Thinking about it, Shelvey isn't particularly quick. Just we have slower players at the moment and he's always finding space so it doesn't show as much as it does with others.
Mmmm difficult one this because some players LOOK like they are slow but in fact aren't (if you get my meaning) Jorge Costa being a classic example.
However it must be said that Hasselbaink was slow in all departments....though the same couldn't be said of his agent!

Very true that some players look slow but are not.
Leaburn is perhaps the best example of that. Slow leg speed but massive stride.
I remember a game (Newcastle away I think) where Leaburn, Micky Bennett (pre injury) and Paul Williams broke virtually the length of the field leaving all the Newcastle players for dead. Carlo matched Micky Bennett for pace whom, before his injury, would be a candidate (although not my personal choice) for fastest Charlton player.
[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Was that our 3-0 away win at Newcastle, where Leaburn broke his duck ?
We won the Newcastle game, not sure if it was 3-0, but I thought Carlo broke his duck at Villa Park when it pinballed off nearly every other player on the pitch but he claimed it anyway!
Steve Brown is a total hero, and could get up a head of steam once he got going, but someone (Mick Collins? Kevin Nolan? Airman Brown?) once described him as having "the turning circle of the Ark Royal", and I really couldn't disagree.

And doesn't the legendary Peter 'who ate all the pies?' Garland get a mention?
And for Johnny Come Lately's *smiley winky thing* , Andy Reid never remotely looked like breaking the world land speed record.
Oh, you meant CAFC not CIFC.
runs like he's on roller skates

He could play well in midfield either behind the strikers or just in front of the defence, but never both in the same match.
Nope, don't agree.
JJ had a reputation as pacy at Glasgow Rangers (you know, the blue Celtic).
;o)
And he had a fair turn of speed here at Charlton too.
I think you have to give the player a little credit.

Firstly, I think anyone who rated him after the first too months or so is giving him too much credit - slow, weak and a poor finsher.
Secondly, have you ever sen my Nan run? Then you can't disagree!
Ah come on man be fair....most of the time he was just running on the spot.
Smart Fcker!
