  • Encouraging !
  • Lady at the ticket office told me yesterday that we had 13,000 season ticket holders last year and that we shouldn't be to far short of that this season. I hope she's right!
  • "Charlton had just over 15,000 season-ticket holders at the start of the 2008/09 campaign, a figure which included other tickets. But the latest 2009/10 figure available from the commercial centre solely comprises paid-for sales."

So 58% of paid for sales (ie you and me coughing up) = 7,625

Someone who works for a bank do the maths for me.

How many paid for ST did we have last season?

How many other tickets (Comps/Directors/Commercial/corporates etc)

Still looking like we could break 10K direct paid for and get close to 11,500 with add ons IMHO

Very encouraging considering all that is going on (or not :-) )
  • I haven't got mine yet
  • so last season we had 13,147 paid for sales. 58% have renewed = 7,625. Question is to whom did the other 1,853 season tickets go to last season ?

ha, i've just been tapping into my calculator working all that out as well !
  • not got mine yet - still undecided for non footballing reasons

as I said the ref has one ST, corporates, club staff and hangers on like Ketman (joke), sponsors, etc, etc. Not Supporters' Directors BTW.
  • I was always confident that our ST's would hold up (I cant due to work commitments and wedding savings, but will pick & choose when I can make it) I see this season as the fans and club coming closer together, closing ranks and forming a circle to get us out of this mess.

  • Not bad, from the vibe Id got from various fans didn't think it'd be that high

    what's a calculator ??
  • 7625 is pretty good considering the rubbish we endured last season and the general gloom amongst supporters. I have not renewed my STs yet because I have no incentive to do so now. Its not as if I won't have a choice of seat if someone else has bagged mine.
  • Thats very encouraging indeed, more than I thought it would be.....and I havent ordered my three yet either
  • 7500 season tickets, coupla thousand walk-ups, few hundred away fans........when the numbers are crunched, will probably translate to a 17,000 "average" then.
  • I must be the only one that thinks this is disappointing.

It will be depressing in a half empty stadium next year.

Hopefully some good news re: a takeover or new manager could add another 50% to that season ticket figure.

it's not fantastic but better than most were predicting the other day. Plus, it's over two months until the season starts, we are in credit crunch time and if you are not too bothered where you sit there was no real incentive to renew. Takeover and a new manager and they will pick up nicely.
  • Thats nearly Millwall's average attendance
  • Q. Have 58% of last season's ST holders renewed, or have we so far sold the amount of season tickets that equates to 58% of the total sold last season ?

I ask, because i know of people that have bought a ST that did not have one last season. I'm sure others do as well.

If so, it would bring the 58% renewal level down a little, and if wanted to twist differently, would mean almost 1 in 2 ST holders last season have NOT renewed.

There will be churn but that would have been the case every season.

But yes, you can "spin" it that way if you like : - )

  • It's also just not true.

There is no way on planet earth that 60% of people have renewed and that is all. I was speaking to someone from the club the other day and they were quite worried and said that it was around 3000.

Given that generally we more than double the number of tickets we have now, by time the season starts we should be absolutely pissing ourselves about a 60% renewal - because extrapolating from previous years

I expect a universal whine of disapproval from the likes of Henry. That's fine - if you seriously beleive this then I'd not make any more attempt to prove that it is one of the most obvious lies, since Tony (clutching a folder) told us he definitely had evidence of WMDs - AND HE'D SHOW US IT (LATER) anymore than I'd feel the need to prove to a six year old that Santa's not actually real.

AFKA's onto the "how to lie with statistics bit" but I guarantee that at the start of next season we will NOT have 60% of the 15k season ticket holders that we had last year. I'm not sure of the point of very obviously misleading people, but maybe some are happier that way - like the geezer in the matrix who wanted to take the pill.

No point trying to argue with you, McLovin.

Whatever I or anyone else says you have already made you're mind up and having been furious spinning what was said by the club to suit your own agenda.

Last season we had 13,147 paid for sales. We have sold 7,625 as of today so are at 58% of last season's paid for sales.
  • I think you are trying to look for something that's not there McLovin.

Firstly, the club would not put out a precise figure that was not true. They may spin and twist percentages etc, but not exact figures. Ihad heard earlier in the week the renewals were around the low 7,000s while they were working through the backlog, so the 7,6ish figure put out today is perfectly in line with that.

Secondly, we never double the amount of STs we have now by the time the season starts.

Thirdly, we did not have over 15,000 PAID season tickets last season, it was 13,000 and something.

    Let's see 60% of 15,000 is 9000

    We have sold 7,625

Last year there were 1,853 other tickets (corporates etc) according to Large's calculations

Lets assume that we'll only have 58% of that figure so that's down to 1074.

    1074 + 7625 = 8,699 so 301 short of your target of 9,000.

I think that it is possible that we will sell another 301 without any takeover or new manager appointment but we shall see.
  • Make that 298 as Im ordering 3 shortly
  • Don't spend all your money Tel......
    ;-)
  • [cite]Posted By: McLovin[/cite]It's also just not true.

Surely it would be highly illegal to announce false sales accounts? esp when we are owned by shareholders

Why would you just dismiss such a fact, I was very suprised at the figure and am now hopefull will hit around the 10k ST holders by the start of the season, couple of K walk up and mayb 1k away fans we'll have 13k or PAYING attendies then with the 3/4k of freebies of which only half will turn up we should hit around 15k at home games, come what may, if we're doing really well can see that creeping towards 17k, which is bloody good considering how shite the last 3/4 years have been and the current financial climate
  • [cite]Posted By: TelinOz[/cite]Make that 298 as Im ordering 3 shortly

297, as i'll be gettin one this yr, although not until prob a week before season starts, need to save some dollar
  • 7,000 + season ticket holders plus many sold on the day ------people want to remember that the last time we were at this level we had gates under 4,000. I was there.

If we get an adverage gate of 13,000 ---16,000 thats not bad at this level.
  • Hmm for someone who's not arguing you're doing a good job.

I guess I just don't believe the number, simply on the grounds that I asked someone who would certainly know - this week - what the renewals were like and they told me 3000. This isn't a bloke in the pub type thing, this was someone directly involved in this area. They have no reason to lie to me and I have no reason to lie to you.

But, as you say, not a lot of point in debating it, the truth will out one way or the other. As stated, I reckon we'll start the season a fair bit down on 9,000, which will make the idea that we've sold more than 7.5k now seem a bit unlikely. To be honest you guys are making out that I have some sinster agenda. It doesn't affect me one way or the other what the sales are or what the club says or what people believe. I just thought that it was fair to speculate, on an open forum, based on solid (if informal) information sources.

AFKA - on the doubling point - sorry, but we do - typically sales total season tickets at the start of june will be about half the number we start the season with. That's just basic trend information, not sure why on earth you think I'd make such a thing up. I'll take your word for the 15k 13k thing, I'm only going on the club's numbers last year. I'm mildly disturbed if we hand out several thousand freebies, but none of my business I guess.
