"I've still got two years left on my contract and I haven't spoken to anyone so we'll see what happens. It's not up to me.
"Everyone wants me to stay and I'll keep going out and putting in the same kind of performances every week. I'm part of this team that's at the bottom of the league so if I have to be here next year and help get the team back up, that's what I'll do."
The first line would suggest that if the board/manager wants him to stay then he will (i.e. not accept any offer). I have my doubts though and would be interested to hear what he said while at his previous 2 clubs!
If he is sincere and wants to stay then it will only be a plus point.

We shall see. What's said or not said in the papers is meaningless. It's what he says to his agent that counts.
"if I have to be here next year and help get the team back up, that's what I'll do."
If i have to be here? dont sound keen to me.
I believe he said something fairly similar.
The OS is crap and always has been. How many times have a told you that?
Talentless bunch of lazy sods sitting in their luxury offices at Sparrows Lane pedalling fast food versions of the news to stuff down the fans' throats. I hope you all choke.
Full of lies and spin and never give us the real stories.
Left Southend and Barnet for better things so will probably do the same to us.
Bailey admits he is attracted by the prospect of playing at a higher level, after scouts from Premier League and the Championship flocked to check on his performances. "When I was younger I was at Fulham and got a little taste before I was released, but that has made me hungry," he said. "To play at the highest level is a huge incentive for me, I am still quite young and think I can do that. Rejecting the contract was about ambition, not about money or anything like that and I have never asked to leave the club."
So considering we're going to be back in the league he left Southend in to join us, i don't see why anyone would expect him to be staying should an offer come in for him. Top scorer, likely to be POTY, he'll be gone.
Sounds just like Peter Shirtliff's infamous '' 'appen I have to play for Charlton now'' during the '87 play-offs.
Probably wasn't meant to sound nearly as bad as it reads on paper and frankly the OS could/should have edited/spun his words a little better than that. But all the redundancies probably mean most of the communications dept won't ''have to be here next year'' either , so may be we shouldn't blame them.
Totally agree with that.
Would be gutted if he left but certainly wouldn't blame him for it.
I think I'd probably settle for that
It's not where he planned to be, is it?
He joined Charlton for one main reason ..... Pardew spun him the " ..... we're aiming for the play offs at the very least, and you can expect to be playing with us in the Premier next year."
Don't worry, If selling Bailey meant getting Kaka there would still be someone who will complain : - )
True but the "here's how much you'll be earning with us" bit of the chat might have helped as well.
Not exactly Mr Loyalty at his previous clubs but let's wait and see who, if anyone, comes in for him.
He's gone.
If we are lucky given our desperate financial status we will get back what we paid for him maybe even a couple of hundred thousand more.
He missed his penalty, Len.
If he'd tucked it away, then he would have been our regular penalty taker.
And scored far more than his paltry 11 .....
;o)
;-)
Can't see him sticking about tbh, would be a shame to see him go but as others have said, if we then could keep Jonjo & Racon I would be happy enough...I would then go and get Kevin Nicholls who must be on a freebee and would be a more than able holding midfielder at League1 level for us.
It's academic as to what he wants to, and understanable if he wants to go somewhere where they'll be challenging in the champ. He has his positional and tactical weaknesses, but I like most supporters would like to see him stay. The fact that there are so few committed players full blooded players at the club mean he's crucial to us.
And other clubs will see him as the ideal man to put a bit of never say die spirit into their own team of softie nancy boys, who'd rather be focusing on clubbing and fast cars.
That's it in a nutshell.
In a poor season he's been one of our few bright spots and if a CCC club offer him and the club the right deal he'll be off.
Yep.
He's not come out and said he'll stay. He's not said he won't stay, so I'd hope he won't put in a transfer request once we're relegated, but he's not said he won't leave if he gets a good offer.
And sure, he's ambitious - why not?
But it's his agent who's going to do the agitating and chase the dollar.
And if good offers come in, Bailey will find it difficult to say no.
But first and foremost, he strikes me as a player who won't be content festering in somebody's reserve team.
He'd rather play - even with us.
If he has to.
