Frazer Richardson from a Leeds point of view.

edited July 2009 in General Charlton
Hi guys. Just seen that you have signed our longest serving player. Well to be honest it is quite a good signing for you and has had some good seasons with us. He can be a little clumsy at times when he is trying to clear the ball and end up giving it away but he does have plenty of pace and experience and personally I expected him to go to the championship. He loves to push forward and can out run a lot of people in this league and willplay well with confident players.
Some Leeds fans didnt rate him but to be fair there are a lot worse RB in this league,he is also a very commited player and will do him good to have a fresh challenge.
Put it this way he is a much better signing than Kandol.!!!

  • Cheers spainboy, much appreciated. -if you look at an earlier frazier thres I quoted a few leeds fans. Mixed opinions, but I got the impression we were signing a player for this league.

One question. Why did leeds not want to keep him ?
  • Leeds were in negotiations with him for about 2 weeks but nothing was agreed with both parties. No one knows exactly why but I did get the impression that he wasnt in grayson's plans. He was part of our shoddy defence at Xmas although u cant really pinpoint that on one player. We signed Jason Crowe who the Manager probably regarded as a better player and I can imagine that Richardson may have been on a decent wage with us anyway so he probably did it to cut costs too.
I think Grayson wants fresh faces in defence in all honesty and build his own back 4 rather than have the one he inherited.I think he will be one of your better players this season for sure and i know all leeds fans will wish him well. He is a good lad.!!
  • Interesting comments.

Still intrigued as to why Parky got Richardson in rather than Murty. Maybe it was wages or that FR is about 8 years younger but most managers like to have players they know in the squad.

Maybe evidence of PP being more ruthless than some thought as well as having a longer term plan.

As good a cultured experienced player Murty was he did have a lot of injury problems now his legs are getting on, so I expect that might have been the deciding factor forgetting wages.

maybe it was because we couldn't afford Murty or maybe Murty didn't want to come because he wanted to play at a higher level. Who knows. As with everything else at the moment we are guessing. Maybe even he was brought in by the new manager. How do you know Parky has a long term plan ? I hope his plan doesn't extend past the weekend.
  • Murty is at Southampton.
  • [cite]Posted By: guinnessaddick[/cite]Murty is at Southampton.

for how long though? They havn't even got a lame duck manager at the moment.
  • They have a billionaire owner
  • Not sure why we got him in full stop. Moutakill obviously off now, I wonder why PP doesn't rate him while the French U21 manager thought highly enough to make him captain. What went on behind the scenes? Will we get back any of the £400k paid? I can't imagine Richardson is as talented.

Where does this leave Semedo, IMHO one of the more talented members of the squad? Assuming Bailey is off, he will still be behind Racon, Shelvey and possibly Spring for a midfield berth.
  • r.e Semedo above Spring I hope!

  • I'd also have him as first choice right back to be honest.

Don't suppose all that Moo2 did will ever come out, but I've heard some bits from good sources that suggest he'll not be getting back in the team in a hurry. Presume he's another on a silly wage because I suspect we'd let him go on a free if there were any takers.
  • This is what Richardson's agent said :-

"Frazer had a few options and, if he'd been a bit more patient, there might have been other things.

But Charlton, in many ways, has got a similar feel to Leeds about it, although it's in London. They've a good, young manager there and Frazer's excited about the new challenge.

There was quite a bit of interest. He very nearly went to Swansea, but then Roberto Martinez went to Wigan – we were 90 per cent of the way through with that one, but it fell through.

"It's fair to say there were possibilities of clubs in the Championship that he could have gone to, but he wanted to go to a club he felt were a bigger club in League One."
  • I have a feeling that this one will work out.
  • A good signing i think but it does piss me off we have a perfectly good right back in moutakil.why cant parky even try him instead of playing a two bob trialist from maidstone

The reasons why he does not play are posted everywhere.

And, if they are true, regardless of his ability he should not be playing. Disciplinary procedures are there for a reason.

He must know something we don't then...

I'd like to see him play, but there seems to be plenty of reasons behind it, not just what goes on in the games he's played.

I think Semedo would have done a good job there, though at least we have good competition there now. Solly coming through as well.

Reasons or rumours? He'd be perfectly justified in throwing his toys out of the pram after the way he has been continually overlooked. I suggest he didn't get dropped because of any disciplinary issue but PP didn't fancy him.

That's true but no one really knows what happened off the pitch.

We got to a game early around January, saw Yassin and he said "it is over for me, Parky does not like me". That was back then and I don't think anything has changed since.

I think both things are in place here. Traditional English managers just cannot get their head around an attacking full back, which is why Parky would much rather a Craine or Butters blundering around their own half of the field rather than giving the opposition winger and fullback something to worry about. I suspect if we had Alves at the club Parky would be scouring Blackpool reserves in the hope of finding a full back that will never abandon his half. But, Moots has also done enough to get him binned out of a more solvent club.

  • I'm sorry? Rumours on Mouts which may have happened, but the idiotic treatment of Mouts by Parky and Pardew goes to show their piss poor man management. But to all intents Mouts has been reported to be a pro that works hard and is committed, albeit one who doesn't go out drinking with a bunch of untalented useless footballers.

Perhaps if idiots like Parkinson didn't feel happy about ostracising players which cost this club 7 figure fees to buy and then in wages, resources wouldn't have been mis-managed and wasted on much shitter full backs in the guise of Halford, Cranie and Butterfield. That is the much bigger mis-management at the club than a 'supposed' behavioural problem from Mouts; no doubt one with roots that show up Parky's ineptness in the first place.

Still another full back who is error prone will just slot in to make Youga feel better at being the worst positioned full back in the village.

I thought it was another players Mum not wife. Even so affairs go on everywhere, the wife/Mum is as much to blame as Moots. Anyway, that alone shouldn't stop Parky picking Moots, surely it's about football ability not prowess in the bedroom.

If that's the case, you either ship him out permanently or on loan away from the club or get the two players together and tell them act like adults and that stuff like that gets left behind at the training ground gates. What you don't do is have them train together, but punish the offender by dropping him while still paying his wages.

I'm assuming the cuckold is a more valued player?
