[cite]Posted By: McLovin[/cite]I guess I just don't believe the number, simply on the grounds that I asked someone who would certainly know - this week - what the renewals were like and they told me 3000. This isn't a bloke in the pub type thing, this was someone directly involved in this area. They have no reason to lie to me and I have no reason to lie to you.
Who could you possibly ask that would know better than RM ? I don't normally believe everything I hear which comes out of the club and dont just sycophantically (word?) hang on every word Richard Murray says but if he says a specific number of season tickets have been sold I really, for the life of me, can't imagine that he's just made that number up. What would be the purpose ?
I think you're jaded by everything that's been going on McLovin, I can understand why, but I think on this one, he's probably telling the truth !!
I get a daily stand-by-stand breakdown of season-ticket sales by email. Here's tonight's breakdown.
I can understand people get confused by the different figures the club has given over the years, but to say that the club is falsifying figures because it doesn't fit in with gossip or expectations is bordering on paranoia.
These are paid tickets at the advertised price.
I haven't deleted figures for the staff, etc; they haven't been added into the number yet. When they are, together with sponsors and other hospitality, it will be closer to 9,000.
Disabled - Wheelchair 105

This news proper cheered me up today. Brilliant to know there are others like me keeping the faith. If we hit 10000 season ticket holders I'll be well chuffed.
Will renew if I don't get into Leeds Uni, strangely excited for next season. If I do got to Leeds get to go on alot of northern away days and a couple of home games, Carlisle on a cold tuesday night, can't wait, and if not then I can go to most games.
I went to the ground Wednesday and the lady (who was fit and would do wonders for ticket renewals if you had to renew from the box office) said the target was 10,000 and they were just shy of that
Restricted view tickets...52.
Well, not a bad idea actually, you'll no doubt be able to move around a bit this season and simply grab a better seat on the day.

They aren't actually paid for though are they? So wont affect the amount of money raised from ST sales?
I assume unless we have the take-over/management change the club isn't expecting this number to rise signifcantly from now until the start of the season?
These tickets must be hot property, anything that restricts the viewing of the recent shower of shit masquerading as a charlton team will have been a bonus, maybe these people just come for the atmosphere.....
[cite]Posted By: bingaddick[/cite]So McLovin, after you've seen Airman Brown's actual figures, do you still think the club is lying?
Well, i might not say lying, I think the paranoia aspect of what I posted has been built up.
I beleive that these figures (like most) contrain assumptions and trending and I believe that this is not a normal season.
Most times when I see these numbers there's a short confusing discussion (other to than in AB's post above) about trends and like for like comparison - which, if you were talking about a flat number of sales - you would not mention, because it's irrelevant. It's kind of the difference between someone saying "unemplyment has fallen" and "unemployment has fallen in real terms" with the latter meaning that actually unemployement probably hasn't fallen. Anyhoo, it might just be messy communication mixed with a late surge in ticket sales (AB's number for late May and the one I was given are similarish). That said, I really have no axe to grind, as a fan it's none of my business really and the more we've sold the better.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm having a problem here finding somewhere where you've said...."Sorry I appear to have got it wrong!"

LOL SoundAs, and to think it was McLovin who was accusing the club of "spin"
There is a lot of speculation/guesswork etc on here. It's the nature of a fans forum. I am always wary of accusing the club of making things up/spin because
a) I don't think, as a general rule, the club wants to get involved in that murky game because there is a great deal of cross over between club and fans and "pulling the wool over our eyes" would be quite difficult. I exclude things like takeovers etc where the confidential nature of such arrangements mean that the club will want to keep a lid on things until the ink is dry.
b) because many on here, especially the good Airman and one or two others actually do know whats going on in terms of tickets and numbers.

"What are the current paid for ST sales?"
"Is the figure of 7625 correct or a lie!"
If they say that it's a lie then ask
"what is the true figure?"
You say this was not a chance conversation so you will be able to do this.
I look forward to hearing from your contact.

On May 22nd, this figure stood at 3,479.
;-)
I've never trusted that Airman Brown. I'm not even convinced he's ever flown a plane.
Have you been watching the stuff on the pitch for the last couple of seasons?
That aside, these are really good numbers and very encouraging. As if it was ever in doubt, it's great to know that our fan base is so resolute.
Fair play to the Glorious 7625 (and rising).

Just ask Airman or someone else who works there:
"How many season-tickets we sold so far ?
Thank You".
Yeovil just over 2000
Carlisle 1100 compared to 636 this time last season
