Will the board act ?

2 points adrift at bottom of league. Caretaker manager on run of 3 points from 21. Signs of improvement today. Will the board act to replace Parkinson ?

  • What improvement? We got a point against QPR who have only scored 4 goals away from home ALL season yet they could have had and should have had 3 today in just 90 mins against us!

Bouazza is an embarrasment - he just doesn't care.

McEvely was good, Bailey MOTM and Lloyd Sam worked his tits off. Hudson unlucky with the goal - I thought it was a foul but he played through an injury.

    Semedo has a temperement problem.

Sincerely - that wasn't an improvement, but at least there were 10 players who tried - Bouazza simply couldn't be bothered for most of the game.

    Andy Gray - JUMP goddammit!
  • I saw an improvement. Thought Bouazza formed good partnership with McEveley. Semedo was excellent wasn`t he ?
  • No, Semedo is a good player but he will cost us points with his bad temperement - give me Bailey and Shelvey ...
  • Hudson is crap, i have had enough of this unlucky stuff the loke is clueless
  • I don't think Hudson is useless, he's ok, good at times but nothing special, certainly not a Premier League defender like Pardew said he was.

We've had worse CBs in the last season or so, such as Sam Sodje.

What did Semedo do? I can't remember, was it when he got a yellow card (I think he did?)?
  • Hudson's supposed to be a top championship defender, Fortune played in the premiership for years, Cranie's supposed to be a promising prem defender, Mceveley had a good reputation not that long ago - and yet we're giving away goals for fun. Somethings wrong. And although we've had some good spells under Parky we could still do with a change.

That being said I enjoyed today, was a cracking game of football.
  • That post is bordering on positive Chunes. I agree by the way.
  • i would have Sodje over Hudson. Hudson is slower than Phil Chapple, I think his positioning is poor, and he never has a clue where is headers are going.
  • I disagree, for me Hudson has been pretty good, by our season's standard, may not be the quickest, but aerially he's solid, he had a few awful games when Weaver lost the plot, apart from that I think he's been ok, this stuff about Bouazza I think's pretty harsh, by a mile the most talented player we have, quick, skillful, can cross( rare for a Charlton winger, i.e JT), everytime I have watched him I have been pretty impressed, much preffered to that ass bandit Ambrose, however tottally agree with Semedo, gets booked far too often, oh and how long until Racon is back?

The ire against Bouazza is precisely for the reason you point out. He is the most talented we have so it is all the more frustrating when he doesn't produce.

Semedo for me was a man of the match contender. He was everywhere playing the "Kish" role and in my view freed up Nicky Bailey to get further forward into potential scoring positions.

  • Why should QPR have had a 3rd goal, if you mean the disallowed goal then that was a correct decision, as our defender was held back from the ball, by another forward, we were unlucky not to win, but you have tpo make your own luck

Come on, Len. Semedo was one of our worst performers today. Overhit many simple passes when we were in good positions, nearly got himself sent off for a ridiculous off-the-ball incident and just looks stupidly uncomfortable on the ball and as a result lost posession more than he kept it.

And it doesn't take much to free up Bailey to get forward. You just sit deeper! I'm a big fan of the guy but today he was terrible. I'm beginning to think you have a love affair with any Charlton player who plays the DM role!
  • I'm with Len. Semedo was excellent second half. In fact, I'd say it was the way he bullied Lee Cook out of the game that forced QPR to take him off.

Come on, 'bully' and 'Charlton' - when did you last hear those two words in the same sentence ?
  • Semedo and Sam were our best today. imho Jose was our motm.
  • Semedo was solid, probably the best of a very very band bunch.

My problem with him is that he is always on the edge. Once he gets a yellow there is a strong possibility that he will go on and get the 2nd yellow.

The two footed lunge just before he was subbed kind of summed him up.

Yes Bailey was better than previous weeks today and seemed to have regained some of his fire, but still think his passing was poor and he got caught dwelling on the ball several times.

re:Hudson. You need to look at the video and see who he was supposed to be marking when we let in goals.
He was at fault for Lita's goal for Norwich.
he lost Blackstock twice at Loftus Rd for their two goals.
He was outpaced then outjumped by the Blackpool striker for their two goals.
Either he or Fortune lost Ellington for the last minute equaliser against Derby.

We've kept one clean sheet in goodness knows how many games. He is a major problem in my opinion.
FOr Sunday, I'd drop him and play Crainie with Fortune at centre-back.
  • Heh. I must have been watching a different game to you lot. Everyone around me was holding their heads in their hands when he kept losing the ball or misplacing the pass. As I said, I'm a fan of Semedo's, but from where I was sitting he was very poor today.

Still no win in 7 ? attempts. Did Pards have a better record than Parky. Parkinson was part of the Pardew problem as he is still there. Board must act.

I think they will act after the Sheff Utd i reckon they have the guy ready and he has given a list of players to the director of football to agree and sort out.
  • I agree pete. New broom is required.
  • In response to the original question - don't know why or where all of this Semedo/Hudson stuff has come from on this thread - I would say that I bloody well hope that the board act, and PDQ too.

I think we all WANTED Parky to do well, even if we didn't all agree whether he should have been given the chance or not.

But let's face facts. No wins and just 3 points in 7 games is a pretty poor return in any league. When you factor in the standard and league position of the opposition in those games then it becomes even worse.

We need a new broom to sweep clean and try to install some fresh impetus and belief to our troops - and soon before it really is too late.

Thanks for trying Parky and good luck. No hard feelings but your time is up.

The board MUST act, however they should have done so weeks ago. I just don't understand it. These guys are intelligent businessmen with a lot of their own money invested in the club AND they are fans yet seemingly have done very little in the last few weeks. If one of their businesses was in the same position I really doubt they would let it just drift along for a couple of months completely rudderless yet this seems to have been what they have done here.

Why wait until after the Sheffield Utd game, what diffeence would the result there make, say we won, then Parky would have got 6 points from 8 games...would that mean we should give him the job because he won the last game?
  • I like Parky but the points tally from winnable games is woeful. It was the easy thing for the Board to do, to offer him a chance but he was part of the Pardew fiasco so it should have been a very brief chance. I don't really understand the point of giving him 7 games, he should have been given a couple of games to see if he could really fashion an improvement otherwise get somebody else in.
  • Blimey off-it and bingaddick having a go at the board ;-) things must be bad !!!
  • Surely somethings happening behind the scenes. If theres been as much interest in the job, as we've been led to believe, then preliminary talks must by now have taken place with the interested parties. The board certainly wont leave it till after Sundays game to make a decision......will they ????
  • Thought Parkinson's reaction at the end looked a bit final. The standing by the tunnel and giving the ground some applause and the patting all the players on the back as they went down the tunnel is not particularly odd in itself, I just had a feeling he was saying cheerio. I know Rothko thought the same as well. Was expecting to return from dinner at the in-laws to see that he had been replaced.

Having said all of that it really wouldn't make sense to out him less than 48hrs before the Sheff Utd game.

He seems a decent bloke, unfortunately in terms of results he has brought nothing new to the party, still firmly in the he has to go camp.

Have a gut feeling Ince will be in charge for the Norwich cup game. Personally would rather it was Souness.

Sorry this was meant to be a link to kent on-line which seems to infer that we're keeping parky.
  • Off_it, what you said
  • Semedo MOM, serious.

    Jesus Christ.

The Italian fella made a ridiculous meal of Semedo's trip but that is Semedo all over. He could have walked for that and you know if there is going to be a moment of madness, a silly foul, unnecessary handball it will be from Semedo.

Shelvey does his job a lot better in my opinion.
  • Amazingly after all the points dropped we could still be ok come the end, but Parky needs to turn better performances into a few wins.
Sadly I think a total change is needed.
