  • bloody Maik Taylor is all I can say
  • Thought we played well. Long time since I enjoyed a 0-0 draw!
If we had a finisher, we'd have walked it.

Don't totally blame Kandol, I think he was asked to play on his own which he's not good at.

Keep it up like this and we'll do well next season...
  • What a great performance - well except the finishing, how the hell they are in the top 3 I will never know

Great atmosphere other than for about 5 min in first half, thought whole team played well, and jonjo was a different level
  • Have to say I thought that Birmingham were poor, for a so called top team in this league I expected a lot more. Why was Racon subbed, I thought our midfield with Shelvey pushing on looked far better than what they produced.

Our sub bench looked very average, and played like it when they did come on and offered little. Kandol no thanks .

When Phillips came on I feared for us, but besides 1 strike he did very little. Thought in the end we had the better of the chances, which we did not take.

Both sides gave away cheap, sloppy passes in the first half especially.
Too little , too late I am afraid
  • Not much one can say, but I actually enjoyed the game, and the fact that Taylor was clapped and clapped the North stand after ...
  • thought Butterfeet had a very good game, ditto Ward (really hope he signs).
Racon wasn't as good as usual, Sam our most exciting player second half.
    Kandol is bloody frustrating.
It's annoying how top half teams like Preston and Birmingham come here and look very ordinary, how did we get in this mess?!
If we could somehow keep that team together (aside from a new striker) i think we'll have a good chance of coming straight back up.
  • Cracking second half. End to end stuff, both keepers make good saves.

Looks like the mercy killing could be Monday now with defeat at Coventry. Hey Ho, lets put it behind us and move on.
  • Am definitely concerned about our attack. We don`t have a single striker at the club who can lead a promotion push next season imho. Please lets keep the core of this side for next season. We deserved the points today. Jonjo was magnificent today I thought.
  • In our last 18 league games one of our so called strikers(lol) has scored in one of those 18 games that is beyond pathetic

Ah, but he did score twice in that game .....

    ;o)

  • I thought it was a great game and one we should have easily won. A few wrong choices around the box may have cost us and thought the ref was very wrong on the penalty shout. Baisedly Thought Jonjon was superb butterfield done well bailey too. Elliot pulled off some top class saves near the end and the defence played as well as i've seen them all year. Never thought at any point we would lose this game and with a bit more luck we would have won. I must also say thats the best atmosphere i've seen there all year. The crowd were excellent.
  • Very good performance and unlucky not to get the 3 points.

With exception of Kandol good performances all round.
  • I thought the game was awful! Sorry but I thought aside from the last half hour the football played was truly turgid.

Jonjo Shelvey was involved in our best stuff, Kandol's positional sense was laughable. We were the better side and Taylor kept them in it, referee was abysmal too if we had lost I would be furious but as we only delayed our execution a little longer it's ok. That was tongue in cheek by the way.

Unbiasedly Jonjo was my man of the match for his work both on and off the ball.

If they (Birmingham) are the second best team in this division it just shows what might (should) have been.

Very frustrating that we are where we are when you see PNE and Birmingham. Parkinson say the ward goal should have been awarded, I thought off side straight away. nice to see Butterfield have a good game, bit of a poke in the eye for the anti Butterfield group on Facebook.

It shows we really aren't that bad, a goalscorer or two is one of the main differences between us and a lot of teams in this league. Can't blame Parkinson for that, very hard to find a striker in January when you're in the Championship relegation zone with no money.
  • Brum were tired in the 2nd half after their big game on Monday but that doesn't hide the fact that we bossed them.

Midfield of Jonjo, ZZ and Bailey were awesome.

As others have said, i f only we had a striker.

And I don't buy this nonsense that a striker is not expected to score in a 4-5-1 syste0.

    5s that what they say t6 Dr6gba and T6rres/
  • Gutted today, really am.

If only we had a striker.

Well it's more about us not being set up for him to score. When we had Darren Bent it was about playing through balls for him and getting crosses in. He should be scoring every so often, but we're set up so that all five midfielders get chances to score.
  • Well Jerome,Phillips,Bent and McFadden didnt score either.

And I was fairly certain that one of them would.

We will need to find somebody either with confidence in front of goal or just that knack of being in the right place at the right time. Dont think Gray,Dickson,Mcleod,Fleetwood,Burton or Kandol are it for me.

Back to the drawing board again.

  • Back 4 were great will done to youga and butterfield huddy and ward class as always. Jonjo is a pleasure to watch. Zz and racon were good sam was super 2nd half and bailey was tremendous, I pray we keep these guys for next year, did anyone else notice the players reaction at the end spent ages clapping the fans
  • Yeah saying tatty byes some of them I think
  • Good performance. Unlucky not to get all three points. Jonjo was by far the best player on the pitch. Kandol continues to be worse than average but Dickson and Burton are just as useless in front of goal.

I hope we will sign Darren Ward next season as he has been excellent since coming to the club.

The players gave 100% today and that's all you can ask for.
  • Very good game, agree about Ward, he was top drop
  • My thoughts:

    1. 2nd half was the best i've seen us play for quite some time.
    2. If we'd had Racon, ZZ and Shelvey in the team all season we would not be in the bottom three
    3. Kandol is very frustrating
    4. Birminghams away support for a team chasing promotion and the title was terrible. Thought they'd easily sell out.
    5. Bowyer is still a whingeing little sh*t.
  • Decent performance and just about deserved to win it i reckon. If only we had taken Dexter Blackstock on loan instead of Kandol I reckon we would be out of this mess now!

If we could keep the majority of those in the team next season we would be fine, but I have my doubts that we will be able to...
  • [cite]Posted By: superclive[/cite]Zz and racon were good sam was super 2nd half and bailey was tremendous

Sam still does well until the final pass, cross or shot. Really want him to have a good season next year, start setting up and scoring goals more regularly. He should be able to do that in League One if we rebuild the squad well.

    Agreed x 5!!

Back to the VIP 2 thread, we really need do all we can to help the club keep this team going. Maybe one or two will go but assuming Jonjo and Racon stay, I'd like us to keep Ward, ZZ, Bailey, and dare I say it Butterfield who had an excellent game today.. With that team, even with a bit of a question mark over the strikers, we'd walk the First Division, indeed if this team had been available all season, we'd be challenging for promotion. What I liked most, and this was similar against Southampton was the ability to move the ball from defence to attack quickly. OK attacks broke down but defensive challenges found Charlton players who looked to immediately move the ball forward. A few months ago this had completely stopped happening.

Huge if though, will be surprised if they're all here.

We've got to keep as many as we can, and find the right replacements (not necessarily quite as good) for the ones that do leave.
