[cite]Posted By: bingaddick[/cite]choice of Dowie made on the strength of a powerpoint presentation, backed up with the desire to shaft Tangoman
Whilst I don't disagree with either of those comments, I think in isolation they are unfair. Dowie came in to Palace with a reasonable managerial record at Oldham and took Palace from a relegation spot to promotion to the Prem. in the same season, he then almost saved them from the reverse journey, but for 10 minutes and John Fortunes equaliser, he then steered them to a play off position. Put that on a managerial CV and I am sorry its not bad. Sadly as his subsequent record has shown, he was a very lucky manager during this time and has now been found out, a few clubs too late.
dowie left cov and qpr mid table i don't think 12 games at charlton proves he is a s**t manager

West Australia, namely Perth. Was last there 2000 right slap bang in the middle of our winless run on the way to winning the title
Jean West was another thing I remember, the worst denin for competitive prices
And Woolworths being more like sainsburys than Woolworths
Don't you really dislike aussies.

At Coventry he didn't do badly and got wins away at Man utd and Blackburn in the cups when Mifsud was scoring for fun. Not sure why he actually left there but i don't recall them ever being close to the drop when he was in charge. In fact they went on a worse run (remember the last day of last season) after he left them. And at QPR he fell out with the bosses because he wouldn't let them pick the team which is quite understandable. He left them still the cup and in the top half of the table with a better than 50% win ratio.

I said he was a disasterous choice, I didn't use the words you have attributed to my remarks.
Don't you think the fact that he has been sacked by his last three clubs after a few games at each suggest that they might have a different view? He may be an OK coach but his last three clubs haven't hung around long enough to find out. That suggests to me that there are more issues with than merely his coaching ability.
The Norwich fan then went on to say how many loanees have you got when I told him he said christ you cant build a team like that .totally agree the loanees are no better than what we already have, sod it play the youngsters they are our future the sooner we realise that the better.
Think we are all going over the same old ground at the moment, I am not going to add to that. Looking forward from the we are shite statement, things are going to change in SE7, I cannot believe that our Board will allow this to continue much longer I expect to see a huge Change at Charlton after Boxing Day if there isn't well I don't want t othibnk about that just yet, it's Christmas after all.
Thoughts on why you're shite from a Palace fan who's also seen Charlton play at the Valley as a "neutral" this season:
Player-wise, there are only 2 spots you must act on in January - both your central midfielders need replacing. Holland and Bailey redefine "lightweight" and it's no surprise you are where you are given that your midfield can't (a) win the ball, (b) keep the ball, (c) do anything incisive or constructive with the ball.
You could do with a goalscorer no doubt and I'm sure you'd love to reverse the Hudson / Paddy Mac situation, but what you've got would do a bit better if you had any sort of midfield. You could do worse than look down a division and try and pick up a no-nonsense tackler to at least give your central defence some sort of protection.
As for your manager, we are fast running out of 5th column agents to send to you! You can't appoint Trevor Francis because he'd probably keep you up :)
Agree with Oggy. I was rather hoping for an announcement by Christmas Eve as my stocking's looking pretty empty this year, as is the post Norwich bank account.
Walrus, I don't think you're too far wrong there. Along with a general lack of confidence and direction, central midfield and lack of goals is pretty much the problem. Not much wrong with us defensively - any defence would struggle with our midfield in front of them.

I agree. I don't think there's many who would disagree that the problem is in midfield. It just beggars belief that we have signed yet another winger on loan when it's central midfield thats needs beefing up.
Still lets hope both Racon and ZZ will play a part in the second half of the season because we need them.

Reading Parky's comments, he knows too. And so evidently do the players.
How bad must he have been?!!!
