[cite]Posted By: scruffle[/cite]Was anyone here actaully the game???
We dominated the entire game, they scored from the two chances they had.
Spring was ok should never have been taken off,
sharon was well sharon, useless pussy should never have playd no matter stayed on the field.
Jon Jo was quality shame no1 else can take his lead and WANT THE FUCKIN BALL
Burton will not score more than 3 goals this seaon, link up play very good but effectively we don't have any1 up front
Hudson - I was disgusted by his performance today
fotune, awful
sam - went missing 2nd half, looked like had a knock
mceverly was good
murty was good
elliot not at fault for either goal was put under alot of pressure due to ineptness of fortune and hudson in front of him
Holland - forgot he was on the field
Dominated the entire game? We played well for the first half hour then gifted them 2 goals, then had a little 5 minute spell in the 2nd half when we forced a handful of corners. That was it. If you don't take your chances, then with our defence we're always going to be in trouble. We need to score 2-3 goals to win games right now and we don't even look like scoring one.
As for Spring being ok and should never have been taken off, what game did you watch, from where i was sitting he was terrible but seeing as he's not played much and only signed yesterday i'l llet him off. In league one he'll be a decent signing.
Ambrose, Hudson, Burton were all terrible. We badly need a new centre back so Hudson can be dropped. In fact i think Holland did better at centre back last week against Norwich than Hudson would've done.
Why oh why we played 1 up front at home in a relegation 6 pointer i don't know, it snot as if we ripped Norwich apart playing that way last week. Gray when he came on was terrible, Waghorn at least tried.
Shelvey for me was our MOTM, i just pray he wants to stay and play 1st team football for us rather than sit in a premier league reserve or youth team.
I'll also echo the thoughts of Supaclive, absolutely no way can Dickson be any worse than the sh*t we see every week. Please give him a chance.
People like Oggy lifted my spirits this last week with their unfailing good humour and admirable rallying cries. They persuaded me - and may be others - that Parky had a coherent plan and his dealings in the transfer market were going to help pull us through. For a moment I started to believe!
But I'm convinced we are goners now. Never felt so bereft of hope as I did at the final whistle this afternoon - the first of our ''20 cup finals''. Nothing we do seems to work and we've almost run out of road.
Five changes in the starting line-up from Norwich , plus the two subs who came on, so that's seven players on the pitch who weren't part of the lot who couldn't win last week. And what happened? An almost total repeat of the game against Bristol City at the Valley 12 weeks ago, the second game (and first at home) in our 17 match winless run.
The parallels between that game and today were depressing. Dominant for the first half hour, looked really good, made lots of chances we didn't take... then they score against the run of play, get a second, our heads drop. End of story. Both games 2-0.
Can't see where we are going to get the next win from, let alone the seven or eight wins in the remaining nine home games that we require. Parky's share of our winless run is now longer than Pardew's. He played Burton on his own up front in a home game that the OS said was a ''must win'' and ''the most important game of the season so far''. And he didn't even think it was worth changing that until there was 25 mins left. Presumably because he had no confidence that Gray and Waghorn would do any better. Well he was right about that!
Hudson was a catastrophe. Fortune was not much better. Spring was even more lightweight than Ambrose and Holland, after being MOTM last week, was anonymous today.
I can't even see Shelvey's terrific performance as much of a plus because if there were any scouts present, you can bet there will be several big clubs knocking on his door come Monday. He was head and shoulders above anyone else in a Charlton shirt and no way are we going to keep him. Heretically, I'm going to say may be we shouldn’t even try to, because we're just going to drag him down. He'll learn so much more and become an infinitely better player in a side with some quality around him.
Yes, we played some good stuff today and were the better team for significant periods. Just like that Bristol City 2-0 home defeat all those long, depressing 12 weeks ago. But you don't get any points for good - even dominant - periods of play if you fail to score in them.
Can anyone actually remember what it felt like on Oct 4? That was the last time we won - and it's the only time we've won in the last 21 league matches. We've now got to win at least eight of our remaining 19, I reckon - and pick up some away draws as well.
What is there to cheer us? Brown might arrive next week? Bailey will be back from suspension? ZZ and Racon will return to training before the end of the month? Is any of that really going to change anything?
I'm not blaming anyone. Gone beyond that. Just feeling hopeless, I'm afraid. When you look at the table tonight and contemplate the mountain we have to climb it dwarfs Everest. And at the moment we look like we'd need oxygen even to scale Shooters Hill…
But of course, I'll still be there in div one next season. None of the above is because I don't care and I take some perverse pleasure in all this. It's because I care too much and it damn well hurts like hell...
Says it all Nigel: and don't forget the impetus given to a struggling team by a change of manager. Billy Davies must be having a chuckle to himself on the journey home.
[cite]Posted By: ChicagoAddick[/cite]Sounded like it was Murty and Fortune at fault for the goal. Why the angst against Hudson, apart from the Palarse aspect.
Totally wrong Fortune was not the problem, why make theses sorts of comments if you have not witnessed the goal.
Elliot - nothing to do, can't blame him
Murty - Can see he is experienced and generally solid apart from the odd mistake, but then it's his second match in 6 months.
Hudson - Not been impressed by him for a while
Fortune - Actually don't think he was that bad, a dodgy moments though.
McEveley - Did ok, an improvement on Youga and Basey at least
Sam - Good moments but makes the same mistakes he always does, holding onto the ball too long and not much end product
Spring - Not impressed, hard to see what he offers us that other players can. Is he really that much better than Wright or Sinclair?
Semedo - Didn't get long off enough, started ok from what I can remember
Holland - Bad mistake from him for the goal, same as usual, didn't do much wrong or much right.
Ambrose - Some decent moments, but not involved enough as usual
Shelvey - Another good game, we're playing him in the perfect position for him at the moment. Shame we haven't got a goalscorer up front though.
Burton - Can't score, as a player he's ok, but if you play one up front they have to be able to score goals or do a lot of good work so that the midfield can.
Gray & Waghorn - Didn't see much of them.
No idea what's going on with Todorov. Surely we should start Dickson on Tuesday. We need pace up front and someone that can score goals. He might be seriously lacking in other areas, but we need a goalscorer right now, and it's going to be very hard to get anyone much more proven.
Parkinson has said he's trying to sign a striker at least.
Parkinson handed debuts to new signings Graeme Murty and Matthew Spring, but admitted he was still in the market to bring a striker to the club in the January transfer window after watching his side draw a blank in front of goal.
"Our lack of anticipation in the box was one criticism I had today,” said Parkinson. "In training you can work on finishing and basic technique but when it comes to a game players aren't always composed.
"We'd like to get a striker but it's tough with no money to get one of proven Championship quality. Any deal takes time; we've been working on Matt Spring for a week. He's a good footballer, with a good football brain and he's a good passer of the ball. He'll get better when he gets more games under his belt.”
Addicks boss Parkinson has come in for criticism in some quarters for signing players on loan rather than a permanent basis, but he explained: "In the current financial situation, the loan route might be the only option to get.
Both Hudson and Holland today made unforgivable mistakes in what some people would consider our last chance saloon game. To be so slack and careless, from what are considered experienced pros is nothing short of unacceptable.
Why are they not punished for what they've done? They should be roped up wearing nappies on the training ground on Monday morning and have the youth players kick balls at them. I can assure you they wouldn't be so careless in the future.
I wouldn't trust Parkinson to run a whelk stall. He may well be trying to sign a striker, but if the best he could do last time was Burton the gawd help us .
we have 3 "impact" strikers at the club (Dickson, Mcleod and Fleetwood) who have shown that they can score goals - at least 1 should have been on the bench to liven things up in the 2nd half.
McLeod had shown before that he can get behind defences and wins pens and Dickson has shown at Gillingham that he knows where to goal is. Can someone please tell me what Gray or Burton bring to the table ?
at 5pm tonight we were relegated. Will the last one to leave please turn out the lights.
[cite]Posted By: StrikerFirmani[/cite]Agree with Scoham's assessment basically.
Likewise. Perhaps a little harsh on Spring in his first match. I think he played a few balls to where Ambrose SHOULD have been and wasn't so looked worse than he was.
Take the point about being any better than, say, Josh Wright though.

On a positive note, Shelvey did well I thought.
