For me I would like us to sign an old experienced player like Steve Howard who has seen it and done it at div one level. He has been great for Leicester this season and would work well alongside someone who is quick and can score goals. Not sure if Dicko or Izale would be capable of scoring 15-20 goals in league one. Dicko had a good spell at Gillingham last season scoring something like 11 goals in a short spell and Izale bagged alot goals for MK Dons in the league below so the potential is there for them to do that. Like others have said Parky has to make getting in a proven goal scorer at league one level a huge priority in the summer.
[cite]Posted By: Mortimerician[/cite]Howard's a great shout at that level. Might help some of the others with his know how too.
He'll be looking for a big striker in the Iwelumo or Howard mould. That sort of striker will get the best out of Dickson, Fleetwood or McLeod as well. We saw in the Plymouth game Dickson played well when he had flick ons to run onto, someone to hold up the ball etc.
We need to sign Iwelumo on loan for half a season. Scored loads for us in 1st half of the season, then hardly any, seems to have done the same thing at Wolves. With our luck we'll probably sign him in January...
In this league you should be getting plenty of chances and you only need to put a couple away to get a decent record. Higher up the leagues against better defenders I think he would stuggle.
Forget signing Jackson - after the Chris Dickson transfer episode I would think that you are the last club that Scally would sell him to. (Also, my understanding is that Dickson was wanted so that we would then be in a position to sell Jackson if the right offer came along).
I've seen nearly every game that Jackson has played for us and doesn't do a lot for 90 mins and his sometimes his touch lets him down but .........he does get goals. You can't agrue with his record and it seems the bigger the game the more likely he is to score. He is still raw talent in my view but has the potential to be really good. (Has scored at international level with Canada having been moved up from a youth player to full team after recent play off exploits). Difficult to see what level he could play at but he needs to learn his trade more to nmove up much higher in my view.
I have to comment that some of the crap spouted on here in last few days by some posters seem so ill informed and one sided (e.g. Nolly) that it beggars belief. There is a bit too much hubris out there amongst some CAAF fans as far as I can see. (No doubt these are the johnny come latelys who started suporting during the Premiership years). From what I saw on Saturday you have a decent side that will push for promotion but but not a team that is so good that it should be thashing everyone as some of your fans seem to expect. Instant returns are not always easy - ask Leeds.
Also, our pitch is one of the bigger ones in the leage and has a decent surface that has regularly won plaudits (and awards in the past). It was only a 'pudding' for the simple reason that it rained for several hours no stop before the match and I think that Parkinson's comments about the pitch were an excuse for getting his tactics wrong against us and only getting a point . Comments about us being a kick and run team and physical are way off the mark. We look to play on the deck and if anything over play at times. We have a team of midgets so kick and run isn't an option really.
Taking a point from us at home is a decent away result - it will be one of the tougher grounds that you go to this year. In the other 'Kent' derby Millwall were ran ragged for 90 mins and could have gone home with a much bigger beating than the 2-0 they got and they have a good side that will be up there again this year.
You should be enjoying yourselves at the top of the table but instead you have a thicko brigade moaning all the time and belittling the opposition you are playing. I guess a few of the 'new' fans don't realise that it wasn't that long ago you had no home ground and were lucky to get 6000 watching you in the old Div 2. Luton Town and Oxford United have had similar histories to Charlton (i.e. were top level league teams a few years ago) and look where they are now - you aint Man Utd so stop acting like it.

A bit like some of your comments on recent threads you mean?

Feel free to point out where we've said we should be thrashing everyone. We were awful on saturday, far worse than we have been most games this season and if we had played anywhere where we have done we would have beat you. Your lot played ok but there was nothing that stood out that you were a team as good as us at the moment.

Other Charlton fans have already pointed out your pitch is bigger than ours, but even you must admit that it doesn't look bigger so can be seen why some would assume it was smaller.
Plus the grass definately looked long. Maybe rain in Kent has quick growth fertilizer in it?
And us for fans moaning i agree some go to far, but does that mean when your not playing well and you aren't happy with things you don't moan and want things changed as things used to be worse for you. I doubt it so as well as being wrong on most things your also a hypocrite. Well done.
Don't expect any return comments from you as you funnily enough you ignored the previous answers to your mistaken comments.
Yes of course I moan if things don't go well but my point was that you're second in the division yet there seems to be alot of slagging off your own players considering your position. Regarding Gills and other Div 1 teams, on the various post match threads you can see numerous comments from certain people who seem to think that an away draw is not a good result in this division and plenty of comments about how this is a crap divisioon full of crap teams. You are in this crap division because you deserve to be in it based on your last season's performance. If you get promoted this year then fair play to you but it may not be as easy as some of the fans on here seem to think. You yourself have made the classic hubris/superiority point 'we didn't play well'. Is it some coincidence you didn't play well at a ground where the home team has a strong record? Is it just a coincidence that the team that has a good record domiates teh game and plays well? Are you in the top two only because everyone who plays against you doesn't play well? No - your in the top two because your a strong team in this division that will challenge for promotion and that's why you have got the results you have. We have a good record at home because we play well at home and that's why a point is a decent result for you.

[cite]Posted By: mart77[/cite]Rumour going round that he will sign for Millwall tomorrow in a cash plus player deal, which i find very hard to believe.
Would be a great signing for them but having taken Batt on loan from Peterborough only this week and having Steve Morison and Neil Harris as well suggests otherwise as you say...
14 goals in 42 league games this season. Similar to Deons record, but Deon brings more to the side.
I guess Jackson may thrive in a better team than Gills and if we do not keep Forster, Burton and Jackson could form a decent partnership. Unsure how much he would cost and if we could afford him
If he costs money he wont be coming here, even if we go up we wont be spending fee's on ppl, loads more yrs of frees and loans yet (unless we un earth and jem and get serious dollar for them)!!
Gills fan I know said he's not bad but they'd want about £500,000 minimum for him and why would anyone spend that when they could get a foreign player of the same ability for half that

If he were in my team I wouldn't care if he did f**k all for 89 mins if he does that all season.
