[quote][cite]Posted By: h[/cite]That's the way it is now - Ipswich are big boys and so are Watford and Hull and Stoke. This will take some getting used to..............[/quote]
Nah they are not sorry
That really is not how it is they are both bearly average sides
Leftbehind - Couldn't do a miserable smiley, but that was tongue in cheek. Truth is we are looking up at barely average sides and if that doesn't motivate us and the team this year then I don't know what will.
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]oh dear, oh dear. Parky's contacts within the game are practically zero then. Why bother? The idea of a home friendly is to entice fans in for a taster of what is to come. May as well play this one at New Eltham. Narwich manage to draw a Man Utd XI, we get Ipswich.
Just realised this kick's off just five minutes after I have a Chiropodist's appointment. Tough decision eh.
What's that got to do with it? Seems anything like this about the club is Parkinson's fault. No news on players, Parkinson's fault, no 'exciting' or 'exotic' friendlies, Parkinson's fault, no takeover news, Parkinson's fault.
Yes they were called Accra Hearts of Sporting Oak ---something like that.
My dad (RIP) gets home tells me we are playing HEARTS. We hot foot it to The Valley which is empty only realising when we get there its the Hearts from Ghana not Scotland !
Someone mentioned this game be4 on here and said it was 3 v 1 im sure it was 6 v 2 ?
If ever you need an example of how some fans are thoroughly pissed off and will now see everything negatively, this is it.
Home pre-season friendlies fit into 2 categories: potential money spinners or preparation for the season ahead. In the past 5 years, we have had neither.
This is an ideal preparation game for the season ahead. A team that is likely to be a top Championship club next season, ten times more worthwhile than any game against someone from the Spanish / Portugese / Italian league that play a completely different style of football to what we will come across every week.

Yeah last few years playing Bilbao and the like hasn't really helped us.
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]Fair Point AFKA but i'd expect a couple of friendlies of that calibre in that case not teams like Crawley and Bournemouth
Well we're not going to have pre-season games against clubs from our own division, so Bournemouth from one division below is ideal surely?
There still going to be at least a couple more friendlies, we usually play 6-8 each year.
Large Addick - So what if Norwich have a game against a Man utd XI. As soon as you see XI after it you know it'll be a mixture of reserve and academy players. Man Utd will be hot footing it around the USA and Asia making more money. Rooney and Ronaldo will not be at Carrow road!
So i think i'd rather play an Ipswich team who will give as an idea of where we're at.

Do pre season games ever give us an idea of where the team is at? Personally i think it would be better to have an XI, at least that way you can entice youngsters who think they will be seeing the proper first team and plastic fans of that club who will never see 'their team' live in any form whatsoever. Don't lower league teams use this as a money making scheme? Surely that is where we are now and I would rather us try and make a few quid from a prem club XI than Ipswich

At least we could concievably be un beaten in preseason - try and get some kind of winning mentality before the season starts
