Johnstone's Paint Trophy

  • Are they really that bothered? Surely it's far more important to go for promotion (and keep the club running of course) than defending the JPT?
  • The draw for this isn't until 8 or 15 August - matches will be in the week commencing 31 August. Wolves, Bolton and Birmingham have won this during lean spells. (And Wigan, ho ho.)
  • We have to approach this in the White spirit. However, the unvarnished truth is that it would take the gloss off of winning it if we missed out on promotion.
  • I'll have a small wager on Holland scoring the first goal, with a 20 yard "Matt" finish.

    .....Gets his "Top Coat"................
  • Perhaps we need a good rub down before the match.

    And the pitch well sanded.

Preparation is the key, you know.

But if we win it, we will all be painting the town red
  • Is it possible to have Johnstones paint wallpaper for my computer ?

  • how did we achieve this I wonder?
  • someone had to get a bye to the second round, why not us : - )
  • I can't see it on the OS fixture list either

    :)
  • 16 clubs given a bye into the second round
  • Our regional teams:

Barnet, Brentford, Colchester United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gillingham, Millwall, Milton Keynes Dons, Norwich City
  • Plus some or all of the other southern teams given byes-

Aldershot Town, Brighton & Hove Albion, Exeter City, Leyton Orient, Southampton, Southend United and Swindon Town.
  • It doesn't seem based on club League position.

So maybe the clubs given byes are randomly selected or drawn from a hat .... ?
  • Norwich didn't get a bye, they must be a bit miffed.

Byes were decided this season by the number of a's and e's in the team's name. Charlton had enough with 3. If the team has over 4, it is considered "busting". Bad luck, Norwich City and Dagenham & Redbridge.

  • I thought it was decided by the number of 'Oooohs' and 'Ahhhs' by a club's crowd during matches..... ?

The better the atmosphere, the more chance your team has of being awarded a bye in Little Johnny's painting competition.
  • Roll on the next round.

    I'll get me (under)coat

    JPT

Apparently teams have to play at least 6 of the 11 players who have made the most starts in the league and cup this season. Try getting that rule into the league cup and see what alex ferguson says.

Also no extra time, straight to penalties.
  • What if they pick up "minor niggles" though?
  • We've got at leat 3 players who are carrying injury and couldn't be risked.

So 6 of Saturday's starting line up must actually start ........or can they be on the bench ....?
  • they have to actually start the game oggy.

maybe we'll use some early substitutions...
