Our biggest dilemmas - should Parky stay or go, can we fend off bids for key players, do we have any money esp if only 10k renew season tickets, can we stop the inexorable decline of the past three years?
Norwich - already claiming 17k season tickets, but otherwise tearing themselves apart, clearly no team spirit/ commitment from the players on Sunday - looked like we did under Uncle Les. Relegation a huge shock for them.
Southampton - will they even be around next season to face their ten points deduction?
Maybe it's true that there's always someone worse off than you...

Our location also makes us more attractive for a takeover.
What takeover Henners ? Sill the beaz ;0)
You know the one that was "close" according to the Sun with Peter Varney and Alan Curbishley or was it Bob Curbishley or maybe a consortium.
It was announced on the pitch before the Norwich game. Missed it myself as in the Lib club but was sure that people said it was going to be announced then. : - )
Oh yeah right......That one !
Hope not!
Charlton 13/2
Norwich 7/1
Southampton 16/1
Brentford 20/1
Wycombe 25/1
Exeter 33/1
yep i said the same as we were relegated from the prem
so as we drop down the leagues remember there will always be someone worse off ;-(
i saw that and they were 8 to 1 the other day surely no money for us already lol... wait for betfair it'll be better on there i can guarantee ;-)
and they are offering the superbly generous odds for us to get promoted 15/8 ......... wow
Feisty.....very feisty ;0)
Little but St Mary's has a bigger capacity and more space although it seems very short on boxes.
Nothing that £15 - 20m would solve at the Valley (other than the space)
And to misquote another famous Ben "no one was called me Oi! Henry for a very long time" : - )
I like the kit, they were always my favorite Subbuteo team (I could never get Charlton in Hubba Bubba Toyshop in Blackfen!)
Heavens, that's the last thing we want at the moment, isn't it, famous Ben? Our ground is going to look half empty as it is...
I would much, much prefer to be in Charlton’s position that that of Norwich or Southampton.
Norwich were utterly, utterly useless on Sunday. In a game they had to win; for which they had prepared for, perhaps weeks and in front of a huge, very, very noisy away following. Really, really terrible. I chatted to Delia on Sunday – she looked absolutely shell-shocked. And that was before the game. Norwich have a pretty small squad, yet, like Charlton, have boosted it with loan signings. But, while Charlton still had just three loanees on their books at the weekend, Norwich had five.
We’ve played Norwich four times this season. We lost narrowly away in the league; drew and won in the FA Cup; and thrashed them out of sight on Sunday. And they’re the highest-placed team we will face next season.
Southampton’s plight is, if anything, even worse. Their ageing squad has also been bolstered by loan signings. Which players can they expect to field offers for in the summer? Jason Euell, anyone? Chris Perry? Tony Pulis?*.
But worse than their on-field demise (if it’s possible) is their financial mess. Every team outside the Prem has to sell a player or two to balance the books. But Southampton had to sell Gareth Bale and Kenwynne Jones to avoid going into administration. Last season.
We’re quick to criticise out board for poor decisions, but take a look at this example of how Charlton’s board – for all its fauls – can’t compete in the incompetence stakes with Southampton’s. Ask yourself this: who is the more valuable player Theo Walcott, Marcus Bent or Izale McLeod? Well, Southampton agreed a fee of £12m when they sold Walcott. Then agreed a reduction to £9.1m. Then frittered it all away. All the Walcott money is gone, gone, gone. Bent? Charlton earned an extra fee on Sunday when Birmingham got promoted. McLeod? We even managed to squeeze out a few more quid from Millwall for reaching the play-offs. So whose board did better – Southampton’s for selling one of England’s finest strikers; or Charlton’s for allowing other clubs to sign two of England’s worst?
*Yes, Tony Pulis. Signed from Stoke City. Apparently even his father doesn’t rate him.
Charlton’s recent demise has been put down to changing managers too soon. And, in fact, we’ve already had five since the turn of the century. Norwich and Southampton? Eight. Each.
As for Charlton, we’ve got three quick decisions to make this Summer. Sell the club? Cash in on Shelvey? Sack Parky? And, as long as these decisions are made quickly, either way, we can move on with confidence. Find a new owner and we’ll have money to spend; keep the club in its present hands and we’re back into a period of stability. Sell Jonjo Shelvey and we get to keep some of the rest of our better players; keep him and we’ll have the best player in League One. And either sack Parky and move forward; or keep him and send out a clear, un-missable statement that the manager’s in charge and we’ll do it his way, with his team.
Norwich? Hopeless and far, far worse than us.
Southampton? Bust. And worse than pointless.
Charlton? Every chance of a trophy in twelve months’ time.
I, for one, can’t wait!
I've still got my subbuteo teams from the (ahem), late 60's , mainly chosen because as a kid I liked the designs:
I've also got Norwich City
And Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle, Bradford City, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall.
Not forgetting: Super-Charlton-Atherletic-Miilwall-are-atrocious ........ of course!
;o)
Brendan Rodgers was Reserve Team Manager at Chelsea.
We could make him manager. Might save us from relegation next season.
;o)
As for Southampton, they face a difficult couple of months with no income and wages to pay.
Norwich really surprised me to be honest - I was expecting them to come out all guns blazing but that never happened.
Depends who goes up in the playoffs but I'd say we will be in the top 3 favourites - maybe Leeds as outright faves if they don't go up this year!
