[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]I still don't see a reason to change it, Hudson and Ward is fine for now. They might not be quick if the rest of the team play well they won't be under as much pressure as our defence has been for most of the season.
True. now Dickson is defending from the front, as he's been told to for months and has finally cottoned on, the ball doesn't come back straight to the defence so they are under less pressure.
Plus Soares and Kandol bring some extra height to the defence at set pieces but the real reason for the leaky defence was Dickson's poor hold up play at the front. : - )
[cite]Posted By: Addick Addict[/cite]The final "nail in the coffin" for you doubters is answered by the following questions:
(1) What number is normally associated with the position of centre back?
(2) Which of our players wears that number?
Need I say anymore?
PS ZZ's at 5' 11'' is a whole 2" taller than Matty at 5' 9". And as we all know that two inches can be vital.
wasn't Andy Reid number 5 before ZZ?!
makes no sense throwing ZZ straight back into action, let him warm the bench a few times, build up fitness and use him if/when things start to go wrong/stale.
We can play one more loanee and we will need cover for Hudson and Ward even if Youga and Holland can fill in.
I hear worrying rumours that we are getting chummy with a team in Glasgow that isn't a Celtic so even better a loan from them that doesn't count towards the five loans.

Was that defending from the front of the bench Henry beacuse I think you'll find that Dicko's only actually been on the pitch for 7 of the 59 goals we've let in this season. Poor Dicko gets the blame for everything.
[cite]Posted By: CAFCBourne[/cite]i can see the logic but for me Kandol missed a few sitters saturday but won quite a few headers so i would stick him at Centre back
Back in the day I always used think Leaburn was immense at defending corners.
I , like many others dont think he should go straight in, see if he impresses from the bench, or in reserve games, let him fight his way into a winning side ; )
ZZ played wide left in his first season for us, so on the basis I thought Spring was our least effective midfielder at the weekend, IF ZZ gets back in - and I wouldn't change a winning side, I'd like to see Bailey and Racon in the middle of the park with ZZ and Soares as the wide midfielders, Sam, Spring and Shelvey on the bench, with Holland + Randolph.
I think Shelvery OR ZZ as the other attacking midfielder to play with Kandol or Dickson if we needed to make a change up front - Burton is ok, but he's never going to offer us enough of a goalscoring threat.
[cite]Posted By: Brunello[/cite]Out of total boredom I picked my best team from the whole squad today and Bailey never even got in.
Midfield of ZZ Semedo Racon Soares
close call between Bailey and Semedo in that midfield, maybe swap them round for home and away games. Bailey offers goals which we can't really afford to do without.

No Spring? Offers goals and hard work but I do like Semedo. Hard choice is they were all fit.
I really think that our quality (don't laugh) and depth of squad (especially in midfield is one the main factors why I am feeling ever so slightly positive for the first time towards the back end of a season.

Dont disagree. It was making assumptions that all were in top form.
I also had a front two of Dickson and Gray with the back five the same as on Saturday.
have a feeling we'll sign Kandol whatever division we're in, so i suppose i'd wait a bit longer to see if his partnership with Dicko carries on well, but otherwise yh it would be Gray n the Dickmeister
Not sure Spring is one of our best four midfielders really. People said he played like Bryan Hughes and I see that the more I see him play. Won't make many mistakes, will get the odd goal, will try to defend even if he's not strong or a great tackler. Apart from goalscoring is he any better than Wright? If he is it's not by a great deal.
I am a big fan of Spring. Does all the little jobs well, and has that composure on the ball that Bailey lacks.
ZZ has to start on the bench as take his chance when it comes. The midfield 4 we had against Plymouth are good enough to control games against better teams than Plymouth.

faster, stronger, more experienced, better passer and doesn't throw his toys out the pram when not picked.
Neither are particularly quick or strong. More experienced obviously. Better passer not really, that's down to Wright's lack of experience rather than his ability to pass a ball, making the right decisions. Throwing his toys out of the pram isn't really anything to do with his ability as a footballer.
Spring is in posession of the shirt, Wright isn't.
Parky is always going to prefer the established experenced campaigner, if he does the business - and so far Springy has settled in fine.
Anyway, it's not about selecting your 4 'best on paper' midfielders and starting them together - it's about finding the right blend and balance for the midfield to operate as a unit, defend and be creative.
ZZ's got to start from the bench - he's been out 4 months, undoubtedly lacks match fitness and will benefit from being eased back for a couple of games.
His chance will come, when somebody takes a knock or there's a little juggle around the starting line-up, perhaps to accomodate a change elsewhere in the team.
Meanwhile, the 4 CM's strung across the park, playing not so deep as before seem to be working well as a unit.
If it ain't broke don't fix it, eh...?
Wright's facebook entries have him in permanent party mode. Would be very sorry to see ZZ get in front of Jonjo. I suspect we'll have precious little time to enjoy the skills of the young prodigy as it is.

Yes, in Chinese ZZs name starts with the 3rd letter of the alphabet.

How many winners has Wright got against Palace?

For that reason our best team now may not be our best team in other circumstances.
For example Ambrose is more naturally gifted than, say, Bailey but who would you rather have batting for you at the moment?
;o)
Come the end of the season, even more important we get in front of the 22nd team.
It's OUR future as a club at stake.
If Jonjo's ready, he'll play his part.
