[cite]Posted By: Ketman[/cite]I think the run we have been on has been so damaging to us the only way we were ever gonna eventually win was ugly & we are gonna have to get used to it, cos free flowing football is never gonna get us out of the predicament we find ourselves in. As for the people having a pop at Golfie, yes he is negative but he did go which a few on here having a go didn't, he's just making some fair observations. As Steve said after the Donny game we told everyone we were shite everyone who didn't go just accused us of being negative. Say what you see...!
I think as one who was positive after the Doncaster result, I deserve the right of reply. I thought the Donny game marked the turning point because we won super ugly. We scored very early, and then the players dug in and ground out a result when frankly it looked for all the world as we would be turned over. The positives I saw was a solid determined win at all costs mentality. What I didn't see at Donny was us playing decent football. It seemed to me that the win was a spring board. It turned out to be a damp squib.
I wouldn't pick holes in much of what Golfie said, it's just that I would put a slightly more positive spin on the result. We needed so much to win a game and we did. Thats it really. We haven't suddenly become promotion contenders, we are still deep in the fertiliser and we will need to play much better than that to get out of it. We did however put in a performance. No player hid, they all put in a decent shift and this was not our managers first choice eleven and he clearly now has a good problem for Saturday.
The best thing for me was the celebration at the end, with players and fans embracing. To me it showed the they cared and they have been hurting like we have. I saw Josh Wright in an embrace with a fan and others too.
Totally fair comments Bing, the Truth will out eventually. I will be perfectly happy playing gritty, ugly, dogs of war football for the rest of the season, as it will prove the players care & we will be in with a chance every single game for the remainder of the season playing that way.

Me too. Loved that the players celebrated with the fans at the end. Heard Moots was involved again (so what if he makes the odd mistake, he bloody well cares). That moment was for the travelling 300 - well done all.

I'd build my side around Moots. Yes he has the odd defensive lapse but who hasn't this season. What he does give us is a massive "out" when we need to go forwards and his pace means that he is never likely to get stranded. If Parky plays Murty there on Saturday, why not play Moots wide right a head of him. They could alternate going forward. I'd play Ambrose on the left ahead of Basey at LB. (I don't see Sam as our wide player either right or left). That way we have cover down the flanks, pace and flair going forward and if we need to narrow up in midfield, these two could do it easily.
If we play with Bailey and Spring (or Wright) at the heart of midfield and Shelvey just behind the striker, that would be a much more creative platform which is also very solid defensively. Personally I'd play either Dickson or Gray up front as a striker, I might even try Ambrose up there just ahead of Shelvey.

Great shout Bing,
I like the look of Moots in front of Murts and Ambrose in front of Basey, overlapping ability and pace.
Ambrose never gets involved enough out wide. He needs to play behind the striker as he did last night, where he can break through and have shots on goal. Sticking Basey wide left adds grit to the midfield and provides excellent crossing into the box. One winger is the way to go, but we need Youga to start performing at left back. Do the majority of attacking down the right flank with Moo2 and Sam.
Parky's bound to play his mate Murty though, and perhaps that's no bad thing if Moo2 should play in front of him.
Perhaps, Parky's thinking for saturday - start with Ambrose in the hole, pull him off after an hour and replace with Jonjo?
Or can we play them both ast the same time?
Although Yassin makes mistakes (but so do all our defenders), he can make up for it in other ways, winning throw ins or corners any other right back wouldn't win through his pace, overlapping to give our right winger support, taking the pressure off by taking the ball out of defence etc. It's worth playing him and with games he'll improve.
He aint getting stick he is being asked why can he not just enjoy the feeling of a win after all it has been over a 100 days since our last one icouldnt give 2 shits if we were awful i couldnt care if the goal was scored by a loanee or the defence was made up of palace reserves.
After going to the game and us being on such a poor run the last thing i would do is look at the negatives
WE WON FFS just enjoy that feeling it might not happen again all season
Well said, NLA ....... we won, for crying out loud !
If we went on a mega-miracle run and won all 19 matches and into the play-offs, won Wembley, and promoted to the Prem, lol - there would still be people on here who would say, "Parky out, Ambrose is shit, Jonjo's not ready, and Curbs would have done better".
Comments
Holland did it against Swansea, way back at the beginning of the season.

We do need that essential 'dogs of war' attitude, but we need to be able to play football too.
No im not, had to proper bight my tongue with that lot!!
Can't believe are giving him stick, afterall he actually got off his arris and went, whereas 95% on here were watching SSN. . . . .
Prior to last night when was he last time we played a full team with NO loan players??
Perhaps, Parky's thinking for saturday - start with Ambrose in the hole, pull him off after an hour and replace with Jonjo?

That all sounds a bit dodgy ;-)
LOL, I'm gonna have to choose my words more carefully, ha ha!

Whether its fair or not is not the point. After having not won for 3mths and having just been present at that 1 win, why the f**k is he still moaning?
The problem with Golfie is that he NEVER posts anything positive and never has done.
Even following a good result and good performance the bloke goes missing only to reappear when theres something to moan about. He has no balance...
