  • I think Hudson has been a very poor captain.
  • I hope you are right Clem but who. Not seen anything to suggest that any of "the names" we would expect are pulling up trees to get to us. By now I would have expected one of the red tops to have heard a whisper but no. All they are doing is fishing in the dark with crap like Paulo wants the job.

We historically play our cards close to our chest.

We've been led to believe that we aren't actively seeking a new man so I guess the lack of linked names is no surprise.

Agree that Di Canio is nonsense. A mad man is not really the answer at the moment.

I base my "surprised who might be interested" comment on the sort of names you see interviewed/linked with supposedly lesser jobs. Leciester last season is a prime example.....Hoddle, Graham, Davies were all reported to have been interviewed. Not that I am advocating any of them.

I'll get slaughtered for it, but I'd like to see Souness in charge. He'd certainly sort out our lack of spirit.
  • Interesting to see that STU HU16 has posted as saying he knows for certain Di Canio wants the job badly. How can he know that I wonder.
  • If we had an inquest, the coroner would record an open verdict
  • Di Canio is to much of a gamble but a "mad man" will be needed or only a mad man will take this job
  • [cite]Posted By: Valley McMoist[/cite]If we had an inquest, the coroner would record an open verdict

No he would record murder and the police would be after Dowie and Pardew. Dowie would be charged with GBH and Pardew with murder
  • I wish Murray would stay away from all things to do on the football side he has cocked it up since he let Curbishley go. He could and should get someone like El Tel in to try and sort it out by El Tels self. Another relegation should be a nail in Richard Murray's coffin on his director of football position that he has given himself. The rest of the board should have a word.
  • Well I'd start by

    1. Throwing a net around Curbishley and getting him in, even if it's for just this season
    2. Playing our youngsters, at least they are ours
    3. Thats it really
  • with bing there.

Totally and utterly truly madly deeply agree with this post.
  • With Hudson it must be a confidence issue, he looked great at the start of the season as did Bailey when he first came here, now they're both playing poorly. I don't think they've turned into bad players, so it can only be down to confidence.

    .
  • Curbs must be vary aware of what is happening and the fact that his name is being strongly linked for a return.
The fact that he hasn't come out and stated that there is no chance of him ever returning tells me that it is very much on the cards.
What would he have to lose by simply stating that he's not interested? Is he teasing us all, or praps getting his own back on all those who wanted him out in the first place!
  • I would be very interested to read Pilchards reasoning why Hudson is such an inspirational captain.

I dont want to see the word rock.

Havent disliked a captain so much since Paul Miller briefly had it.

Got the wrong Pilchard I think or maybe I am missing my irony bone today Southend! Where did I say he was inspirational in either of my posts on the subject?? Quite the reverse. (I will spare you the use of the word Rock though.)
Hudson is to my mind no captain and I have never used the term inspirational in conjunction with him.
It would be Inspirational however if we were to have a new captain!
  • Sounds like we're looking for scapegoats, chaps.

You try being skipper of a team that's dead scared of holding on to the ball, gives it away too cheaply and doesn't create - so that puts more pressure on the defence in any case.

And while you're calling for a team mate to drop back or hold on to the ball, in that split second the man you're meant to be marking has turned you and scored.

Hudson can't win, he's trying to do 2 jobs at the same time - that's what being a skipper's all about, trying to organise your team AND trying to play your own game.

Anyone who's ever competitively skippered a struggling side will know exactly what I mean.

I don't hold Hudson responsible for our demise, collectively the whole team has to shoulder the blame as they have not been nearly good enough. Guess we were spoiled in olden times with captains like Kinsella, Shirtliff amd Aizlewood.

A friend works pretty highup at the hammers and meets with Di Canio still as they are friends, he's told me DC is desperate for the job.
