So, you're 3-2 down with 15 minutes to go - you look at the bench ...

and realise you've only got carthorse, can't be arsed Todorov on the bench when the game is crying out for someone to get on the end of Kandol's flick ons and create somethings too.

Cue you bring on Dickson and Shelvey.

Oh, hold on - you can't - because they dared to waste 4 or 5 half chances the other night - which is precisely more than Burton has had in total and Todorov can't even run!

Kandol did well today - and he's got family problems at home - puts Burton and Todorov to shame.

Kandol and Dickon tore Plymouth apart in our last win - and they've won their last 3 games too - so why on earth with both of them fit and available, did we not start with them?

Spring has SPRUNG - totally ineffective for two games in a row - ZZ did more going forward and defending/tracking back in 15 minutes than Spring has just done in over 150 minutes.

  • Chris Dickson, well he certainly earned his place with his performance on Tuesday didn't he
  • so one bad performance and your out, christ we would have no team left then.
  • Todorov deserved his place on the bench did he?

Shelvey not even in the 16?
  • Can see the point of pulling Jonjo out of the firing line but Dickson must be puzzled.
  • Dickson was shocking on Tuesday, anyone else who had put that performance in would have been slaughtered.
  • Agree, but Hudson has been shit all season but seems to be 1st name on tean sheet and captain and that is criminal.Plus dickson needs to play in a 2 man forward line.
  • And replaced by Todorov? He was not good at all - but as NSS said - if every player who had a mare this year in one game got replaced, we'd have NO players!
  • Unfortunately toddy looks like a horse waiting to be shot

We have no other central defenders.

I'm surprised that Toddy was preferred to Dickson as a sub, perhaps he had a knock?
  • I'll fecking play there then coz im a lot cheaper and a fecking lot better.

    agreed m8
  • Todorov should have brought his own ball along. Looks like the game is just a bit too fast for him.
  • Toddy looked like a player who has not been selected all season. Sadly no matter how good a player is if you dont play him at all then chuck him on for 15 mins to score you a goal it is highly unlikely to happen. He just has no match fitness whatsoever.

I know I am in a smaller and smaller minority here but I honestly think if we had played him every game he was fit for this season he would be by a long way our top scorer and would have created chances as well. Who knows, I guess we will see next season when he will no doubt join a different Championship side.
  • way to detsroy any confidence Dickson had....he was a good pairing against Plymouth with Kandol.....no Shelvey in the 16....Parky is an utter tosspot.....
  • Tuesday we go with Dickson and Shelvey - none of them can or want to be the one to flick the ball on, hold up the ball. Today we play Kandol and Burton, who both want to do that. Neither game it looked like the right partnership.

Didn't like the sound of Burton and Kandol together. Problem is Dickson is our only option as a quick striker, apart from Fleetwood who it's hard to see him getting a chance.

As for Todorov I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to Bulgaria (like Kishishev recently did). Who in the Championship is going to take a chance on him?
  • Dickson had no right to a place in today's squad after the pathetic showing on tuesday.

His shooting is poor, he can't get a header on target with the whole goal at his mercy, he's selfish and he has no intelligence on the football field whatsover.

What would be the point of playing him? I'm sick of reading how he's our best striker. If that's the case he should have taken his opportunity when given a few games in the side. He didn't score so what's the fuss about?

I agree that Shelvey deserved a place on the bench at least though.
  • I think another Champ team would take a chance on Toddy but only on a pay as you play deal...can see him ending up at somewhere like Coventry.
  • THey are sending Toddy to Coventry ? Whats he done ?
  • Lady Godiva's hoss for one, .............

He probably was slaughtered. Which is why he wasn't around the 16.

    Happens to Yassin tbh.

I think our bunch of strikers are hopeless tbf. If we had them for the whole season I reckon we'd be lucky to get 10 out of all of them combined.

I think he'll go into retirement. He'll be released at the end of the season and I can't see any team taking a chance on a player who's missed most of the last few years with a succession of injuries.
  • Yassin has had far more than one game of shit performances

Dicko should have been dropped and rightly so but not dropped from the 16

    ridiculous

    great mgr decision
  • Forgive me if this has been covered in a comment from Parky but do we actually know why Shelvey and Dickson werent in the squad yesterday. Is this speculation or are there some definate facts about it.

I have not been part of the Dicko fan club but after Plymouth I would have started with him alongside Kandol given that performance. If he was knackered after Tuesday I would have had him on the bench ahead of Todorov for the last 20 mins.

And if we wanted to rest Shelvey that wasnt the match to do it either as it was our last chance of survival.
  • [cite]Posted By: Imissthepeanutman[/cite]If he was knackered after Tuesday I would have had him on the bench ahead of Todorov for the last 20 mins.

Doubt he was knackered after tuesday, he didn't do anything!
  • The more we look at it the more it seems that Parkinson doesn't have a clue. Yes Dickson was poor on Tuesday, but has looked good when paired with Kandol, who wasn't available on Tuesday. Burton has looked poor in every game he has played so far. Kandol was excellent yesterday, but they both kept going for the same ball, and as for the time when Burton was put through, yet didn't know what to do, for god's sake. Kandol/Dickson is a no-brainer surely.
Shelvey is not a forward to my mind and is much more effective when further back where he can speed up the midfield play, as he did on Tuesday when he was put back into midfield. Why wasn't he even on the bench? ridiculous!
  • I would like to see Parky try

    Elliott

    Solly
    Ward
    Hudson
    Youga

    Racon
    Bailey
    Shelvey
    ZZ
(you can pick whatever format you like but Bailey in the middle)

    Dickson
    Kandol

    Subs
    Randolph
    Holland (until Semedo is fit)
    Sam
    Ambrose
    Burton

I really wouldnt bother with any other loanees as I cant see we would want them in League 1.
I would rather we send them back and save a few pennies.

Ward is a loanee. And Candle ;o)

Sorry, didn't read your post properly - missed the 'other loanees' bit.

    Soz.
  • [cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Ward is a loanee. And Candle ;o)

Yeh I know that. But we may need them in League 1 and are positions that we are really short of fit contracted players. Soares and Butterfield offer us nothing for the future.

ZZ and Ambrose are only in my 16 to see if we can get them in the shop window as we need to offload.
