Anyone remember seeing the poster for the film ‘Being John Malkovich’ – it featured hundreds and hundreds of Malkovich ‘heads’.
Well, how about, to show Richard Murray that he has become a part of our anxieties and concerns rather than a man always beyond criticism, we all go to the game – dressed as Richard Murray??! In a grey suit, get the right rubber wigs etc. and the team will be confronted by a sea of Richard Murrays!!
I can hear the report now on Sky Sports News:-
Amazing events taking place right now at The Valley where, as a protest against recent decision-making by the club’s directors, 20,000 Charlton fans have entered the ground dressed exactly like their Chairman Richard Murray.
No arrests have been reported, although one un-named Charlton fan has been rushed to hospital after suffering uncontrollable multiple orgasms.
As much as the I like the idea of a boycott or mass walk out, I just don't think you would get the strength of support to make it work.
We were all supposed to boycott the first game at Sellout in '85. How many were there? 5k plus, and that was at a time when our average gate wasn't much more than 5k.
Take a steward hostage and dont give him back till we start winning .
or that last game against Norwich when its all over rather than singing ra ra ra ra ra ra Charlton,or Always look on the bright side, or we will be back in a years time how abut 20,000 people singing " your shit and WE KNOW YOU ARE"
[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]we need to demonstrate loud and angry like all other fans would do, none of this nicey nicey bollox proper wind and rain outside after a game making every single one of them want to stay inside. keep those over paid pampered bstds away from their 50 grand motors and stop them going home to their footballers mansion, make the board see that we are fecking fuming and are not rolling over to have our bellies rubbed and be fobbed off with bollox
Spot on NLA, I am with you on this one, see you behind the West stand after the Palace game!!
I understand the sentiment, and the frustration, but dont see how it would be advantageous to us.
If we had a board that didn't give a flying feck, and were obviously fleecing the club, then fine, all for it, but this board do care, they may have made mistakes, but they do care, and there is a very big difference.
Remember, most of the board came from the terraces, and they are hurting....the players however, I'm not so sure they give a feck either way, apart from maybe a couple.
''The johnny come lately effect that The Valley Express has had may well of put much needed money in to the club but it has had a negative effect too with shocking home atmospheres'' **********************************************************************************************
Don't talk wet. 1200 more fans make for a worse atmosphere? I get the coach, the people on it are the same every week, all life long fans & season ticket holders for years. Just because we live on the coast, we shouldn't be singled out so that the club can go and waste more money.
I like Large's idea best. A walkout at a pre-determined minute - say 25 minutes into the first half - would have a tremendous impact. A silent protest is easily drowned out, but a walkout is not. This site is only a tiny minority of fans but if everyone got their mates and familiies to do it too, it would have a tremendous impact. And others would follow. That or a loud angry protest - and I'm not sure that Charlton fans are ever going to be great at this, are the only way to show disgust at the mistakes that they seem to be making and repeating.
The problem is that those that buy a ticket on the day would never go for it, reasonably enough, but if a good proportion of the season tickets go, it will speak louder than anything else we could do.

If you have been around as long as you say then surley you would have noticed a decline in the atmosphere at The Valley. We have gone from 8k average to 20k overnight and whilst they all dont come on a bus the atmosphere is shocking. The fact that Charlton is now so accessible, namely thru Valley Express, has either reinvogated a love for Charlton or created a new one. However it has created a new animal of fan who only knew Charlton as a top flight club. Whilst it is great for the club in new revenue it also has had a detrimental effect. How long is it before the crowd start to get on the players back. And I am not just talking about the last two or three seasons. No wonder we used to play better away from home.

agree 100% with that , it's an impossible situation , the board aren't stupid and know they've had a mare unfortunately , you'd rather be in this position with our board than a fly by nighter who was trying to make a quick buck
If the Valley Express was there when i first started going before the Prem years i would of used it, as i'm sure the rest of the users will agree. And no i don't know Charlton as only a top flight club. It's a huge generalisation to accuse the Valley Express users for the falling levels of atmosphere.

So the fans made a 40foot banner of a very pink backside!! and lifted it up as the players came onto the pitch!
