Wexford v Charlton - Match Thread (Final Score, 3-0 to Charlton)

edited July 2009 in General Charlton
News coming in from Wexford, we're starting with a youthful side with a couple of trialists. Racon expected to feature at some point, as is Fortune. One of the trialists is from Swansea.

    Thanks for the info : - )
  • Good news about Fortune and Racon. We can probably assume Fortune will be staying. Thought he would.

Any idea what position this trialist plays? I saw in the (now deleted) thread Henry made it might be someone called Chris Barrett. A quick search and I can't find any footballer called Chris Barrett anywhere, nevermind Swansea.

Neither could I and I was going to ask if you knew. I've asked so we shall see.
  • I googled Chis Barrett + football and got to wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Barrett_(football_player)

    ...and got:

"23:51, 26 July 2008 Rjd0060 (talk | contribs) deleted "Chris Barrett (football player)" ‎ (Deleted because expired WP:PROD; Reason given: Non-notable former player.) "

So we are giving a trial to a football player not considered good enough to have a page on wikipedia...
  • The name Chris Barratt is incorrect. PP not keen on Trialists names being put out for now.

    Starting 11:

    Randolph

    Solly
    trialist
    Basey
    Youga

    Wagstaff
    Spring
    Stavrinou
    Trialist

    Burton
    McLeod

OK, I give up Dan, you can type faster than me.
  • Looks like Bailey is not involved ( might not be on tour) and Fortune is not fit but hear he should be for start of season.
  • Looks like Basey is the new C/H.
  • Good player that " A Trialist". Has scored lots of goals in scotland.
  • I sure hope theres another 11 coming out at half time... that's a relegation team

  • Bailey has been spotted all kitted out so looks like he will be on in the 2nd half !!
  • He's East Stirlings top player.
    Leave him there.........
The 'Shire are going up !!
  • Panic over. Bailey, has been spotted in Charlton red and white.

10 mins gone and 0 - 0 Scrappy and a bit "blowz". No idea what that means. Any Irish Addicks help us out?

No reason to panic yet. Even if a few players leave that is clearly not going to be anything like our starting 11. Burton and Youga could well be the only ones that start against Wycombe. Spring if others leave.

Crowd of 800 ish gone wild as Burton puts the Addicks 1 - 0 up from the spot with only 18 mins gone.

No, not really, it's a young inexperienced side in the main as AFKA says below - might be what our reserve team could look like, reserve league or not.

    Burton ..... joint leading goalscorer.

    ;o)
  • Any idea who got hacked down for the pen?
  • McLeod.

Went around keeper who then tripped him. Only got a yellow.

Stav and Spring starting to dominate a youthful Wexford side in the middle.

CB trialist looks "useful". Other trialist out on left wing not up to much yet.
  • It's what McLeod is good at ...... strong running and winning pens.

He used to take them himself at MK Dons.
    I know, I've watched Pardew's video.

    ;o)

    [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]McLeod.

The player we would have probably all guessed.

They're in the middle of their season, are they not playing their strongest team?
  • Because this is a friendly and they don't want to risk their first team I guess.

McLeod has a less than stone wall pen appeal turned down on 33 mins (keeper again) before Randolph is called into action for the first time on 35 mins

How do you know all this henners?? are you there??

Yeah that makes sense, I just wasn't sure if this was their strongest team or not.

Stavrinou and Spring dominating is probably very different against a couple of young back up central midfielders than it is against their first choice CMs.

No, new owners have set up a video link in the boardroom. Picture quality not great but hey what can you expect
