jonjo last night

edited March 2009 in General Charlton
Thought he was effin terrible couldnt past to our men didnt make any tackles watched men go by him and slowly jogged back..i know hes only 17 but he was never the right man to play in a game of last nights importance..he needs to learn some basics before he can be involved in our 'big games' same with dickson..

  • Thought the position didn't suit him that much and the 10 minutes in the central midfielder role he looked a lot more assured of what was required of him.

Still very young not the man to be alying the blame at!! Our other 2 Racon Jurys still out on him very quiet and Spring I thought never got invloved.
  • Was wondering if Parky has been told to play him.

Given that he may well be the only commodity worth anything, they could sell him in the summer ...
  • Jonjo at the moment I think would be better as an impact sub use those young legs of his for the last half an hour.
  • he just looked tired after about 30 mins.
  • No I think what some of you should be doing is looking at yourselves for putting all your hope onto a 17 year olds shoulder and ecpect him to trounce every team we play on his own.

    that's the problem

Two games in close succession is too much at 17. Mentally as much as physically.

He has had better games but he is still learning and will not perform wonderfully every time.

Agree Entirely get off his back! He is 17 I think as it was a VERY VERY rare off game we should allow him some slack surely?
  • What Ledge said. For Christs sake the lad has just turned 17 and just signed his contract. Did he feel that he needed to try too hard ? You bet he did. He won`t be anywhere near the finished article for another SIX years.

That's a really good point. And the other point about 2 games in close succession.

I think he looked like he needed different types of players (and at times better) around him. Norwich cup game, he had two quick wingers (and Yassin) making runs he could spray the ball out to, and Burton to win headers and hold up the ball. Last night he had central midfielders out wide, including a right footed player on the left. Up front Dickson who doesn't always make the the best runs into space.

To be fair its Parky who chooses the team not us.

  • His corners were good and he has the balls to shoot. The only time Spring got involved was when he came off.
  • How the f**k can people be having a go at Jonjo??

I can take losing, but cannot defend players who dont try 100%.

Spring, Soares. Have the ability and we have seen it. In our biggest game of the season they offer 60%.....what a joke!!

If everyone put in a shift last night like Bailey, Shelvey maybe we would have got something.

maybe it was something to do with our crowds silence from the word go. Why is it we need the drums or a goal to make any sort of sound!!

That has been our problem for nearly the last decade!

The young lad had a poor game, but he never hid. It happens every now and then. He was not only one to have a poor one.

Give some credit to Donny for making it hard for our midfield with their passing and movement. And their closing down.

Shelvey wasn't helped by Dickson having a poor game but both tried.

I think Spring did OK and tried to offer an outlet and move the ball forward.

The silly early booking for Racon meant he was worried to get stuck in most of the game.

Soares never really got going but backed up Butterfield well.

Not sure if it was the conditions or orders but both Shelvey and DIckson seemed to want to shot on sight.

by then we'll be 5th in the premier!
  • enjoy him for these last few games he'll be off to pastures new in the summer;-(
  • Only 5th........Doom monger !

It's no coincidence that the two most self-confident seeming players were the two having the most shots.

Jonjo wasn't at his best last night, but dicko's hold up play wasn't helping because the ball wasn't sticking upfront. Jonjo's confidence and self-belief is amazing and is great to watch. He never hides and always wants the ball and isn't afraid to shoot. Even after not playing at his best, his attitude makes me sure we have a star of the future on our hands. The only bright spark.

i'm just hoping people will realise that he wont be here next season IF(lol) we go down;-(
  • if everyone was pulled up for repeating there thoughts on here it'd half the posts.

still, take each game as it comes and i'm sure we'll turn the corner.
  • just concentrate on what we're doing other results don't matter.... erm err well maybe they do

Well when it's the same sentence over and over it gets pretty tedious.

Yes but I do prefer the Curbs posts very enjoyable please continue OOh AAh
  • I thought Jonjo played well, his set pieces caused all kinds of problems for Doncaster, if we had a striker on form then last night could have had a very different outcome.
  • he tried a bit too hard which seemed to affect his game but, for me, he still offered more than Soares, Spring and Racon put together
  • harsh on racon who actually got the ball in the net ;- )
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]harsh on racon who actually got the ball in the net ;- )

On that note did we ever establish why the goal was disallowed?

foul on the keeper which seemed harsh as Sullivan came out to punch the ball away and Dickson just stood his ground.

To be fair Racon's shot would may have been saved by Sullivan. He didn't move as the whistle had long gone.
