I think that we need to look no further than last Saturday's results for Norwich and Forest to see that we SHOULD have indeed brought an outsider in. Can't remember which player said it but he was raving about "the breath of fresh air that Davies had brought into the club with a different training regieme and new approach to everything" 'bout says it all!!!!
At the risk of being sunk (I had a look to see if this had been discussed elsewhere, and couldn't find it), it appears that Ince isn't fixated on a prem club or top tier CCC club.
His agent (according to F365) is dropping Norwich hints...
And, to stay on topic, I like the concept of Holland as player-manager and think that it merits discussion, but the badges issue might be too much to overcome.
[cite]Posted By: McLovin[/cite]Terrible idea. Let's get in somebody with a bit of form. Good managers don't always come up where you expect them to. Despite the Blackburn misadventure I'd like Ince, or the man that followed him into MK Dons - Di Matteo
We might "like" Ince but we are not going to get him. He's had a taste of the Premiership and his next job will be at a lower-end Premiership club or an aspiring CCC club, not a potless bunch of Division Three hacks like us.
Both Ince and Di Matteo have taken jobs at lesser clubs than us. Promoting from within hasn't exactly been a raging success, has it?
Yes, they have taken lesser jobs that us but that was, as you say, "in the past."
I can't see Ince going from a Premiership job at Blackburn to a Third Division job with a potless Charlton.
As for DiMatteo, the same deal applies, I think that he will have his eyes set a bit higher than a potless Third Division Charlton, what's the point of going from MKD to a Third Division Charlton? What would be the difference, really?
I am not saying we should promote from within neccesarily, just that we need to be looking at more realistic targets like John Hughes from Jockland.

That is a major punishment for someone who has served us well.
