Lisbie v Keane

  • Wouldn't surprise me, could happen.
  • Bradley Allen going up for a header was a work of comedy genius. He always used to jump so early that he would be back on the ground when the ball landed on the centre half's head. It was like watching scrappy doo trying to win a header...
  • Looks like Kevin don't wanna go back to Keano!!! Don't blame him

    Keane wants him

This is old news I'm afraid. Keane said months ago he wanted Lisbie back In January & Lisbie said he didn't want to return & play for Keane who had discarded him before he even saw him play.

However, Colchester won't have any money to buy him, so I can't see Lisbie staying.

This is why Colchester won't be top 2.
  • I thought Colchester were pretty well off now

Crowds of under 5,000, can't see them forking out a six figure sum, but correct me if you know more.

  • "Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd said: "I'm hoping to sign him [Lisbie] in January, get him on loan or whatever I can do to keep him, because he's a good player."

Lisbie's never 31, surely he's just an exciting young prospect?
And anyway, 10 goals in 21 games is not good enough, as we well know.

After Michael Turner and Kemi Izzet, could he yet be another one that slipped through the net.....?

Yeah and Parkinson is hoping we sign Drogba in January :-)

I just thought they were backed by some big(ger) players nowadays. Not sure if it's correct or not.
  • cork people are very strange, hard as nails and take no prisoners though.

  • re Colchester. Yes they are backed by someone with some money now and according to RM the other week have the 4th highest wage bill in League 1.
  • They must have some money because they're also hoping to sign Odejayi and John Joe O'Toole

That's not what I heard at the Richard Murray Q+A. Here is the extract from my notes on the topic:

Richard seems well-acquainted with the financial viability of our nearest League 1 rivals. Our wage bill is a bit lower than Leeds, with Huddersfield and Norwich just behind us. He believes that Huddersfield have a wealthy backer, but that Norwich are financially stretched and that they may be forced to sell some of their playing assets in January. Do not buy Delia Smith’s new book this Christmas (pause for laughter). Colchester seem to losing money heavily, but it is Leeds who will gamble this year on the basis that the ageing Ken Bates is growing tired of being in League 1.

    just all culchies though.
  • ok Dave, if you want to be pedantic, 5th highest.
  • How are Leeds' gambling if they're turning over one of the biggest profits outside of Man U? Considering they're operating on a profit and sold Fabian Delph it doesn't seem to be running on the bread line.
  • Oggy - does Kemi Izzet really count as 'slipping through the net'? He's hardly set the world alight

Hi Dabos, just a tongue-in-cheek comment to stretch credibility from the successfull multi-million pound player given away on a free transfer, compared to the successfull but relatively anonymous grafter who's established himself in League One.

Now being a little more serious - I wouldn't be dismissive of Kemi Izzet's achievements either.

He was released without being anywhere near the Charlton 1st team, and through sheer guts, determination and application nailed down a cornerstone place in a League One side, including 2 seasons in the Championship.

More highly rated youth team contempories of his sunk without trace.

  • Why should Lisbie go back to Ipswich? They signed him, stuck him on the bench and then loaned him out. At Colchester he's loved but perhaps also in a comfort zone.

and Kevin does love a comfort zone eh. . . .

Ipswich own his contract so surely they tell Lisbie if he's coming back, not the other way round.
  • Keane wanted all his players to live in and around Ipswich, Lisbie didn't want to move from London.

Don't remember that being said either, but I take your point. Just don't want too many 'facts' being attributed to Richard Murray when he didn't say them.

Sorry if that's pedantic. I guess I prefer 'accurate'.
  • Lisbie's loan with Colchester has been extended to the end of the season :-(
