Oi. New Owners

edited July 2009 in General Charlton
Stop pissing about and do the deal.

I'm fed up with hearing the words 'very close', 'two weeks away' and 'due dilligence'.

If you know who we are, what we are and what we aspire to, then you are either with us or you should sod off and buy Palace.

How difficult can it be? If you really want to buy the club, move us on, both on and off the field, then why all the dithering?

You've seen the books, you've spoken to the people who matter, you must have the money otherwise you wouldn't come to the table in the first place, you've visited the ground and the training ground, you've seen the strength of the squad.

SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITNG FOR? To see if you can get NECTAR points as well!

    D`oh
  • Don't knock it..they still want us :)
  • Lets start having ago at the potential buyers now, that'll encourage them !
  • Nick talks like that all the time.

If you think that was bad try waking him up at 8.00am after an late night session cos some French bloke wants him to move his car. Scary I can tell you ; - 0

Good that's the general idea - something is very worrying about this takeover. If the Board were happy about it then the deal would have gone through by now. If the new owners are serious then they need to put their money where there mouth is, instead of pissing everybody off.

With all this dithering, I'm beginning to believe they may not be the right people for the Club.

Don't tell me the new owners are French!!!!

We'd have a whole team of fall backs ;-)

i'm sure your motives are good seth, but sometimes it seems that people can be a bit too negative. there are complaints that the takeover hasn't happened and then complaints about the new owners before the deal has even happened and before we even know who the buyers are. we really don't have enough information at this stage, so can't we at least wait till it goes through and then judge?
  • see your point BBClaus, but I can equally see the other.

There is nothing wrong in being concerned when so little is known of those seeking to acquire the club

I'm looking forward to having new owners so I can slag them off constantly and irrationally

Fed up with having to be reasonable and balanced about the current lot just because they did something good once a long time ago and put a couple of bob in.
  • i know that if people are concerned then it's because they care about the club and where its going, but when this is all finished we'll have more information to go on.

I hope that this takeover is what we want it to be because plenty of people have bought clubs for the 'wrong' reasons or havent been up to the job of running one. But RM and the rest are going to lose plenty of money from this deal (or so that SLP story said) and they wouldn't do that unless they thought this deal was in the club's interests.

Like Stu said, the delays could just as easily be caused by people already involved in the club, not the buyers.

Being serious for a minute I agree up to a point.

We don't know who they are, what their backgrounds are and most important for me what their motives are.

How long it took for them to do the deal, if it ever happens, will soon become irrelevant, IMHO, when we see them in action. We will then be able to judge them on how they run the Club, how well they consider our history and communicate with and listen to the fans.

For me the major plus in their favour at the moment is that Peter Varney, for all his involvement in the recent decline, is a Charlton fan from a Charlton family who cares as passionately as anyone of us on here.
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Peter Varney,

Do we definitely know that he has been involved? If so it is indeed re-assuring.
  • I think everyone should all sit tight and wait for all (or nothing) to be revealed.

I think we are pretty certain of that now Bing

He might have nothing to do with it though.

i am led to believe that he is and has been pivotal in all parts of the deal being brokered

No, we don't but it seems that he maybe. That is what has been said in the SLP and elsewhere.
  • Do we know if PV's brother Sir David is a Charlton fan?
  • In the words of Gary Barlow, "have a little patience”
  • [cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]In the words of Gary Barlow, "have a little patience”

    In the words of my little one when she's in the car," are we there yet?" ;-0}
  • i promised myself i wouldn't get drawn in again, now finding myself getting excited again i hope this turns out to be everything everybody wants.
  • [cite]Posted By: guinnessaddick[/cite]Do we know if PV's brother Sir David is a Charlton fan?

There dad was a fan. No idea on PV's brother

This is my biggest concern. What if we end up with a 'Jordanesque' Chairman?

My understanding is that PV is out there trying to find a buyer, not actually involved with the individual/consortium who are looking at buying the Club. RM quite clearly told us that.

Which may not have been the full truth.
