I wasn't going to because weeknight matches are now virtually impossible since I changed jobs, so I was going to buy on a match by match basis. However, the ridiculously high prices for doing that will probably ensure I renew.
The incentive for renewing early will be to see a better squad of players. If we leave it to the last minute fewer of the players we would like to see will still be here.
it's already looking as if the Club have made a major ricket here. No early renewal incentive, at a time when they admit times are hard, means a large number of fans will leave it late to renew. Ok, a lot will renew early to guarantee seats with friends and family but even that won't be a major problem next season. I would have thought they would need us to renew asap so that if there is a chance to keep Bailey, Shelvey etc they'd need to know their income. If come the middle of July only say 5,000 have renewed they would then be a big chance that they would have to balance the books elsewhere, player sales. That is no good if then 12,000 renew towardss the end of July. This decision could really backfire. I'd urge as many of you as possible to renew as soon as possible if you want to see a half decent team challanging for promotion next season. If not, mid table could be all we can aspire to.
Mmmm... here's an idea. What about a campaign under the slogan ''renew by May 1st because after that date we cannot guarantee there will be any staff left to process your application'' ?

That there's the reason I've not renewed. I always said that There was no level of performance that would stop me, but the way the last wave of redundancies was handled has done it for me. I'll pick and choose the games I go to, on my own terms. A business can choose to treat people like shit by all means, but can't rely on blind loyalty if they do.
After today I will renew as soon as the forms arrive at home.
Listening to a few people who have had season tickets for 40 years or more has made me think that the views expressed on this forum are not representative of the wider charlton fanbase.
There is quite a lot of snarling and viciousness on here which I dont find in the fans I meet and talk too.
Just because it is easy to express a view on here and do it repeatedly doesnt mean it carries any more importance than the fan sitting next to you who has never looked at a keyboard.

I love the way everyone sees different things.
To a bulk of people on another forum, this forum is seen to be filled to the brim with false positivity and club apologists. To another group it is seen as being filled with left-wing agendas.
When you say 'quite a lot of snarling and viciousness', how many roughly are you referring to ? 2 ? 10 ? 20 ?
I see a complete wide spectrum. I see those that will always look on the positive, i see others that who will always see doom. I see some that can't wait to praise the club and board at every chance they can, i see others that will always believe there is an agenda. I see some that have been around donkeys years and have fallen out of love with it, but still are with it through habit, i see others who are fresh in their support and are looking forward to the rebuild.
I see all bases covered. I can't though do anything if people only focus on some and not see the others.
Well said, AFKA. That's the diversity of opinion, attitude, temprement and experience that I see , too, and which makes CL easily the most vibrant, thoughtful, challenging and interesting Charlton site anywhere on the net...

Perhaps the fault is with me. My mood on renewing early had been swayed by some comments made on here and I was of a mind to wait until it suited my personal finances. Talking to an old boy yesterday who has been a season ticket holder for very many years made me embarrased that I had adopted that attitude and it convinced me that I should do the right thing and sign up as soon as the forms arrive.

Thats not the point. My point is that this electronic form of debate does not necessarily replicate the feelings of the majority of fans in the same proportions. Because 40 of us can be arguing about and issue with 20 on one side and 20 on the other wont mean that the fans are split 50/50. Of course it depends on what the subject is.
This format can polarize opinions whereas a large proportion of the 20000 or so who attend couldnt really care less or dont hold such strong opinions.
The generalising works both ways though. After the game, i met two other fans in the pub, neither connected to the net. one was a ST holder that couldn't be bothered to go, another also didn't go and blamed Richard Murray for everything that has gone wrong over the past 4 years.

Supporting your club, maybe?
Still, hark at me - I haven't either (but do feel a bit guilty about it)
Has anyone received one??
Save the moeyn for northern away games.
i will renew mate, but in the current climate i will be holding on to my money a bit longer this year.
Sorry, but I think that's a bit optimistic mate!

I agree entirely Large
Maybe I've forgotten but not the last couple of years at least. Anyone know for certain?
