The Playing Staff get you dosh out

Just a suggestion to the playing staff (including all coaching staff). As you got us relegated and now 25 BACK ROOM / OPS Staff will loose their jobs how about puting ONE weeks wages into a pot for the 25 who will be out of work for no fault of their own ?

  • I couldnt agree more.

And to the player who turned up to training the day after being told about the redundancies and showed off his gleaming new Range Rover to all I hope I never see you in a Charlton shirt again.
  • shows just how unbalanced the world of football has become doesnt it

It may well be slanderous and although I am 99.9% sure of the facts it may be best left . Anyway I'm saving that and other juice for the book.
  • just the playing staff???
  • [cite]Posted By: seth plum[/cite]just the playing staff???

He also says including all coaching staff.

I agree with the sentiment, sadly I won't hold my breath for it happening.
  • Fat chance !

when's it out? going to be interesting!
  • Can't be worse than the ex Liverpool player who told training staff that his watch costs more than their houses.

  • or what about dividing up the birmingham parachute we suppose to get back.....or at least something from that....then again if its £100k keep live 5 on ........or is there no money due.....if not an extar warm up game for the lads and lasses being made redundant....
  • What really gets my goat is that we have to pay a waster like Martin Christiansen £5k a week for doing nothing until 2011unless we can sell him but quality people like Steve Sutherland and others have to be sacrificed.

How many of those jobs equate to one Christiansen?

    It is scandalous and disgusting.

    Rant over.
  • Why a warm up game ? so then we pay ? as we will be paying to go in !!!!

the people who got us relegated should give up some of their (not very hard fought for) dosh to the people loosing their jobs--------------simple idea for those with no idea of what is going on in the real world.
  • I would love to know some of the players wages.. I bet we'd all be in for a huge suprise.

The only wage I've heard about is Deon Burtons. He was due to sign for Chesterfield for 3k a week. Until we came in with a double wage+ offer. Crazy! Surely if we offered him 3k he would have accepted aswel! Really makes my blood boil!
  • Got to agree with all the sentiments on here so far. I know that they may not all be blessed educationally shall we say but just once it would be nice if today's professional players showed a little humanity and realised that their collective failure this year has had a real impact on ordinary, hardworking peoples lifes. Elsewhere, employees are taking pay cuts in order to stave off redundancies in their companies why not at CAFC too? A friend of mine has just taken a 22% pay cut for instance. At times like these it's really for the senior pro's at the the club to take a lead...but I doubt it'll happen.

Tom herd the same just said it on another thread, although i herd it was Chelmsford.

say 30 playing staff and coaching staff at £3,000 a week thats £90,000 in the kitty.
  • do we know if they have made contribution..........guess its like any place of work you get some who care and some who dont...you can prob guess who doas and dont..but i guess some and i assume a small some do care.....and i assume the rest dont even give a flying f*ck....i

No offence ...... but always dangerous to assume.
  • Cheltenham, to play for Martin Allen.

There are some terrifying contract stories.

Christensen was felt to be the best, when I first did the story, but there are some others which push it close.
  • yes agree was making the point that not all playing staff the same so sub ' it may be the case ' or in my humble opinion........for assume

Spot on GH. I had exactly the same thought over the weekend.

Heard that that was what we did and he did. Ditto Spring.

If you ASSUME you'll make an ASS out of U and ME.
  • Have any of our players got bentleys as i saw one being driven out of the training ground on saturday, young blonde bloke driving it but i didnt get a good enough look to identify him.
  • Christiansen ? ;0)
  • Do we know who else has been made redundant apart from Suthers?

    Not true.

We felt we had to offer more in order to get him ahead of Cheltenham.

I'll leave people to ponder how that made us look to the rest of football when it came to negotiating deals...
  • dear lord how friggin sad is that.
  • Unbelievable. Does Murray do all the negotiation on his own still?

Totally agree with the sentiment GH, but to be fair, they (mostly) made contributions (some were whiny and mean, others pitched in generously, they're like real people really). Nothing like you're suggesting, but it might have been nice of the club to highlight this in some way. Then again, some of the shit I've heard about the way things were handled was genuinely piss poor from an HR perspective. I'm more concerned at some of that than hoping the players are going to develop communist tendencies.
