The 'going down today and honestly don't really give a sh*t now' club ?

edited April 2009 in General Charlton
Any other members other than me ?

Fate was sealed a long time ago and all that is left is the formalities, likely to happen today.

Final whistle and Jeff Stelling saying Charlton are relegated is not going to prompt and tears in my house, i'm genuinely looking forward to a nice break this summer, than anticipation for hopefully a good season next year.

Chins held high my friends !

  • Spot on D. I'm looking forward to Division 1 already!!

Can we get some badges for our new club?
  • Not going to be in tears. As you say it's been coming for a while.

Don't give a Sh*t? No, not at all. Still care and still won't be happy.

as for badges I've got mine already
  • I'm gone past being upset I'm pretty angry to be honest we are in the mess we are and how quick it happened.

Like you say though I am looking forward to next season and hope we can pick up a couple of decent players early doors (Mark Yeates & Ward would be useful)
  • Going down, but do give a sh*t for me.......too little too late, but we have our pride to play for....so yes I give a sh*t
  • I definately give a shit. It will of course come as no surprise and I am not going to cry about it but I still give a shit...oh and it definately won't be today. Coventry are a bag of shit and we will turn them over easily.
  • Not being funny but everyone was saying how fun it would be a season down in the Championship before we came back up. I honestly think if the finances are as bad as they are looking and a youth team is played we really could be fighting relegation next year as well.

I don't think you are far wrong there mate. Will be a tough season but we must be due some luck if nothing else
  • Sure I still care - as a Charlton supporter I feel deeply over a massve dent in our pride and self-esteem, even though I have thought we were going down since well before Xmas when others were trying to deny we even in a relegaton struggle.

As for badges, I can do better than that. As a compulsive hoarder, I have every piece of merchandise imaginable with 'CHARLTON ATHLETIC DIV ONE' emblazoned on it, from our first season back in the pre-Prem top flight in 86. We've got mirrors, scarves, badges, towels, even my kids' duvet sets and matching pillow cases!

Going up into the attic to find them all tomorrow...
  • i think a few of you missed the 'now' after the give a sh*t bit.

I meant its gone, a lost cause, and one the majority of us have known for a while. That's why there will be no anger this afternoon.
  • I've realise we're going down since January. As for next season, League one is utter shite and it's not going to be this romantic real football that some of us believe. We're going to be there for a while as well.

With this in mind I'll be renewing as soon as the form comes through the door!

  • Wasn't too bothered untill i watched ESPN the other night and watched us Tonk Chelsea a few seasons back with the likes of Di canio and Parker in the side.

    It's un-bloody-believable what's happened to us.
A F**k up of the highest order if you ask me.

    Like your style!
  • In some ways I would like it to end today, away from home, and not at the Valley on Saturday like our fall from the Prem. Will I be shedding a tear? Possibly. Even though a few of us on E-block saw this coming (we actually asked ourselves the question "will we all renew if the worst happens"- at the Ipswich home game in October!) it will still hurt when it happens.

I'm still going to renew mine, and thw fie and kids tickets, but the reality of actually being relegated.... I can't see anything else ahead thanit hurting.
  • It's expected, coming for a while now, but I'd still like us to finish the season well, so I can't say I won't care.
  • Let it happen at Cov today, out of sight and sparing us another miserable Valley afternoon. Time to get out and about today and forget about it. Bring on the Bees and the Os next season. And a swear box for anyone who calls it "division one".
  • i was more pissed off several weeks ago than i am today one thing is for sure that today will hurt like feck
  • Forget about the season ..... I just want the team to go out and get the result.

For the sake of club morale (and mine, lol) - we need to get everybody buoyant and lifted.
  • Been preparing myself for today (or Sat) for a long, long while now - certainly since before Christmas so no tears in my household BUT I am angry that we've ended up going down when there was absolutely no reason for us to do so. Our squad, on paper, was more than capable of at least competing in this division but because of p### poor management and organisation compounded by the farce that was the decision to appoint Parky when we still had plenty of time to get ourselves out of it we find ourselves where we are today.

Shameful, shocking, shoddy and other words begining with 'sh'...
  • Lets get it over with today and then we can start rebuilding as we will have a couple of weeks head start on the others for next season. Away will be better then we can get behind the boys on Sat without having to worry or be nervous every time someonemakes a mistake.
  • Yes, we are resigned to our fate but, when it actually happens, I know in the pit of my stomach I'll feel sick. To misquote a cliche - unless you feel the lows, you won't appreciate the highs.

Nonetheless, looking forward to next season & hopefully a bit of success.

That was my mantra at the time - when we still had plenty of time to get ourselves out of it

And we did - despite many giving up back then.
  • Southend have choked, Orient are gonna stay up, there is a pub on every corner of Griffin Park...

As a fan I am looking forward to next season, but from a business point of view its a flipping disaster.

Why do we always seem to time our relaegations with new TV deals?

Lets hope you are not right. On the positive side Parky has said he doesn`t think that too many players will want to leave and that Charlton of course hope to add.

As for thread. Will still hurt when its confirmed for me.
  • Still angry, and will be upset when confirmed.

Watching that 'great games' compilation on youtube the other night actually brought a tear to my eye. Look at the passion (players and fans), and team spirit, and look at the last 5 years...
  • We are down all bar the mathematics, if it doesn't happen today it'll be next week.

But...the promotion campaign begins from here.
  • Dunno Dan I'll be feeling pretty sick this afternoon if and when it happens. Prob best not at the valley when it goes official...
Can't quite get my head round the enormity of our failure this season but it's happening and all we can do is hope next season leads to a reversal in our fortunes for the better.
And in the meantime sink a few to numb the pain.
    Onwards and upwards...
  • Thankfully being here in Perth WA, I wont have to put up with all the cheap snipes from certain smug twats!
But it will still feel as bad 10,000 miles away!

Just remember that WE WILL BE BACK! and I will be for the first few games in league 1.

Good luck everyone today, especially those at the Ricoh, and the boys.

    CAFC FOREVER!
  • When they cheerily announced Parky was getting the job permanently, despite delivering a truck load of fail, I knew we were down and out. Unlike some of the glass half full brigade, I've had a long time to adjust to this.

I actually think that a less pliable and accepting fan-base might have been able to influence the board to change the disastrous course, it plotted.

Maybe a few angry fans would actually be good for the club. The best we ever seem to manage is a bit of pointless and inappropriate boo-ing of our own players.
  • Although I had resigned myself to our fate all the time there is a mathematical chance you have that hope that a miracle may occur.

I think its going to hurt more than I thought it would.
  • Known we were going down for months. So we've all prepared for it.

Sooner it's done the sooner we can look forward to the future and forget this terrible season.
