if we won 10 games out of the remaining we would stay up fact.
i aint saying we will stay up but for gods sake surely there is a winning run on the horizon the performances that would usually have got us fuk all have got us 2 wins in 4
the other 2 games we lost by 1 goal against good teams in this league after being 1 up
No point looking at the table too closely at the moment - it still makes grim reading.
However, if Doncaster can pick up 19 out of 21 points I don't see why we can't - it shows that this is not a great league and there is still a chance...

thats where i am at
i looked at the team on saturday in disbelief that we are bottom that team could on its day beat anyone , the belief has been what is missing from our team the belief that we can get ahead in a game hold it and increase it to put the game beyond doubt especially at home and taht is where it is going to be of the upmost importance.
I am not living in cuckoo land if i am honest i think we are fecked well and truely
but Donny and Forset put a run together,
Brissle City put one in around December,
it can be done folks there is no doubt about that.
the players have to work harder than they have all season
we need Racon to stay Fit we need Dicko to keep improving Game on Game we need Kandol and Dicko to work together like they have done in the last 2 games.
we need the luck to turn as we have not been lucky in the area all season and i mean ours and the opposing teams balls have been half cleared and fallen to us and our players have had good saves made or missed a sitter, whilst at the other end we have been punished for mistakes instantly.
it aint gonna be easy it is near on impossible but until it is you have to believe that it can change
We can look at the last 14 games and 8 points behind safety - and decide that it's too big a mountain to climb, so just give up.
But then, we can also look at other teams that have struggled most of the season - and think, if they can do it, why not us?
And we would surely hope Parkinsella and the team has the same attitude.
Championship form needed? Funnily enough probably not.
Look at our recent form: win, defeat, defeat, win. That's 6 points from the past 4 matches.
Even only replicating that form would give us 43 points from 44 matches - and no doubt we would have to win our last 2 matches to stay up: Away to Derby, Home to Norwich.
Anybody been bothered to look at the Championship fixtures for those last 2 weekends?
It's got every chance of being a relegation '6-pointer' feast.
So many of the current lower table teams must play each other.
For example, the last day of the season:
Charlton v Norwich
Plymouth v Barnsley
Forest v Southampton
Watford v Derby
Guess what, teams in each match can't both win.
It's not just us who play 6-pointers, you know.
And we've got 3 home matches in the last 4 games.
If we can create a reasonable platform, we can cheat the hangman.
Lennie 'Houdini' Lawrence would think he had a chance, I'm sure.
And I bet Parkinsella will give it their best shot too.
Come on, see what we can achieve, rather than shrugging shoulders and limply accepting what may seem likely.
Nothing is set in stone, but God knows, we do have a chance!
NLA and Oggy, love the optimism, really do and I'd love to share it but we are talking about a team that hasn't won back to back games in well over a year and our two recent wins have been against probably two of the worst teams I've seen this season, especially Plymouth who look at the moment like relegation fodder. Problem is the Watford, Barnsley, Forest, Derby all seem to be picking up at least a win every three games. For us to have a chance we need to win say three on the spin after which we MAY be only 5 or 6 points from safety. Then we will have a chance. A win in the next two games is vital and whether it is against Swansea or Barnsley is immaterial as Barnsley will do enough to stay up. Then with two homes games in five days we could actually see a narrowing of the gap. However, games are running out and this is going to be a really big ask. Unfortunatley I believe that after the Watford game we will still be around 8 points adrift even if we have won two of the next four games.

I've read your post with interest, Large .......... but with respect, you do make everything seem virtually impossible.
It's one hell of a challenge we face, but it's a long way from being impossible.
So if it's a long way from being impossible ....... then it must, by definition, be possible.
We've got some decent players, our midfield especially is looking the best we've had since Reid left - and is scoring goals regularly. We've got some backbone and spirit back in the team.
Compared to most other teams in this league, the only major thing that has been missing is confidence.
The team has played well enough for most parts of the past 4 matches and came very close to winning more points than the 6 we have in the bag.
I feel the team are getting there, at last. Whether we have enough in the tank to save ourselves, only time will tell.
If the team can put together 14 decent performances and come in with enough results, so that in the last game we can at least take it to the wire - then that'll give all of us one hell of a last third of the season.
That's got to be a lot better and more exciting than some people asking in February, "What team shall we pick for the 3rd Division?"
Oggy, I've read your post with interest, and all of it is certainly true. Although we are playing better the other teams all seem to be picking up enough points here and there to stay well ahead of us. The odd win here and there isn't going to be good enough, somewhere we have to at least win two on the bounce or preferably three to really get within touching distance. Then we may be able to start talking of having a fighting chance. Keep up the optimism though !!
To have any chance we need to win at least 7 (half) of our 14 games and probably even 8 or 9 of them.
Whilst it's obviously possible, with our away record you have to say it's unlikely. But you never know. If we can keep the current XI fit plus with ZZ and Shelvey returning then we could well do it. I was a doom-monger a week or so ago but saturday has given me some hope.
large i aint that optimistic as i dont think we will do it but the hope is there that is all i am saying you have to believe or you might as well give up and i dont see the point in that.
Getting any kind of form together is important - of course, for this season, but also with a view to next season. If we do go down (and I'm still in the realist camp on that one, surprise, surprise), then I'll feel a lot more confident about next season and the longer term future of this club if we have already proven that we have the makings af a team that can put in good performances and get results. That would give us some stability to build our way back from, and would go some way to vindicating the board's decision to appoint Parkinsella.
This has probably been put elsewhere, but we have 13 games left, 8 of which are against teams in the bottom half - win them and we've given ourselves a heck of a chance.
At least our destiny is in our hands at the moment.
The biggest favour we can do for ourselves - is to win those 6-pointers.
Other teams will have their 6-pointers also.
So we can all sit down and calculate maximum points, try to invent an imaginary safety target, but there are so many twists and turns that nobody knows how it's going to turn out.
We have to help ourselves first, one game at a time - and not look beyond that.
But if I break my own rule, lol - there's 4 juicy relegation 6-pointers lined up for the last day of the season.
That's only 4 teams in those 4 games who can get maximum points and some who may get no points at all!
So it's all in the lap of the Gods, providing the team give it their best shot.
Looking at our predicament as it stands, we couldn't have wished for a better end of season fixture run in.
We will win our next 3 games and be 3 points from safety after that...then who knows, anything is posible and with the confidence gained we just may sneak it.
If we look instead of points total, if we look at the teams in it. Forest, Doncaster and Derby either through form or points total seem difficult to catch, but we only need 3 teams below us,Southampton and Norwich are both catchable, with a bit of form, so it leaves one - Plymouth, currenlty in free fall and they must be wondering where they will pick up another point let alone win.
Their fixtures are:-
Sheff U H
Wolves A
Watford H
Reading H
Swansea A
Norwich A
Burnley H
Blackpool A
Coventry H
Birmingham A
Doncaster H
QPR A
Barnesly H
Not sure if this is a good or bad run in,in this league.
Plymouth, Blackpool, Barnsley and Norwich as well as Southampton could be the five fighting it out i just think we have alot of talent and steel to get us through this
I still think we are a long way off BUT we still have a fighting chance, slim though it maybe.
We will not win every game for the rest of the season (I will sing "we will rock you" by that gawd awful band on the pitch if we do).
The management, players and fans need to keep their cool when we do lose a game be it Barnsley, Swansea or Donny and not go into "that's it, we're down, we're rubbish, all the players are crap and don't care" mode at the first set back
I'm very much in the 'there is a feint chance of hope camp' mainly due to the fact that Donny have shown you can pick up wins against all the sides in the this league including the top six but Saturday is simply must-win. Anything less than 3 points and even I will accept it's all over.

I think you should sing "Walk Tall" by Val Doonican if we win every remaining game :-)

When was the last time we had a decent END to a season from Feb onwards?
The nerves....... imagine how much our opinions of Phil Parkinson would change....

Not sure if this is a good or bad run in,in this league.
we put a run together and BEAT the teams at Home, Draws will not be enough, we can catch the 3 teams outside the bottom 3.
if we draw any of those home games we could still catch one of them but so could the other 2 teams above us
