TBH, I think it will be a great season in league 1. Hoepfully we will win more games then we have done this season, It will be my first season going on my own and my first season was 2000/2001 so this will be my first full taster of being a "Die Hard Fan". I'm glad we are going down now because if we stay up, i can only see us having another poor season in the CCC but if we gain promotion from league 1, hopefully we can come back better and stronger!
We were talking about it before the game, what exactly did we want from our club and what we could reasonable expect. Even amongst the older veterans amongst us the gap between reality and fantasy was pretty big.
Personally, I'll be there next season, and the season after that, the season after that, and so on and so on.
I sort of agree MCS that clubs do have a natural level. Man U, Spurs are top flight. Norwich are a typical 2nd teir club. Charlton I feel are a 2nd teir team also. With our recent achievments in the premiership we should not drop below that. Is that over expectation.
All teams will have expectations and if ours is to be a 2nd teir club then we are obviusly not meeting that ATM. So we, as fans, have to do all we can to make sure we are meetin those "expectations"
Totally agree Tavern and the worse things are the more I want to be there to support. I shall be a Reading. (Cant make Wolves unfortunately due to work commitments.)
I respect you blokes who cannot be disheartened by whatever Charlton throw at you I really do but its only buy accepting what is going wrong and striving to make things better that get results. Suppose Roger Alwen had thought that everthing with Charlton was rosy and he would continue to go whatever was on offer. We would no doubt be out of business by now. Charlton are better than division 3. Charlton deserve better. You deserve better.
Although I don't live there anymore I started watching CAFC in the early 70's. I've seen the shit years and been to shit places like Rotherham, Grimsby etc...for me to see us taking on and beating the likes of Spurs, Chelski and others has been a joy to behold. The year we were beating all the London teams was brilliant and I was able to take the piss out of some of my ex-pat mates. I feel completely left out of the football conversations nowadays and all I get is ridiculed. With some prudence and better decisions (like giving Curbs the 24 mil Pards and Dowie spunked away) we could still be there. So for me this is tough to take. Also the fact that I was able to see every CAFC game in the prem on TV over here was unbelievable. Sadly those days are gone but all you boys can enjoy your trips to Scunthorpe etc......I'll always be a charlton fan but the further we drop the more isolated I feel over here.....
I hate that we are going down. First time in my time watching that we will be at this level as I was 4 when they were last there !
I am highly unlikley to renew my season ticket as I can't see the point of committing to every home game when it will prob be just as cheap to buy individual tickets to games, plus I reckon I will go to more away games instead...if the weather is good (and they stay up etc) then Brigthon & Southend could be good trips. Bristol Rovers is a mates team so should be a corker and Millwall is nice and close...I usually only go to 2-3 a season, but next year expect that to be about 10 so not all bad i guess.

Keep the faith.
Do you know what,
I've read countless comments from irate blokes who have been round the block a few times, demanding this, furious at that, expecting this etc.
And then i read a post from a lad who is what, 14-15 years old ? that makes more sense to what football support is all about than the 1,000 posts the preceded it. No deal, no drama, no expectations. Just looking forward to going to football with his mates and hoping we win a few games.
