Was is me or did the game just pass him by last night? He hardly made any contribution to the game last night whatsoever. In fact apart from the winner he got against Palace I can't think of anything positive he has contributed in the time he has been with us. He is too lightweight to play in the centre of the park, he is not a ball winner, does not get box to box, his passing is average, in fact he is an average player. IMO despite him getting to the end of his playing plays I would rather have Matt Holland in there instead of Spring.

Didn't have a great game but he's done well when he's played before in games I've seen. He was very good v Palace and Plymouth and has scored twice already.
He does get box to box, does put a tackle in and can pass and score. Good player IMHO and one below average game doesn't alter that.
Offers much more than Holland.

Great. Can't wait for it to happen!!! I'll give you the goals against Palace and Wednesday which were 2 very good finishes Henry , but personally I don't see it myself with Spring.
So arriving late in the box to score doesn't count as box to box.
He's not a world beater but as len said he does all those little things that you miss when he goes off. He doesn't fly into tackles as he reads the game well and he has always scored goals.
Not sure him and Shelvey works and maybe he could play out wide in the four and swap with Bailey but he's a decent player.
Think you are being over harsh on one performance when he was being praised and given good ratings after previous games.
Here, here. Didn't have a good game last night but not many did!
Agree with that.

Yes it does but IMO Spring does not do it enough for me.

I'm not going on just last nights performance I'm going on other games he has played for us this season. I'm not saying he does not give his all for the team or that he does not care like some players we have had over the last 3 years, but im my opinion I would rather have Holland or Bailey playing in the centre of the park.

oh here we go the scape goat hunters are out of the woodwork

I'm not looking for a scape goat muppet. I'm not saying Spring was the reason we lost last night or the reason we are in the position we are. I'm just voicing an opinion that I don't rate him as a player. Some do (Henry and others) some don't. That's what football is about. Having an opinion.
shortly b4 Parkinsella did the decent thing and hauled him off
looks to lightweight for centre-mid in my opinion
waste shunting Bailey out on the left for Spring to flitter around the centre of the park and fail to stamp any kind of authority on the game...

I did. To my mates down the pub after that game ;-). Not my cup of tea as a player. Nothing personal against Spring. Football would be pretty boring if we all had the same opinion on every player
When it's going well a player like him is useful, when you're struggling he looks like the first player that should be dropped.
FACT
Yep, at Hull
Usually the word FACT in blocks means that someone is talking cack, but in this case, you are completely correct.
Spring was OK but not outstanding last night. If you couldn't see the difference between Shelvey/Ambrose and their no mans land shuttle running and Springs positional play then... Spring is a very good passer of the ball but Dickson had to drop deep all of the first half, and Soares and Bailey were deep as well. The main attribute to Spring is he knows his position inside out and doesn't sell himself like Bailey. His tackling isn't blockbuster but above every other midfielder apart from Bailey; who's wild as we all know. He is strong on the ball or in tight situations. As soon as he went off we were overrun in the center of the pitch for the first time, Shelvey tried but was rarely in the right place.
Sure I'd rather see Sam than Soares as he offers something different to inside tight players like Soares and Bailey. Sam's width really improved us when he came on. Spring and Racon are key to this team and with Bailey playing it's nice to see a midfield who the majority tackle compared to when Pardew rarely played more than one capable tackler in midfield.
Two footed, mixes it up ....
