err, that was down to the orange mug, nothing orchestrated by Murray obviously.
  • Quite right. Jordan was loving it. He was being interviewed live from his sun bed in Spain and seemed like a dog with two dicks for hijacking the Dowie unveiling.
Unfortunately, Charlton were put in the position by crossing self publicist and onanist Jordan.
We became front page news rather than back page.
  • My take is that we are complete chite at the moment and Palace are revelling in it, and giving it as much as they can. I work near Croydon, and I get it large, and in spades on a daily basis. Even the nice Palace fans, being polite and matter of fact, are loving it big time, you can see it in their eyes, and in the twitching at the corners of their mouths. The thing is I don't blame them, we are complete and total chite and deserve it, and I am biding my time, because I know they'll get theirs probably sooner than later.
I also am proud to know several brilliant people who are also Palace fans, but they're still brilliant lovely people.
    HOWEVER
As the Crystal Palace fans dance with delight singing 'who the f**k is laughing now' they are also avoiding contemplating their own rather shabby navels. For example, Jordan has tried to flog the club off with no takers. Palace fans say 'yeah but he's loaded, flies in from Malaga for every game, and drives his merc (or something) from Gatwick for matches'. This is code for even though we're losing loads of money, Jordan will always put more in...oh really? Like a bottomless well.....we all know it's not true, the money thing catches up with you sooner or later, that is the elephant in the palace supporters clubs and bars and chatrooms. Even though we're chite, and in the chite, we still have parties interested in us...Palace have no-one.
Then there is Selhurst Park, a crumbling ground with no architectural merit, yes well served by trains, but geographically somewhere between the back of beyond and the middle of nowhere...and OWNED BY A TOTTENHAM FAN. There is really nowhere for Palace to re-locate beyond the hope that they can develop the athletics stadium in Crystal Palace Park. This is a location disputed by several councils, including the skinflint Bromley authority, that will never happen, not without a miracle (or maybe palace fans can create a political party to influence planning decisions, perhaps they might like to ask us for help).
As for matters on the field...well Warnock has done OK for them, and they can love Kuqui and the like, but actually not a million times better than even us at the moment (they didn't beat us twice this season), with no real prospect of improvement that I can see.
So, Palace fans can hire planes, smile and sing songs, despise us and enjoy our demise, but they are not exactly blue chip themselves. We may have to endure the unendurable, but the wheel will turn, and we will laugh long and loud again.

[quote][cite]Posted By: SoundAsa£[/cite][quote][cite]Posted By: McLovin[/cite]To be fair, Murray's behaviour lacked class and it's come back to haunt to him, Pilchard.[/quote]

Ever wondered why the vast majority of posters on here take not a blind bit of notice of your econoclastic rants?[/quote]

Does any one actually know what Tango man said to Mr Murray to warrant the outburst? I am sure it was prompted by some kind of neanderthal posturing by the orange one and not just out of the blue. Murray has acres of class, Jordan well... doesn't.
    I prefer Iconomongous
  • I may be wrong but the story goes Jordan didn't show up to a pre-game directors luncheon, strolled into the directors box as the game started with his entourage ignoring everyone, then at half-time didn't go into the directors lounge which is customary by all accounts then after the game, Murray went up to him and offered his sympathies genuinely, Jordan ignored him, Murray offered them again...no response, then Murray let out the now infamous "enjoy the championship tosser, at which point Jordan jumped up and took offence....Chinese whispers maybe but thats what I heard.
  • said it before and I'll say it again, this has to be one of my favourite football stories ever! It just get better!
  • [cite]Posted By: Marco[/cite]In my humble opinion, the minor ruck that Murray had with the Orange one indirectly lead to Charlton's demise.
History will judge that Dowie was a poor and hasty appointment.
I can't help feeling that Murray saw an opportunity to poke Jordan in the eye by taking on Dowie after he had left Croydon to head 'North'.
At least part of the decision must have been to stick one on Jordan.
If so, Murray, who until that time had been cast iron in his motives and results Charlton wise let himself down badly.
From the moment Dowie was paraded at the press conference we became a different club. Legal papers being presented live on Sky sports News???
Such show biz style shananigans are really not the Charlton way.
It was the start of a downwards spiral for me.

Charlton did not employ Dowie to spite Palace - that was made quite clear in the law suit between Jordan/Palce and Dowie. That is *fact*.

As for the legal papers being served at Dowie's press conference, that was a publicity stunt dreamt up by the orange one and his PR/legal team and had nothing to with Charlton. Unless you think that Richard Murray and Jordan dreamed this up together...

Our downfall stemmed from numerous other causes mainly involving player personnel, but that is a subject for another thread and in any case has been done to death.

Correct, but I would add that even though Jordan didn't turn up to the pre match meal against Palace (relegated at Valley), Jordan's Dad did and was welcomed and treated well as you would expect. Then Simon turns up with his bouncers after the meal had finished without a word of apology and ignored Murray and co after they had been entertaining his father.

This was of course the final one, of a series of incidents in which Richard Murray felt he had been treated poorly by Jordan who he considers to have no manners.

This is fact according to Richard Murray who has told his version on more than one occasion (me being there personally ).
  • As the posters have stated Richard has style , Jordan thinks you can buy it......
As Seth has stated, let's see where both clubs stand in a couple of years time, as the palace fans that I know delight in our misery, they are not exactly setting the world alight in that league are they.
currently 14th with a glorious 56 points , they have only scrapped past the relegation zone.

There squad is virtually up for sale!, and the club has a for sold sign around it, and how long before Jordan and Warnock fall out is despite there stated friendship hardly a stable one is it.
I guess it is our turn to take it from the palace, but I reckon they could be in the bottom three next season...... we can only hope!

Thanks Nug, I am more than happy to accept that as the course of events back in May 2005. Richard Murray had to have provocation and his response is actually raher measured considering what Jordan is worth.
    Agree with Ken also.
