Why didn't anyone sing it on Saturday?

EDIT: Just seen the article and it says we are 7 from safety. I thought we was 8 points from it. One less point to make up, I'm feeling more positive now.

Don't forget most teams now have a game in hand on us.

    ...............still inconsolable.................
  • [cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]I thought that must be the case Airman tbh,

What i dont get though is why these papers dont let the public know taht the club is shutting them and us out in this way.

We deserve to be treated better than this

mostly it's money - the News Shopper's owners, Newsquest, are notoriously tightfisted and have been slashing budgets at all their papers, and the Mercury has been run down to a shadow of its former self by its previous owners, Trinity Mirror.

journalism is now a very difficult place to make money in - nobody in their right mind would look to a local newspaper to get their Charlton news first, for example, when the official site has a pretty tight grip on things. So owners don't invest, the journalism gets worse, and a vicious cycle continues.

This isn't meant as a criticism of Paul's work at the NS, incidentally - unlike many in his industry, he's adapting to changing time by pushing his stuff here and engaging with fans.
  • To be fair, the Mercury was free in 1985 and it was no less run down under Westminster Press, who sold it to Trinity in 1996, than it is now. Trinity actually put resources into it from 1996 onwards.

The major issue with the Mercury now is that it is partly used as a vehicle to promote and underpin the SLP, which is the focus of the sports coverage, but the two papers do not have the same footprint or penetration. Hence the latter is dominated by Millwall.
  • There in lies the problem for me,

I really cant understand how we have had Leeds fans, Forest Fans, Newcastle Fans, Spuds, Gooners ,QPR when they had no cash, Scum wanks from up the road all have had people questioning their clubs over issues.

IMO and this has been going on for ages there is no one with the inclanation to question our club, I know taht only a very small amount of people would be interested but FFS someone say or do something.

It goes back to the days of selling Parker,Murphy,Reid we knew that atleast 2 of them had been tapped up yet there was no one questioning the situation. Curbs said a few things and there was noise about things from the club. but no one said anything.

when reed took over from dowie we wwere a laughing stock no one said anything to them or didnt report back that the club was being difficult.

When Pardew started to go wrong no one questioned the board or him on their decisions why ??

Now were are here in this position and still we have noone questioning them, we have no one with the access required and the balls to ask hard questions.

I would love to be a journo and stand up and say the things taht need to be said.

I would be in and around that club sniffing hard there is obviously things that are rotting there must be in fighting it has to be there the must be a power struggle within the club is not healthy there are cracks appearing through out of it.

    we have announced huge losses

We have just broken the record for the longest run with out a win in the history of the club.

We have just employed a man who has not recorded a win in 8 attaempts and since he got the job fulltime still hasnt

it is a dream job to take on it will have all that a sports journo would need to make a great story yet NO ONE (up until now hopefully) has been prepared to ask.

I want to understand why i want one of you lot to answer the question as it is driving me fecking nutts i want someone to tell me your right i have a friend a brother a sister a family member who is in the jorno game, I am a journo and i will fecking take this up and run with it.

we have soome very intellegant and articulate people on here who know how to word things better than me now is the time for you guys to do your stuff and stop the in fighting we have on here and get the answers to questions that need asking even if we wont like the answer we are big enough to deal with it.

    rant over sorry
  • NLA, you are right that the current situation is ripe for a good investigative item. However, the Nationals won't see it as selling papers and the locals probably havn't got the resources to spend time on it as the same guy also has to do the ad's for lost and found etc at the same time. As far as I can see the first thing to do is to make the AGM very, very awkward for those concerned and get some answers.
  • "Football club fucks up" isn't really much of a story nationally, either, unless there's malicious intent, which we know there isn't. Football clubs fuck up all the time.

I think the AGM is key, too.
  • i think enough is enough tbh large if things keep staying how they are can you imagine our last home game if i was on the board i wouldnt turn up because it could get quite tasty if it hasnt already by then.

Anyone who goes to the AGM should throw loads of unannounced questions at them and wait for the response it needs to done in a direct way not a pussy footed pre arranged q and a

bet the first one to do it gets slung out

None taken mate - the internet is just the way the journalism is going. I quite enjoy it if truth be told as there are no real deadlines as such.
