[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Someone floated the idea of buying the Valley Pitch and RM said it was the most inspired idea he'd ever heard. Well, actually he said he liked the idea and would consider it : - )
Good, I think most of us agree that it is not a bad idea at all and could raise some much-needed funds
Thought we'd offer Fortune a contract, good to hear. Shame about Ward but not surprised really, he's good enough for the Championship (so is Fortune but I guess he might take a wage cut and is probably happy to stay here).
Will be interesting to find out what happens to the Ivory Coast players. Surely they'd be very useful in League One, Championship would have been harder for them to adapt to.
I hope we do only have to sell "1 or 2" players. Do worry it'll be more like 4/5/6 though.
Thanks Henry (& others) for the report. I come away with the feeling yet again that RM is a top, top, bloke. I'd remind people again the old biblical adage "he who is without sin let him cast the first stone". Mistakes were made, we are where we are, with collective resolve, we can get out of this, with or without a sackful of cash from new investors although that will help.
I am pleased that the "pitch buying" suggestion was met with approval. Perhaps RM needs to read the threads on CL a bit more often!
What other club that has been through what we have the last few years could have a meeting like that and it all be conducted in that kind of manner, whatever division we are in we are lucky to be Charlton

I think we sometimes over look just how much info we do get and how much contact via these sorts of meetings, Q & As, Target 40K, the fans' forum etc, etc.
It's not perfect and it could be improved but compared to other clubs we get a hell of a lot of direct contact with the key decision makers
Thanks for the insight to the meeting, really useful and has reconfirmed my opinion of Mr Murray as a genuinly nice bloke who has the clubs interests at heart but made a couple of bad management decisions.
Only selling 1 or 2 players is great news, we can now sell Sinclair and Christensen and move on with all our stars
Sinclair is a strange one, he could easily end up playing quite a bit next season, or being let go for a small fee. He's injured isn't he?
Makes me think Spring was even more of a strange signing, always forget about Sinclair, but surely he's capable of everything Spring is, and if anything, would score more often than Spring?

Didn't catch that.
Idea was to sell off bits of the pitch to fans for a few hundred or thousand each so you could own a square foot of the valley.
Idea was that club could raise a few million perhaps, fans would have a bit of the "sacred soil" and would be protected from development.
Maybe an issue with the banks.
Really good idea.
I'll put you down for £5k worth then ; - )
I'll follow it up with the club and see if it is a goer

Funny enough they were the two players Murray said we would be selling
Oh, I've just checked my notes, No it wasn't. : - (
