shane Sinnott (Robert Vickers, '51st); Jimmy Keohane (Gareth Wallace, '82nd); Martin Keohoe (Kevin Rowe, '51st)(Robert Dempsey for Rowe, '75th).
Charlton Athletic: Darren Randolph; Chris Solly; Kelly Youga; Alex Stavmirov; Chris O'Leary (Miguel Llera, '51st); Grant Basey (Therry Racon, '51st); Graham Barrett (Nickey Bailey '45th); Matt Spring (Tamer Tuna '75th); Inale McLeod (Chris Dickson '51st); Deon Burton (Jonjo Shelvey '51st); Scot Wagstaff (Lloyd Sam '51st).
Attendance: 501
Referee: Sean Grant
Extratime.ie Man of the Match: Chris Dickson: The substitute bagged a brace and is pace and power was a constant threat to the Youths defenders.

oh, isn't it exciting. Can't wait, who could it be. Can we even afford them now.

There you have it. This proves that D.I.C.K.O will be leading goalscorer in this season's Johnson's Paint Trophy.
Inale McLeod
What else they gonna call Izzy McLeod next?
Anal McLeod?
not sure I agree
