of course we are shite. I left The Valley when Coventry beat us thinking they were the worst team I had seen this season. Then I remembered us. It's not getting any better and nor will it whilst the Board dither and bitch amongst themselves. Getting Parky out and a new man in will be far cheaper than relegation. How long till they realise this? When they eventually do it'll be too late. We need someone appointed now so they can oversee an overhaul in January. If we leave Parky to sort it out hell knows where it will end.
Scary here isnt it?.....
Seems that the board see things our way eventually....usually a few months after we have been bitching about how bad it is....by which time, we will be in Division 3......Glitz it up all you like by calling it League one to soften the blow, but reality is DIVISION3.....just like a flashback to the dark days of the 70's and 80's

The scariest thing for me is how fast we've fallen. The 60's/70's and to some extent the early 80's was about a slow decline having fallen out of top flight and then failing to get back immediately. We had more than 10 consecutive seasons in Div 2 (now the Championship) before we finally were relegated, although quite a number of seasons we scrapped out of the mire on the final game. Now we've just dropped like a stone. What's even more disturbing is that we seem to have a progressive Board who have managed the club decently over the last 10 seasons yet we are where we are.
The truth is, when in hole stop digging. It seems to me that the moment Curbs left the building the DIrectors have been digging a bigger and bigger hole for the club. Maybe it was inevitable but the disasterous choice of Dowie made on the strength of a powerpoint presentation, backed up with the desire to shaft Tangoman, has largely been responsible for where we are now. I am not sure what went on behind the scenes with Pardew but I get the impression that all was not right. There is talk of splits in the board room. What the truth is, only they know, but the hole is just getting deeper and wider? The decision to appoint Parky may have been the only one they could all agree with for financial prudence but it was always likely to be a huge and potentially costly mistaken gamble. Parky was part of the failures of Pardews reign. Pardew got him in, he supported him and presumably he was at least the cheer leader for Pardews follies. We have played a number of teams down the bottom of the table which were winnable games, yet our tally of points under Parky is pathetically low.
For god sake, I entreat the Board to go out with a sackful of money and get the best manager in who is available, for the rest of the season. For me that is Curbs but I'd settle for others. The future strength and direction of the club for many years to come is now at stake.
If we return the 7 loanee's that has got to be £20K a week saved? I would have thought half of that would get you a young manager with an untarnished reputation who may turn it around but certainly knows League 1.
Having witnessed our decline from the late 50's onward I have to agree with 'Bingaddick' it is very Scary. We are falling in to the abyss at an alarming speed.
Before it was lack of passion and investment but I can't honestly lay that at the door of the current board in comparison to what happened previously.

I'd like us to keep Cranie (improved in recent games), Waghorn (looks a decent player) and Gillespie (has to be better than Sam) though. The rest can go back
How did you know that I'm an artist and I work in Garfunkels? Spooky!
No idea what the answer is - other than the fact that "gambling" away the future is a non statrter in my book. And that's even if we could raise the cash.
As I said, "going large" should be limited purely to trips to Maccy D's!

Whilst I don't disagree with either of those comments, I think in isolation they are unfair. Dowie came in to Palace with a reasonable managerial record at Oldham and took Palace from a relegation spot to promotion to the Prem. in the same season, he then almost saved them from the reverse journey, but for 10 minutes and John Fortunes equaliser, he then steered them to a play off position. Put that on a managerial CV and I am sorry its not bad. Sadly as his subsequent record has shown, he was a very lucky manager during this time and has now been found out, a few clubs too late.
