  • [quote][cite]Posted By: StubleyAddick[/cite]Most of our mistakes this year were through his careless defending and neivety. Can't believe he came third in Player of the Year. I Hope he DOESN'T stay[/quote]

A little Harsh but I recall some diabolical lapses in both the basics and concentration.

[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]It looks like we're going to at least try and keep Fortune, so hard to say at the moment.

At that level he should look like a World Class player, its not so long ago he was holding his own against the likes of Shearer. I hope Fortune stays as I am sure with him fit we will have the best central defender in that League.

agree with that, i am a fan of JF and think he gets alot of unnecessary stick.
  • I agree I hope we keep him, he should be the best centre back in that league.

Needs to be alongside a more aggressive centre back to attack the ball, and he'll clean the other bits up.

If he can stay fit and gets a proper run in the team he'll prove himself.

He'll make the odd mistake, but there's a lot of other moments that he does nothing wrong that go unnoticed. Far more comfortable on the ball than a lot of other defenders we've had, compare that to players like Sodje who would have just smashed the ball clear when Fortune would have helped us keep possession.
  • Fortune can be the 'new' Bougherra ...... (!)

    ;o)
  • Or the new El Karkouri, remember him against Stockport in the Carling Cup in 2007, took the ball forward and blasted a shot probably just past the centre back. Wasn't far off target...
  • I think it's more of a case of who will actually take Hudson, and who can afford him in terms of wages rather than his 'desire to stay.' After all his reputation would have taken a hammering after a fine end of season with Palace two seasons ago.

As far as the criticism, I think it's a tad harsh. Maybe it's the anti-palace feeling towards him. Yes he had a bad year, but last time I checked, none of them had outstanding seasons. Yes as captain, his motivational skills will come into question, but with player turnover being sky high at Charlton, we really can't afford another season of constant player change and chopping and changing the core of the side. Plus he looked much better with Ward towards the end of the season. Signing, or even loaning Ward again could be key to Hudson staying.
