Obviously Shelvey and Dickson were Parkinson's for Tuesday, for me Spring and Hudson were awful today closely followed by Butterfield. Was pleasently suprised that my pre-match favourite of Burton did ok.
what like the ball he chased down and won and crossed to the invisible man who didn't bovver trying to get in the box.I detest the man but thought he did ok 2day
I remember the one he crossed, he did ok there, but that was it, and even awith that chance I thought if he had reacted quicker to the ball to him in the first place he would have had a great chance to score himself.
For me Spring was absolutely invisible...shocking! Thought Burton was one of the more committed players out there, admittedly doesn't have much quality.
Burton's just never going to score. As a player he's ok, though nothing more.
Still don't see much in Spring. A tidy player like him is fine if everything is going well. He's not doing much wrong, but he's not doing much good either.

So was Hughes - isn't Spring a Hughes clone?????????
I thought Burton played well today. Battling against two 7'6" centre halves he won his fair share of ball & passed it intelligently. I just can't understand those who slate him constantly; he's a decent player but he's not a goalscorer. Never has been & never will be. You can't blame him if Parkinson thought he WAS a goalscorer when he bought him.
[cite]Posted By: valleyman[/cite]Burton was awful today, did absolutely nothing whatsoever, never won a ball and never made a pass that made it to another red shirt. Hopeless.
Apart for the control and reverse pass to put Kandol through one on one for our first goal.
Burton and Kandol were giving Watford all sorts of problems in the first half.
Second half they put another big forward on, went long to put pressure on to turn Ward and Hudson and doubled up on Sam to stop him running at them.
They out thought and out fought us second half. Butterfield showed how good Murty is, Hudson was a lump, Spring shrank in the second half and IMHO only Kandol, Elliot and Racon come out with 7/10 or better. Burton did what Burton does but when the midfield stopped running beyond him there was no one to lay the ball off to.
ZZ did some nice stuff but too little too late.
Bizarre decision from Parkinsella to drop Dickson and Shelvey completely. Can understand resting Jon Jo with a game in midweek coming up but I would have at least put him on the bench. Ditto Dickson to come on as an impact player. Much as I admire Toddy he is slow and is leaving in a few months. Dickson was poor on Tuesday but he needs a run in the side to learn, even if just coming off the bench.
A depressing defeat but I like Kandol and would sign him for next year if wages and contracts make it possible.
And it was an exciting game so OhahhMortimer will be happy ; - )
Burton's best game for us to date - however, he's not a goalscorer and the one where he was put clean through in the first half and then messed it up, show's he won't ever be the man to score goals for us. But very good pass for Kandol's goal - and considering Kandol's homelife - we'd be mad not to sign him up as he was our most dangerous threat yesterday.
With 15 minutes to go, the game was crying out for a forward with pace and something to show and instead we got Toddy ... who simply cannot be bothered.
Bailey should play in the middle with Racon and get Soares and Sam wide.
elliot is such a nothing keeper , he'll never win us a game(you know what i mean) and is so ordinary it's unbelievable...
feet glued to his line when he should be on his toes clearing things up that break through
get weaver back
in fact too late leave elliot or randolph in they need to learn but we wont win promotion with elliot in goal FACT
Totally perplexed by the omission of both shelvey and dickson.Kandol looked good, spring didnt want to tackle and seemed to go out of his way not to get involved in any sort of challenge and the full backs youga and butterfield were bloody awful, the midfield went missing during parts of the game.
Not sure naming and shaming scapegoats is particularly helpful.
But if we must look for a scapegoat, here goes.
Butterfield was hopeless. Thought Youga had one of his better games, to be honest. Sam was good first half before they worked him out. Spring was clearly already thinking about his summer holidays. Kandol was impressive , but faded. I agree with Henry that Burton was good first half (or at least once he got going - he started very sluggishly, I thought). Hudson was easily out-shone by Ward and from what I could see did absolutely nothing to try to raise the team's morale and justify his wearing the captain's armband. I thought Racon gave the ball away more times than everybody else put together - but perhaps that was because he was at least trying to create something and not hiding, as Spring appeared to be doing. Baily never hides but cannot see why he's not in the centre.
But if we must apportion blame, we all know where it stops.
This is what Parky said after the match :
"I didn't feel we were strong enough as a unit or aggressive enough as a team ...it's that mentality at the start of the second half. You have to do all the ugly, horrible things right at the start of each half to get the opposition on the back foot ...Once we went 3-2 down there was an air of resignation about us. ..I sensed our fighting spirit was lacking today.''
As I pointed out elsewhere last night, none of that is about the players' skill levels. It's all about their mentaility and how up for it they were. And it's his job as manager to instil that, isn't it?
Which I guess is why even a stalwart loyalist like Henry (that's a compliment, H !) admits that his faith in the management took a ''huge dent'' yesterday.

His penalty does not count!
Dickson may be useless
but he causes more problems for defenders that Burton and will turn and run with the ball.
Burton showed in the 1st half why he should never play for us again - through ball by Sam and he stopped running.
p****k.
There were certainly many equally as bad, Youga, Hudson, Spring & Butterfield for starters.
Still don't see much in Spring. A tidy player like him is fine if everything is going well. He's not doing much wrong, but he's not doing much good either.

Bailey was below par today as was racon, thought sam, burton and elliot put a good shift in, Kandol was good

Which is why Parkie should go.
At last somone mentioning that Kandol did well yesterday
Spring had a bad one for sure
Burton looked like poor
Todrov no comment
My faith in Parkinsella took a huge dent yesterday I have to say.
This thread is for scapegoating. Can't expect praise for a forward scoring goals as he's a loan player and so totally uncommitted to the club.
Apart from the third goal and the time he messed up and Elliot had to pull out a great stop to save his bacon.
Agree
But he set our first goal up
feet glued to his line when he should be on his toes clearing things up that break through

yep very exciting but the standard of footy was park stlyey at times ....watford tried to lose but we were too shit to capitalise
