Must be a lot of Championship clubs having a good look at Bailey. If we have any credability left we have to hold on to him for next season. Yeah make him captain.
Mind you Andrew Crofts scored double figures as a midfielder for Gillingham when they were in league 1 and he is on loan at Wrexham now in the Conference.
Didn`t he cost 750k ? If we sold him for a million we would still need to re spend 750k just to by a suitable replacement ? Whats the point to gain 250k when you are selling your top goalscorer ? Would be mad and certainly piss me off.
The quote from Bailey in the News Shopper article down there, leaves me reasonably hopeful
"He explained: “I’ve still got two years left on my contract at Charlton, so who knows what’s going to happen. I’m a Charlton player, so unless something else happens I’m happy to play for Charlton.
“I’ve played most of my career in the lower leagues, so I’m not fussed about going down and helping the team come back up if we do go down.
"
He is the only one it could be. If it was not for the effort and goals from Bailey then the only option would have been to scrap this award. They should just announce the winner and not even both with the rest this year.
Perhaps that's why Parky's playing him out of position on the left - to keep him from catching the eye of would-be purchasers?
I think we may be lucky and able to hold to him for one more season at least - he must have a decent pay rise to join us and is prob. a local(ish) lad?

Reminds me of Peter Shirtliffe, being interviewed right after our St Andrews relegation play off victory over Leeds, having scored an equaliser and winner in the last few minutes:
The vacuous interviewer asked, " How does it feel to have scored 2 goals against a Yorkshire club and preventing them being promoted?
Without missing a beat, in thick Yorkshire accent, he came straight back with:
" ...'Appen I 'aff to plaaaaay for Chart'n".

That is guesswork squared. We've got no idea what he might get sold for when he goes. You also have to consider salary, and our financial position. Worry about it when it happens, dude. I think he'll definitely go, we just have to hope it's for enough money to strengthen the squad.
Bailey for me too. If we continue with this trend of always selling our better players, we'll keep dropping. If the club wants to sell season tickets for league one players like Bailey must be retained.

Mind you Len, he wanted to further his career and considers it a step up
Comments
At least it might bump his value up, unless the release clause rumour is true.
if it is let's hope they have put the trigger value as something substantial. POTY - nailed on.
Seem to remember quite a few negative comments on him on this board.
For a start he is from a lower league so MUST be crap and as he is also a CM competing with Jonjo pah to him ;o)
Whatever we think he's worth etc, we won't get more than a million for him if he goes.

I don't know what would trigger the maximum.

That Lloyd Sam is a promising youngster.

we've paid £450k for him so far.
Mind you Len, he wanted to further his career and considers it a step up
Not sure what his best position is,has made some glaring mistakes.
But his goals and committment stand out so much that he clearly is a fans favourite.
