From the OS - Hudson is the seventh player to depart The Valley this summer, following Harry Arter, Darren Ambrose, Svetoslav Todorov, Nicky Weaver, Aswad Thomas and Rashid Yussuff after the expiry of their contracts.
JOSH WRIGHT, the ex-Charlton ace, is a target for Scunthorpe, Leeds and Blackpool.
The cash-strapped Addicks were forced to let the England Under- 19 midfielder leave for nothing because they could not afford to renew his contract.
Wright, 19, spent the end of last season on loan at Gillingham and starred in their League Two play-off final win over Shrewsbury at Wembley.

[cite]Posted By: kentred2[/cite]Charlton let him go and 3 bigger clubs come in for him ........ must say something about Charlton's dire position and gross mismanagement
What a strange thing to say......could it have something to do with the fact that most Addicks (the coaching staff included) think he's not really that great a prospect?
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Gillingham don't seem to want him despite him playing for them last season.
Perhaps they can't afford his wages?
No matter what people think of him, he's still young and has the talent to do well for us, especially at the level we're at now. I thought he did ok in his brief appearances for us last season. Can definitely see him being one we'll regret not keeping. If the likes of Bailey, Racon, ZZ and Shelvey leave us then the decision not to keep Wright will look a bit silly.
He's a 19 year old kid who hasn't knuckled down since he was on loan to Barnet a year or so ago.
Somebody ought to whisper in his ear - there's a lot of gifted players that don't make it in the game, and many others who make their mark because they applied themselves and didn't get distracted.
Decent prospect at this level, nothing more IMO. If we hold onto Sam, Bailey, Racon, Shelvey then we don't really need him. Kevin Nicholls (Luton) would be a better replacement anyway and must be available on a free at low wages now they are relegated.

We won't hold onto all of them though. For a start, Bailey is as good as sold.
The decision to let him go seems to have more to do with attitude. He was pissed off that having been told that he was playing that he was dropped and refused to travel. Unacceptable insubordination or riteous desire to play, it depends on whether you're a blinkers-on or blinkers-off charlton fan. Personally, I think he would be a better option than many we might keep in that position. Like a few players I suspect it was more a matter of who the manager is for next season, rather than the money that would have influenced his decision.
Slow maybe but thought he was decent and looked to try and pass the ball. Thought he was one of the better players in the game he played at the Valley around Xmas.
His first team chances do seem quite limited at the moment but as said that will depend on which midfielders stay or go.
I suspect that like a few other players at many many clubs the expected offers are not flooding in and this piece reads like an agent doing his job.
Going to be a lot of lower league unemployed players this summer what with the recession and loss of Setanta money.
May also be some truth in that he doesn't want to stay if Parkinsella stays but beggers can't always be choosers
The thing is he's been a promising talent for a few years now, and should be playing first team football at this level or possibly Championship level if he's going to fulfill his potential. He won't be able to do that here, so a move looks to be his only option if he wants to grow.
Difficult to judge in 3 games, but I thought he aqquited himself well in fifficult circumstances when he did play, seems a pity to lose him having not given him a proper chance.
What Oggy said, get the feeling from him after a good season at Barnet he hasn't carried on developing like he had previously. Up to him if he wants it or not. Could end in League One and Two for the rest of his career if he doesn't really try to push himself that bit further. Not all about effort but also doing more than just enough to get by. Last time I saw him live was against Brighton for the reserves, he was nothing more than ok. With the midfielders we had hear (and at least for now, still do) just doing ok and not making mistakes isn't enough. We've got midfielders that like to run with the ball, create space, score goals, get more tackles in and generally just a bit more involved and in control.
When we were relegated I hoped he'd eventually break into the team, but it's just not happened for him. Partly that's down to us having a lot of midfielders, but a lot of it's got to be down to him to show that's he's better than them. At the moment he's not.
there was talk of rifts in the squad during the last couple of seasons and JW has been highlighted a couple of times as having an attitude problem - if there's any truth in this, it could be why were are not too disappointed if he goes. Talentwise one would hope he is good enough for this level but he might need regular first team action to help him focus on football more than clubbing, maybe.

Former Charlton Athletic midfielder Josh Wright has become the club's first signing of the summer, penning a two-year deal.
The skilful 19-year-old joins after being released by the Addicks.
He impressed during a loan spell with Gillingham, appearing eight times in all competitions and shining in the League Two play-off final against Shrewsbury Town at Wembley last season.
Wright also impressed while at Brentford at the beginning of the previous campaign, appearing five times.
In addition, he made 35 appearances, scoring once, for Barnet the year before.
The England U19 international only appeared on three occasions for Charlton, who released him as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
GOOD ON HIM. Leaves us on a free for a better standard of football. Mugged off by Parky last season so who can blame the lad. Who next to leave the sinking ship ? Bailey ?

OH, and we couldn't even offer him enough to match his last contract to ensure we got even a development fee.

Looks like Wright hasn't gone... yet
Still a chance of keeping him.

More like "Did not want to renew his contract".

seems to be more of a wannabe than a grafter and I won't miss him
if he does well then fair play - but I think a move could be best for everyone

Saw him at Norwich in the cup - worst of our youngsters playing that day.
Not been impressed by him at Home either - lightweight and slow
See Ya Josh - and take your Dad with you.
