Will we have the best away support next season?

We should take more then that if we were towards the bottom?

Exeter and Yeovil should be good turnouts as new grounds to most plus the terracing is an added bonus!!

Ok - how many have we taken to QPR and Watford the last 2 seasons.
I dont know, so would be interested if that would tally with over 1200 to Brentford.

QPR was a very poor turnout, probably about 500 max. Reading was even worse, I reckon about 350. I think Watford was a bit better, but not much !

As I said previously, I go to as many away games as I can afford (they're bloody expensive!) and the only one where we turn out in any great numbers is Palace. So this season I only expect us to turn up at the Den and even then some may be put off by the horror stories of the past which have been relayed.
  • I honestly believe we will have better away support this season so how many did we take away total last year Championship only......now i am no stato but would guess 11,700 total if that the case i think we may better that by the 14th away game of the season......of course my logic would be scuppered if A) we top looking for promotion B) near bottom doom and gloom. or C) all the tasty away games near end of season.....but id put a shilling on the side the 15th game...
  • So many new grounds - I can't wait.

I believe away attendances next season will be up come what may i.e. our total away follwing next season will be greater than last season - mainly due to the proximity of so many grounds. I'm glad the club now publishes 'away' numbers now as it always makes interesting reading being a sad statto.

I think we may surprise a few people with numbers - particularly if we're doing well.

After buggering up the 'I'm not going to the Kingston stadium on a tuesday night as we're bound to play them next season' and making sure i didn't fall into the same trap at Doncaster last season (never in a million years did I think we were going to go down after winning there) - I will do 'new' grounds whenever the game is; and I know that there are quite a few who think similar to me.

The last time I managed more than 3 new grounds in a season was back in our first season in Div 1 under Sir Lenny. The new grounds for me will be:-

Brighton (done the Goldstone and a pre season friendly doesn't count unfortunately)
Walsall (did Fellows Park but our only appearance at Bescott was live on SKY)
Wycombe (Don't think we've ever played here)
Colchester (Shiny new stadium - whatever it's like, it has to be better than Layer Road)
Bristol Rovers (done Eastville and Twerton Park so only the second Club I've seen play on more than two grounds)
Hartlepool (You don't know how long I've been waiting for this fixture - overnighter amongst the monkey hangers!)
MK dons (I'll probably sell out and go to this one)
Yeovil (did old ground in a non league derby v Bath City, carnage post match!)
Huddersfield (did Leeds Road - carnage again post match some of you naughty boys on here! - but missed the "And Robinson" game a few years back

So that's NINE new grounds - I may have to blow out some of the other away games.

I reckon that there are about another couple of hundred people who are thinking along the same lines as me. As long as we leave Carlisle away as the last game of the season ;-)

i think we only took 1200 when we clinched the championship at blackburn.
    LOL!

Away support will be up next season. There are a load of local games that importantly to Charlton fans will be cheap! The Likes of Brentford, Leyton Orient, Southend (by boat?!) and Gillingham I could go to on a school night.

The standard of football is going to be poor, we're going to play absolute shite again, boo during the game and we'll be beaten by teams that I've never heard of. But it is still going to be one of the most enjoyable seasons as a fan.
  • Addickted:
8 out of your 9 I haven't done (went to the evening match at Huddersfield when one of our supporters ran on the pitch and slipped AoverT in the snow).
B.Rovers (done the other "old" grounds), but don't think I'll go to Milton franchaise.

QPR was just over 700 for Parky's first game in charge, Watford was about 1400, both of which are rubbish. Reading was 600. (figures taken from our matchday programme)We didn't even sell out at Palace. Apart from a small band of real die-hard week-in, week-out types who I've got nothing but respect for, everyone else's decision is ultimately dictated by how the team's performing. I went to 17 away games the first year in the Championship but only 6 last season. No matter how loyal you are, the majority of people find it hard to justify spending hard earned cash and losing a whole day of their weekend to go and watch an inevitable defeat.

If the team's performing well the numbers travelling will increase significantly and we will be selling out at plenty of grounds. If it goes wrong on the pitch then it'll be same as this season.
  • I hope we get Carlisle summer, autumn or spring. Then I can make a few days of it and have a cycling holiday round the lakes. Carlisle's one bizarre place but when you get out of town the countryside's breathtaking.

Same with Exeter really looking forward to that one too.
  • Mr Largo has it spot on (apart from the fact he can't quote properly)

You've just shamed me into reading the instructions thread!
  • The reason QPR didn't sell out was due to the ticket prices. A lot of QPR fans have stopped going themselves as their fed up of getting ripped off, everyone likes a good boycott. ;-)
  • Wycombe Away should be a sellout as I don't think we have ever played them at Adams park and its only 2000 to boot!

My own opinion is we start off well we will have a good following next season!
  • I think im neally spot on???

The web site I got the attendeces from was crap but im near enough!!
