  • Can see this one selling out.
  • Think I'll save my money...
  • Ipswich !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......yawn
  • There's a promising youngster who plays for them i'm keen to see...
  • Ahhh one of our few wins this season.
  • I wonder how long it will take for this thread to appear on an Ipswich forum?

A team we played last season is hardly going to put bums on seats. Perhaps they expect Ipswich to bring a load down?
  • Maybe they want to thank us for taking Norwich down?
  • At least Ooh Aah will be able to count the crowd. . . .
  • When Paul Ince is announced as our new manager and it's billed as Ince v Keane, then it will sell out.

Given the amount of ManU plastics there are around I reckon it might

Well in pre-season the bigger club goes to the smaller club so quite clearly us. Gone are the days when they used to be our feeder club!
  • plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tell me that isnt true. Ipswich ------ dear Lord. How sad is that if true.

Surely the purpose of a pre-season friendly is to get the team in right state of mind to do well in the league - it's not for the fans. Ipswich at home is the kind of game that is winnable and could give the players a lift before we face lesser teams like Hartlepool. I am not sure everyone has come to terms with the teams we will be playing next season. I'd rather we played well and beat Ipswich 2-0 than watch Bolton field 22 players in one night, 4 of which play for their youth team and still get beaten 3-0.

I suspect most of the big teams would not come to The Valley without some fees or guaranteed income and have better things to do with their time. Would people really turn out in droves to watch a lower team like Portsmouth, Bolton or Wigan? I doubt it.

We're getting what is right for our new status, I am afraid.

    What the man said.....
  • Could have been worse ........ Palarse!
  • Of course the primary reason is to get the squad match fit, but if it isnt about the fans then play it away or behind closed doors.

Surel we could have got one of the Scottish teams --- Dundee / St Mirren/ Killy etc etc. Would at least been intresting.
  • it is also the opportunity to get your fans interested in the forth coming season

    i am really excited
  • Given that it's a evening match and the thought of Ipswich doesn't really inspire me I think that I'll give this one a miss.

Dont get to excited, the Valley Gold boys will have all the tickets and the likes of me wont get a look in ;)

oh dear, oh dear. Parky's contacts within the game are practically zero then. Why bother? The idea of a home friendly is to entice fans in for a taster of what is to come. May as well play this one at New Eltham. Narwich manage to draw a Man Utd XI, we get Ipswich.

Just realised this kick's off just five minutes after I have a Chiropodist's appointment. Tough decision eh.
  • Never ever get excited about friendless simply because they are there to ensure the team is right to go on the opening day. If the club deemed the opposition appropriate to achieve that aim then fair enough.

Why the club have put out on all communications about the pre season schedule would include a home premiership game now looks rather silly.
